  1. As I had some fun in the past days with messing with the engine (on a local server of course) I wanted to see what kind of Engine set-ups some of you guys have developed, tested and enjoyed.
  2. Had fun with Index in an Ninja round. While i was not able to interact much with them in that round it looked like they were during really solid. +1 from my side.
  3. BYOND Key: Skyflieger Character Names: Jamison Rasam, Simon Huber (RIP), Rhea Berg Species you are applying to play: Dionae What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Duh. Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: As I only have played humans till now and I decided to apply in order to play another species. But all the “normal” species like Humans or Skrell have a distinct culture, distinct governments and so on. Dionae (and IPCs) do not have something like that. Their behaviouris dependent on their experience and knowledge they got during their lifetime. Why not IPCs, IPCs are Emotionless but honestly not incredible different from Dionae in aspects that make them interresting to apply for. But why Dionae and not IPCs? I do not know for certain, but I think it has something to do with the fact that Dionae are a fairly rarely played race, or maybe the whole concept of multiple nymths or the plant like physiology. I do not know why, but I like them. And I want to play one. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: You are not bound to cultural limitations. You are only bound to the experience of the Character, their knowledge and their emotions. You are not one, you are many. You can play with an amount of freedom you are not given when being a Human. You can create your character with more freedom. You can develop a kind of individuality you can not get as a human. Character Name: Discovery of the Noises Please provide a short backstory for this character Their existence began with one seed of unknown origin. It flew, carried by solar winds, across the space until it landed on the planet of Biesel in the Tau Ceti system in the forest near Mendell City. It developed into a pod which eventually hatched a Nymph. It stayed there, getting near Mendell City but never really entering it, feared by the noises. Eventually after some months it spreaded more seeds. While most of them developed into a pod, only 5 hatched a Nymph. Now 6 Nymphs, they got together and merged into a cyclops, mimicking the inhabitants of the city that the first nymph eventually saw sometimes. Now bigger, stronger and more intelligent the Gestalt overcame its fears from the city. Driven by curiosity for the big buildings, the technology of the City and the people in there,it walked through the city, learning the language of the people in only some days and seems to begin to understand where they were. Eventually it stood in front of a building and decided to enter it, confident with their knowledge of the language spoken by most of the people they encountered. This building was the Headquarter of the Megacorporation Nanotrasen. At the reception was a IPC that first did not understood what the plant like creature in front of him wanted and why they were asking many quite obvious questions. Eventually they began to understand that the Dionae were not that old. At the end of their shift the receptionist decided to take the Dionae with them, who called themself “Discovery of the Noises”, and help them in their current situation, building up a living and getting self sustained. They helped them applying for Citizenship in the Republic of Biesel. After the Nymphs all got chipped the Receptionist also helped them getting a job at Nanotrasen. At the question what they want the Dionae just pointed stood there and pointed on the Secretary IPC that helped them and said “Help them”. They began as a Lab Assistant at the NSS Canis Minor, working on a Master Degree in Mechatronics and Robotics, in the time they are not working. During their time working on the Canis Minor they decided shifting a bit more into the Mechatronic area, which got its peak with their promotion to a Mechatronic Engineer and a change of workplace, now on the NSS Aurora. What do you like about this character? I really like the aspect of curiosity and the fact that the decision in what field they work is driven more by emotions then by skill. How would you rate your role-playing ability? Depends on my mood, most of the time a solid 7/10. On good days 8/10. On bad days 5/10. Notes: Not sure about the time they worked on the NSS Canis Minor and the time they needed for their Master degrees.
  4. Nope. I played around 2 rounds each day in the past days and promoted the application after the rounds. Maybe i am just too unknown.
  5. I try to get more response but sadly no one is really responding when i post the link anywhere. I will try to get more response tomorrow when i can play SS13 again.
