  1. oh, nice... gah, how to fix this... P.S. fixed
  2. BYOND Ckey: Stationworker337 Discord username: Last stand crew Character names: Amy Veir, (Mr.))) William Freeman Species you are applying to play: IPC ------------------------------ Now, something you really should know about me to understand my writing: english isn't my first language and i'm pretty bad at it, so remembering the ask for well articulated answers i may do it wrong, so i'm sorry in advance, back to the application. ------------------------------ General Whitelist Requirements Have you read the lore pages for the species you wish to be whitelisted for?: yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this species?: 1. Playing only on one species (i have no whitelist on any species right now) sometimes gets boring, so i want to try something new; 2. I have played this species on other builds, including more RP focused like baystation, so i have some experience with that; 3. Playing as a synthetically created person, coming from personality, not human, many people return to this problem: machine is commonly considered not alive, but what if it has a personality? There are many projects like films, games and books, that raise a question about this, let's remember old classic "I, Robot" from Isaac Asimov, but these same projects also illustrate other side of synthetic life, like "Matrix" or "Terminator", where machines aren't "restricted" with feelings, emotions, and instincts, those think only efficiently, what i want to say with this is it's an interesting experience, i had to interact with players who played on IPCs, someone acted like human, some acted like complete full "stupid" machines, i want to try it myself now. What makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a human?: Compacting, rewinding and rethinking about what i mentioned in third paragraph of previous question, synthetics, let's say, biologically, aren't considered alive, and some people think like it, then others think more philosophically, like "I think so i'm alive" treat synthetics like somewhat equal to them, some treat them as a potential threat, etc. I want to say with this that, first off, others approach you differently, sometimes significantly differently, and second, coming from the paragraph again, usually, you have more options for your character, because your base isn't restricted with being a human, you can be dead-hearted machine, you can have feelings, you're not human, you are different. ------------------------------ Character Application Character Name: E.M.I.L.Y. Write a backstory for your character. This may include their origin, education, personality and how they arrived to the SCCV Horizon. Emily (is a brain, I.ntegrated in a **shell model** P.ositronic C.hassis) was constructed in 2452 at planet Biesel by some robotic company for a commercial medical company, specialized as nurse, named by workers, who thought it'd be funny if the name was not only human, but also an acronym. Emily's job was pretty simple: get something, assist somewhere, babysit someone. But company administration soon realised, that their robot gets damaged much by accidents, little negligences of co-workers, customers, so after ten years of work Emily wasn't really repaired, and most of the time was all in clothes, only showing that face with long gone smile, because facial expressions system repairs were mostly stopped too. After another five years Emily was in so bad condition and could only do some cargo job, because already scared customers, and eventually got sold. After being sold for almost no price because of condition Emily was sent for a fundamental repair right away (and it costed around 70 k standart credits, now let's remember how much does usually a new shell model IPC cost))). New owner was a veteran of Biesel invasion, his name was George. George was a 76 year old man, who bought Emily for housework. After some time it was fully clear that George won't last long, since he got a brain cancer. George was desperate for leaving something behind him, so he freed Emily and gave a will of all his possesions (giving last one order: live). Some time later, Emily was wandering around, working part-time jobs, looking for something that would fit, and someday, while taking a walk somewhere outside a city, Emily got in the center of a gunfight. Emily ran to a nearest cover, only to realise, that it is already used, and got disabled by an EM pulse. After activating, first thing sensors realised was the fact that shell has no damages, but most systems were locked. some time later Emily realises that the thing happened was two PMCs fighting each other, one of which was from PMCG. The one, who recovered Emily was one of Sekhmet IG workers, and, after a little chatter, they offered a job in their company... A couple of days, and Emily signed up for job in Horizon as an EMT trainee. Maybe that is the job... How has the recent events of the Orion Spur impacted your character? Events such as the Phoron Scarcity, the Solarian Collapse or even the Invasions of Biesel for interstellar-wide affairs, while region-specific events such as the Peacekeeper Mandate, The Titan Rises or even Cold Dawn may impact your character. Emily was owned by a company and wasn't informed of anything much, always working, always on duty, most she could know was some rumors from patients, co-workers, but that's mostly it. Emily's next owner George wasn't talking much about politics (rather about life, death, glass of vodka on the table (local joke)), and after getting the freedom Emily actually didn't spend much time, the fateful day came pretty soon, so Emily knows from little to zero, and it didn't affect her much... How does your character view the megacorporation they work for? Emily doesn't think much about that, but could say one thing: "Despite it being called a corporation, PMCG is a group of PMCs and the one i'm working in is mostly commercial medical aid company... Nothing much about it."
