  1. Sairis Helosi:

    Ariana Eshlian:

    ariana_eshlian__commission_by_otakatt-d9dyenz.png

Helosi and Eshlian look to be the same person, and I did in fact believe they were when I saw them in your sig.

They're not the same; It's mostly just the artist got a bit too similar in colors and I didn't think to mention it. Sairis' hair should be a bit more vibrant/ginger, Ariana's hair is an auburnish-brownish-red.

  2. Can we have black hardsuits with color accents, like the ones for humans? Only replace the red with blue.

If we're going for uniformity, we'd have to either give them black with red accents like the security hardsuits, or change the security hardsuits to have blue accents to match the rest of security (Why the latter wasn't done in the first place is beyond me)

  3. DISCLAIMER: I am not a lore dev, this is not /officially/ confirmed, but is a good reference for seeing how much your character makes.

Jackboot's confirmed that, currently, the conversion rate of credits to dollars is approximately 3cR : $1 USD (Subject to change when and if Skull gets the economy update rolling). Based on this, and the paygrade tiers shown on the wiki, I've come up with the following payscale after referencing the 2016 payscale for the U.S. military. The reduced pay column is for species that don't get the full pay (Tajaran, Unathi, Diona, Vaurca, and IPC). The numbers aren't exact; I rounded credits to the nearest multiple of 5 for convenience sake. References for everything is below.

The amounts below are an estimated monthly earning for each tier within NanoTrasen. This does not include any potential fees, taxxes, benefits, bonuses, hazard pay, etc.

    NON COMMAND STAFF
Tier Pay USD Equiv. Reduced USD Equiv.
    1 4,700 cR $ 1,566.67 3,995 cR $ 1,331.67

And below is a list of jobs and their relevant paygrade tiers based on the wiki (In most cases, Level 2 is after 10 years of employment (5 years of command experience for command staff), level 3 is after 15 years of employment). 4. Quick note, that wasn't Tpr Helosi - It was someone that had gotten Helosi's ID after I had a very similar encounter with the warden. I'd actually encountered him twice, was shot on sight both times, the first one he shot at a welding tank and nearly killed me with the explsoion (I managed to escape, but was permanently deaf). Second time he lit me up immediately, took my stuff, and left me in a chair cuffed and deaf. Another borer had me released after a few.

  5. The best adjustment that could be taken is to change tactics to mute individual people participating in the anger rather than muting the entire channel.

I'd have to agree with this. I'd say if necessary, mute the entire channel for a short period as both a warning to everyone to cut the topic, and to give you a moment to mute the correct ckeys, then unmute the channel; Shouldn't take more than a couple minutes to do that I don't think. (Common tactic I'd use when dealing with similar situations in IRC)

  6. I'm not sure if the extra tool spot will be accepted/allowed. Custom items are supposed to exist to provide RP in one way or another - Something that's dear to a character, something that affects a character or represents their history/status in some way. They aren't supposed to give you any form of additional gameplay advantage, even if it's just the ability to carry one more item that a regular toolbelt wouldn't give you.

  7. Our EOR grief rule carries with it an automatic 3-day ban. That being said its true we rarely punish for it as most are just a case of one or two attack logs and often by accident. In your case im not quite convinced of your "arrow key story". the shuttle airlocks are bolted i believe. you would have had to click on the airlock to open the menu, click "unbolt" and THEN click "open" all by accident?

This seems to me to be an incredible coincidence, unless i am missing something?

I can confirm shuttle doors are bolted normally. As a drone, ai, or borg, you can toggle a door's bolts by holding down CTRL and left clicking on then. Anybody else would have to screwdriver the panel and manually pulse the bolt wire with a multitool.

  8. It says death on the wiki, but executions are not allowed under Biesel Law here, so we cannot perform them (unless a certain political party wins the Biesel Elections  )

Doesn't exactly state when the death's suppose to be carried out. I think the underlying issue is that someone who breaks out can be labeled uncontainable and promptly executed after capture. Apply that logic if the culprit was a ling or a wizard. Even when cuffed and in containment, you would be well in your right to prevent any possible escape for the future.

I think it's worth noting here that the corporate regulations haven't been adjusted to account for any of the new laws and such the lore team have come up with; Since Biesel considers capital punishment illegal, and executions are considered capital punishment, it wouldn't make since for corporate regs to label executions as a valid option. Borgification however is not considered capital punishment and is a lawful option. I'm not sure where other measures such as removal of limbs/eyes/what have you for specific antag things would fall in regards to capital punishment though.

Jackboot can probably weigh in more on this subject

  9. What exactly does 'bandwagonning a catbeast meme' mean?

    band·wag·on

    ˈbandˌwaɡən/

    noun

    noun: bandwagon; plural noun: bandwagons

    2.

a particular activity or cause that has suddenly become fashionable or popular.

Allow me to highlight the parts that make me think this is a joke:

    BYOND Key: BotanistPower

Character Names: Walter Brooks, Treat Hernandez, Moses Fitzgerald

Species you are applying to play: Read the title of this thread.

What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Can I honestly ask why this is even a question? What color? Uhh, okay? Red, I guess, so that'd make him one of those fancy ex-aristocrat Tajara, at least in terms of ethnicity.

Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes. I have played a Tajaran on BS12 before, actually, and have been familiar with the race of fictional manimals since their conception. I've played DND with the man who created them. He flaked out on DMing a game and for that I shall never forgive him. He regrets it (making the Tajaran).

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question

Why do you wish to play this specific race: In all honesty.. because I think it'd be funny. Tajaran are an inherently comedic race to me, in no short part due to the kind of person that plays them. An odd bunch, I wish to infiltrate the Tajaran player's inner circles. It's sort of like when a missionary goes into the jungle and they find him 10 years later, having assimilated into the tribe he sought to convert. What I'm saying is, who knows, maybe I'll really like it and start wanting to bone anthropomorphic cats?

Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: They're not human, to start. Tajaran have an entirely different way of thinking, culture, and so on. Always a big fan of strange things, playing a Tajaran seems like a good way to spend my free time.

    Character Name: Reginald Abdullah

Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs

Reggie's family fled Adhomai shortly following the revolution. His father, the foreman of a mine and member of a noble family, sought to give his son a normal life on his adopted home of Elyra - to do this, he named him Reginald, not realizing that Reginald is a horribly uncommon name among those of Middle Eastern heritage. His mother was generally a good for nothing who only knew how to play the basilet and spend money. For that, Reginald's father was glad to be rid of her.

Quickly finding that his large horde of gold coins he smuggled past customs by unknown means were worthless (and then later finding out they were, in fact, worth something), Reginald's father became depressed. Later on, shortly after Reginald's birth, he converted to the Islamic faith, becoming one of the first alien converts to Islam. Now known as Mufasa bin Sal'raizur Al-Adhomai, Reginald's father found a new meaning in life... foremanship at a mine.

Reginald's childhood was troubled, mainly because he's a catbeast. Finding it hard to fit in among his peers (both due to his Tajaran heritage and because he referred to his classmates as his peers), Reginald adopted a rock'n'roll lifestyle. Throughout college, Reggie worked hard to earn a bachelor's degree in communications. Finding that not only was his degree worthless, Reggie entered NT boot camp and learned how to arrest a man, how to do many push-ups and how Tajaran are physically unfit for security work. Despite it all, Reggie left boot camp and finished his one year of cadetship, becoming a fully fledged security officer. Despite it all, he has never truly stopped living the rock'n'roll life - one of heavy drinking and promiscuous women, all of whom were not interested in his weird cat body.

    Life is hard for Reggie.

What do you like about this character?

He has experienced the duality of man in full, living in two worlds - that of cat men and that of men men. He is almost completely foreign to actual Tajaran culture, aside from Siik'mas and the general idea that communism is inherently flawed. He's the Frank Zappa of catbeasts.

How would you rate your role-playing ability?

    5 out of 10.

As a side note, I do like the backstory. It's everything else that makes this sem like this application and the character are a joke to you and don't deserve serious answers.

  10. I join the station, and my buddy who I normally RP as a Bababucci brother with is already on. Us two (Fettuchini and Rigatoni) have had prior rounds with Tucker Alps (don't remember his Key) and busting his chops. We didn't assault him in these rounds, just poked fun and roleplayed to attempt to extort money from him in exchange for protection in case anyone tries to hurt him.

Anyway. He says stuff and my buddy and I roleplay that he should stop insulting us (he called us incest brothers which I thought was funny but kept it IC). He didn't and we said if he didn't stop we'd have to "teach him a thing or two". My intention was to hit him with a crowbar a few times and that was it. However, he disarmed both of us and ran over Rigatoni (my friend), so we roleplay as if we are going to get revenge by beating him up a bit.

I want to stop to give a disclaimer. We are not griefers. we did not have the intention of killing him, just "sending a message" in traditional "mob" style.

Were you antags? If not, why were you acting like antags?

  11. “Em” is a term used as a neutral substitute for He, him, her, she, etc. It is taken from Orion's Arm.

    Read, Sierra. READ.

Herp. I have a (probably bad) habit of skipping over the notes section of whitelist apps, focusing on the IC stuff. I don't recall interacting with any of your characters, but I like the backstory. +1

  12. I personally quite like the concept of Xinic (even though they pretty much share your username/ckey). However you've had very little feedback on it - so while it's been open for... a while (beyond the normal operating range), I'll give you three more days to advertise your thread in OOC (once per round) to get feedback. If you do not get any feedback, I will mark this thread as denied.

    Best of luck!

I thought you didn't need community feedback for an approved whitelist? Jackboot posted on another thread saying that if there's no feedback, then it's up to the judgement of the loredev in charge of the application and whatever's written in the application.

I'm a bit confused by the usage of 'em' in the backstory; Is this a replacement for he/she? Or a second name Xinic has?

  15. Something that I think will help you out with this application (And apologies if you're already doing this; Been busy with my job so havent been following the github tracker lately), would be to fork a copy of the Aurora code and start working on bug fixes, small projects, little experiments. See what Skull or the dev team might want you to toy around with, and then send a pull request with the finalized code. It'll give you a bit more of a solid 'Here, this is something Ive done as a coder already for you guys'.