  6. I am online 2 or 3 times in the week for one or two rounds after work. Mostly around 8 PM Central European Time.
  7. BYOND key: Skyflieger Character names: Keira Hall(Detective), Rhea Berg(Security Officer), Sophia Ilaora(Anomalist), S.K.Y.(AI), S.K.Y. 874(Stationbound) How long have you been playing on Aurora?: One and a half years, plus, minus half a year. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: Generally: I believe that I am a valuable addition to the command team and that I can bring a bit more professional flavor in to the departments. Good example: As a Head of Security I want to bring back paperwork and communication to the security department. I believe that there is a severe lack of both in there. Why did you come to Aurora?: I was testing multiple HRP servers and stuck with Aurora after a recommendation from a good friend of mine. Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: Too many times Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they?: Only minor Bwoinks because of oopsies from my side. Nothing severe that I know about. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplaying is about entering a Role you like and think that you can fit in correctly. It is not about winning or achieving a goal. That is something the Char you play may want to achieve. But for the player it is about the path you have on trying to achieve the characters' goals. A German saying states “the path is the goal” which applies in my opinion for roleplaying more than for anything else What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Command is, ingame?: Being the Link between Central Command and the Crew. They are responsible that everything works in a manner of the IC regulations, and OOC regulations but that is something everyone should go and look that it works What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: For other players a Head of Command is an example of how to be and how to behave. They are some kind of guidance. If they behave stupid other players will think that this is okay and will do the same. As a Head of Command you are kinda the elite that is not an elite but everyone thinks is an elite. Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau ceti and how it affected your character and their career? I will ignore stuff like the stuff that is currently happening with some Tajarans and Vaucra as this does not impact my chars. They normally are not.interested in politics There is a general distrust against synthetics, especially free IPCs. This applies onto the most of my chars as they generally think of Synthetics as being predictable and quite stupid. What roles do you plan on playing after application is accepted?: Head of Security and if I take the courage to get back to the good old Engineering days Chief Engineer later. Head of Personnel is also an Option that I keep myself warm as I like the gist of this role. Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking: Petr Antonov - Head of Security. He will be a completely new character that I created and intend to use. His backstory bases around being Sergeant in the Biesel National Guard and being harsh and strict with his men. His primary goal was always to follow orders and to keep up with the protocol. That combined with his religious view of the world that every person has a value and the right to be alive (Notice the slight discremination of synthetics there) made him quite good in his job while reducing casualties on both sides. After Nanotrasen saw this fairly old Sergeant (43 at that point) they decided to try getting him into the security department of one of their stations. After some struggle he accepted and went first to the New Seoul Combat Training Centre and graduated with a Bachelor of Internal Security. This was followed by working 10 years as a Security Officer on the NSS Exodus which was followed by a promotion to a Head of Security and he got shifted to the NSS Aurora. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: Solid 7/10. I believe that I can get into other roles fairly quickly and adapt them fairly good. Besides that, I know that I am only human and make mistakes sometimes. I think that I can roleplay a wide variety of characters, if I always want to be another thing. This is a skill I think not everyone has, which is not bad if you do not have it, and that it makes the RP so much better. Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action?: When I did something awful and stupid I hope that this happens. Have you familiarize yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles?: I read the Wikis for command in general and read all the relevant stuff on the command role pages. Extra notes: Please be nice!
  8. I often saw the problem that security just goes in and stuns people, instead of trying to arrest them without such after not complying with secs orders. While i see and understand why such is easier for the officers, I also have to say that this is a completely boring way of dealing with the situation. Harming people should only be done when they run away or are actively hostile. As an example : There was a preacefull protest infront of the brudge in which the access to the bridge was blocked. My char did not comply with sec so they moved in to arrest me. Such is okay. They first hit me 2 or 3 times with the stunbaton and then put cuffs on me, they first they should have tried to put cuffs on and then if that fails. (Which wouldnt have in my situation. I said they would have to carry me out there and i had no intention of doing harmfull stuff) try to stun me. Later that round i got processed and put into a cell. But i wasnt told my sentence, how long it would be and how large the fine would be. The only thing that was said was "You are held unti transfer" What is, if you ask me, total crap. Long story short. I suggest a kind of IC punishment for sec members who act like that and first harm, then cuff. Additionaly prisoners should get some rights, like getting to know exactly why, how long the imprisonment and how large the fine would be for them.