  3. akhem, @FabianK3, i'm sorry if you thought i wanted to ban you, now, about your... how do i put it... okay, let's be straight, i guess, answer: i really appreciate you for explaining it, and spending so much time just to make it clear for me, i mean... it really answered everything i wondered about, at least, from the point of a player, now, i am bored right now and that's why i'll spend some of my time to comment some of your quotes: First things first, when i mean to scare the antag away, i thought it was easily understandable that i meant i wanted to let the hostage free out of his hands, well, i was wrong, sorry. Now, about asking admens to do anything: you know, i played SS13 alot, i realised many things and got a bit skilled in some other things, i got banned... alot... for different reasons, you know: toxicity, powergaming, VALIDHUNT, not like really hunting, no, it was just... it was actually stupid) SO! It was a regular round on build paradise, a rus server, i went security medic and his standart PD equipment is pepper spray with flash, when i saw three officers already dead near a changeling i just started spraying him and when i ran out, i took my flash, i mean, i could of run or try to retrieve at least one officer while the ling was sprayed, but no! i just standed until other officers putted his killing spree to an end! Anyway you get my point, i hope, that's why now! now whenever i play a role, see a problem that'd be better dealt with, but there's no appropriate staff, or they are incompetent, etc. i ask myself a question: may i do it? sometimes i forget i was not qualified to do something, like one round ON AURORA i asked if i can take xeno guns to deal with gremorians AND GOT PERMITTED))) i broke in with a HACK, i didn't use an axe, nah, i remember how it is violent and such and just moved on with a "better" solution, i got warned))), but! still i try not to do something i probably can't ICly and if i REALLY WANT TO, i ask, not me already, but admins, i think that's enough and you already understood what do i mean, and i know, i know that sometimes admins are... in a bad mood or something, but still rules are rules, and if you break them without asking for permission, then i'm afraid, my friend, you'll get banned, you know, i'm not like you, i mostly can't see those opportunities where i can do something with formally breaking rules and getting out in one piece using great arguments and logic to make sure everyone's fine, but anyway i gotcha and next time i'll do it better. Then, about the keycard: i am okay... uhh... yeah, that's mostly it, i get ya, a captain's spare is a real deal thingy and etc. but it was so hilariously stupid that i couldn't get out without access, i mean: i got in but i can't get out?! what if i get in vacuum?! that's so stupid))) And also about you never doing anything to secure the antag: did i say anything in OOC that it was stupid or bad?!?!?!?! really! the topic was ONLY about one question, and the question in a nutshell is... you know... from my opinion in a nutshell it sounds like: "What the #### is this?" no other way to describe my feelings back in that day... Last, definetly not least: Thank you, whatever happened in the round, regardless of my feelings, people, choises done in the round, maybe someone misunderstood me, really sorry, i really thank you and those who were in the round actively interacting in the main story telling, those, who decided to even read my complaints and stupididly elaborated questions, and mostly you, Fabian, for explaining everything to me. Oh, and also any caps lock, exclamation sign, etc. wasn't me being furious, i just tried to... make it... expressed and more understandable, or something, i'm done.
  4. When i look at those "white" shoes in character loadout redactor my eyes just hurt, because their soles look like those've been in mud, can somebody fix this?
  5. @Fyni what about at least morgue access, what can go wrong with this?
  6. I want to give to all subtitles of intern additional access that depends on their subtitle, you know: resident surgeon will gain access to operating theatre, paramedic trainee will gain access to paramedics dispatch office and so on, and also to give them access to morgue, why don't they have access there? it's jsut morgue, what's the big deal? The reason for this is simple: i know, that it's training role and logically you shoulda be supervised by a real team member, who has expirience in this field of work and can guide you if you don't know something, or done something wrong, but almost every low pop round i join as resident surgeon i have to break le door to the theatre or pray that at least a paramedic will come or captain, etc. but that's just ridiculous, every normal medic from team just gives guest pass because they know you need it, almost every time captain and chief med officer agrees to give additional access to your card, because you should have it, otherwise there may be a situation you lost a patient because had no damn access, or you couldn't take paramedic RIG to go in space, or you couldn't make chemicals, etc. etc.
