  1. BYOND Key: TopBirb Character Names: William von Trust, Breail Balamory, Aria Mab-Nerellane Species you are applying to play: Integrated Positronic Chassis Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: I have. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: Playing an IPC intrigues me for its narrative complexity and also the dynamic between IPCs and non-synthetic crew members fascinates me. I'm drawn to the aesthetic of the IPCs and the idea of portraying a character that straddles the line between artificial intelligence and human-like behavior. The gradual development of emotions and adaptation to organic culture could provide a potential in the RP that I'm excited to explore. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Playing an IPC involves a unique blend of machine and human traits. Unlike humans though- IPCs lack normal emotional responses and social cues, leading them to interpret interactions in a more logical and methodical manner. Their speech patterns often reflect a more direct, sometimes formal communication style, and their understanding of emotions tends to be more learned than instinctive. However, this is entirely dependent on the IPC and what it has been through or been created to do. Character Name: IRU-65 Adam Please provide a short backstory for this character IRU-65, also known as Adam, started its tenure within Idris Incorporated as an asset reclamation unit. Born from the assembly lines tailored for assertive customer service as an "Adam" Shell IPC model, Adam swiftly earned a reputation for its efficiency and precision in handling delicate situations. Tasked with reclaiming overdue assets from delinquent clients, Adam operated with a consistent, programmed protocol; execute the directives, exercise reasonable force, and aim for peaceful resolutions whenever possible However, during one routine retrieval operation, a conflict arose with a client refusing to comply. Despite following the standard protocol, the situation escalated, prompting Adam to employ "reasonable force." The incident resulted in a considerable public outcry locally but was quickly censored. Adam, an IRU-65 unit employed by Idris Incorporated, faced a reassignment following the controversial incident. Recognizing Adam's programmed aptitude for investigations and problem-solving, Idris loaned and reassigned it to the Security Department of the SCCV Horizon, a diverse installation. This transfer aimed to leverage Adam's skills in resolving complex security issues within the environment of the Horizon. As an Investigator within the vessel, Adam's role now capitalized on it's data processing abilities to address security concerns on the Horizon. What do you like about this character? He is less human than a lot of the IPC characters, while able to negotiate and converse in a reasonable manner, he still doesn't understand having empathy for another sentient being. Though there's room to grow, he is a faceless, shackled, an owned Idris corporate asset who puts their interests first and is not afraid of using "Reasonable Force". How would you rate your role-playing ability? Solid 9/10. I've been roleplaying for many years. Notes: If you haven't noticed already, I love the idea of playing shackled/owned IPCs and being completely sub-servant to a corporate entity. As traitor, I may do some espionage on behalf of my corporation, or I may malfunction and go rogue somehow, maybe I'll be an extremist hiding in plain site. I have other IPC ideas such as the usual Bishop chassis or Shell IPC servant/cook. Maybe a Shell IPC which was made off a largely marketed line of what could be summed up as housewives or maids to maintain homes and cook for families. I also had an idea for another Idris security IPC but an ISU Heph GT who is another corporate goon. I know they may be loaned to the SCC and assist in enforcing their laws and regulations but the idea that the loaned IPCs still have a backdoor for their respective owners to override their loyalty to the SCC just sounds excellent. Would I play a free/unshackled IPC sometime? Maybe! Probably in the future!
  2. EDIT: "-change the world-" to "-get anything-" Note: Didn't like how I worded it.
  3. BYOND key: TopBirb Discord Username: excessive.force. Character names: William von Trust (Playing as a passenger who is a notable investor currently) Breail Balamory, Chaplain Aria Mab-Nerellane, QM/OM until it got whitelisted How long have you been playing on Aurora? I actually used to play a lot some years ago but got busy with other things and took a break! But I'm coming back into it and it isnt too different from when I last played. Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? None! Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame? Well the purpose of a Head of Staff within the game is to ensure an engaging and enjoyable experience for all players. They act as leaders, guiding and facilitating roleplay, conflict resolution, and maintaining the game's atmosphere. As a Head of Staff, I would generally prioritize fostering an interactive environment, ensuring everyone has a chance to do something, and offering support to newer players. My goal is to create an interesting and immersive roleplaying experience where everyone feels valued and involved, enhancing the overall experience for all roleplayers. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them? By setting an example by upholding the server's rules and guidelines, providing guidance and assistance to newer players, and actively contributing to a positive and enriching roleplay environment. I would strive to uphold these responsibilities by being approachable, supportive, and interesting in all interactions. Being attentive to the needs and concerns of fellow players, I aim to foster an inclusive and welcoming roleplay experience, ensuring that everyone feels included and valued within the roleplay. Explain how the recent events in the Spur changed your character and how they came to be employed on the SCCV Horizon. William was too changed by any particular events other than wanting Captaincy to sate his lust for adventure and power. William von Trust was given Captaincy of the SCCV Horizon through the intricate connections he cultivated within Solarian high society and the powerful Solarian Corporate Conglomerate. His prominent standing in Lunar society and substantial finances enabled him to have considerable influence. Leveraging his connections within corporations like NanoTrasen and Idris Incorporated, among others embedded within the SCC, William acquired the role of Captain. His Captaincy wasn't just purchased with wealth however; it was the outcome of a firm hand in the expansive corporate realm, and ensuring the vessel serves both his interests which are the collective interests of the SCC. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? My main intention is to play the role of Captain, creating a very interesting and interactive character for any and everyone to interact with and enjoy interacting with. However, I'm also open to exploring other roles. My focus remains on contributing positively to the roleplaying environment and having fun myself. Have you familiarized yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? I've refreshed my familiarity with the wiki pages for command roles. While I have an understanding of the guides and rules, I recognize the importance of maintaining a separation between my knowledge as a player and the character's knowledge within the game. My character may exhibit minor ignorance in specific areas, ensuring a more realistic and immersive roleplaying experience without compromising their position as a Captain and harming the atmosphere. The character I intend to employ for the Captain's role is William von Trust. Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking: William von Trust, Captain Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? I acknowledge that my whitelist is not permanent and is subject to review, respecting the guidelines and committing to upholding the standards expected within the server's roleplay community. Have you linked your BYOND account to the Forums? Yes I have! Extra notes: I would like to mention that while I am a returning player I believe my character would be perfect for returning to and hopping to a position of leadership. So I'll give some details about the "glorious" Captain von Trust; William von Trust is a Lunar elite, bearing a name steeped in Solarian high-society. With vast wealth and influential connections, he revels in opulence and power. Arrogant and indulgent, he navigates society with a commanding air, using nepotism and his financial prowess to get anything according to his desires. If I get blessed with going on trial I'll be able to go more in depth with his connections. The gist is that he BOUGHT his captaincy, while he does make the bare minimum requirements for being a Captain he still has the interests of the SCC at heart because a profit for them is most definitely a profit for himself and his elite friends on the Board of Directors of the SCC.