  7. @Jasorn, i think second way to fix it, i mean, one of mine is better, it's sprite lets you know that it's for keeping biologically hazardous objects, and if it's size qould be bulky, there'd be no problem, it's just like portable organs refrigiator
  8. well yes, don't abuse it, but what about those who wants to do it, i mean, i did it for a while, because it's pretty usefull and nice, but there's people who aren't like me, i mean, i did it most of the time only to store uniforms because of RP, but i'm going to stop, i think i found a solution to this, but anyway still there are people who will use it for more usable things like ammo, just like i said, so it's better to make powergaming through this just impossible
  9. This thing is powergaming item, so! it's same size as a box; it can hold objects of normal size (it's own), but not boxes, you know where's that going: strechers, helmets, pistols and SMGs, etc. ; it's holding capabilities are 16 tiny items like a syringe, that means 5 normal sized items and one tiny item at most, just imagine SMG and 8 mags to it in such a little box, now imagine whole satchel of those (7 items of normal size in a satchel/backpack max) what do i propose? first thing is to make it contain only what i was meant to contain from it's NAME: shrapnel, glass, etc. BUT this box can hold those items, it's... idk, it looks normal for it to be able to, SO i came with another disicion: make it bulky sized, you know, it has a sprite with bio hazard insignia on it, that means it was actually meant to hold anything biologically hazardous, like a suit that's irradiated or something like that, but it's size is just powergaming if placed in a bag
  10. @Loorey, well it wasn't self-defence, and yes, it wasn't REALLY hunting down, just saving others, but still i clearly said that i wanted to scare antag away, gun is just factor that'd tell if he'd be scared, i never meant to hunt him down, while THOSE hunted him and cuffed, no matter that it wasn't lethal, no matter that no one got hurt they pretty much risked and, as someone said of admins, should of have a really good reason to do so, i'm continuing this topic because there are some things that aren't clear to me
  11. well then why did other players do what i asked if i can? yet again (i won't get tired to say this) they were not security, it was not self-defence, but still they risked their and others lives (hostages) to stop the criminal, though they did it without casualties there was a possibility of someone getting hurt (and one of the crew eventually died because we didn't at least check for all of his pockets so that he wouldn't get out but it's not the topic), the topic is: are they going to be banned for their activities, @Loorey some more: i mean, seriosly, i even asked in A-help if they asked to get permission do something about this antag, admins said that they never got permission oh, one last thing: i guess i probably look like i want to talkshit or something, but the problem is i'm so confused, i wasn't permitted, they did what i wanted probably without permission and i wonder if they even never got warned that they broke game rules... i just need an answer
  12. i do not know if i chosen the right topic to ask this, i do not know if i even had a right to write something like this, but i will be happy if there would be answer from at least five admins which are pretty much same with the idea: "yes", or "no"
  13. It's not much of a complaint, rather a question, though i'm still sad that it happened somewhy, but on the one before round with ID cAJ-dzKM there was situation like this: somewhat 12 people, and maximum 8 joined at the start, there was no security, i mean, really, no one was playing on sec, and i was on character Amy Veir, surgeon resident, next, our miners get on aim of a random with their gun and this assailant wants bluespace drive, what do i know right now? one of miners called for help through main channel and didn't say anything else, while second didn't know what happened to first and got hostaged too, so no more info, all crew thought it's just miners got hurt so i went for captain's spare ID card, knowing that it should be somewhere around his office, to gain access, then i take paramedic's RIG and ask what's up, go to hangar and see a random pointing his gun at engineer, what next, you ask? now fun begins: i ask A-help whether i can scare antag away with a big gun i could find in armory... just to rescue hostages, nothing else, while he says: "want to do something like this, play security", well, i knew that i would be probably rejected with some reason like i (somewhat) quoted, but then happens something i am pissed about! there's still no security, no, only a cook, cargo tech and yet another engineer joins round (maybe someone else, but no security, at least from start of the round and till the end of story i'm telling, i mean, after last event i told ya somewhere around end of round one officer joined), but atmos tech (i don't remember his name) asks for that spare cap's ID card i had, and with Radiance (R&D worker) engages! they take a gun with something like tranquiliser and handcuff him, though first attempt was unsuccessful and he drawed not just a revolver type pistol, but a rifle, other stuff i'm furious about is already IC issue so i won't go into much detail here, the main POINT is that players, who have chosen jobs that aren't connected to security by any means did something i wanted to do, but got rejected because of playing job that's not connected to security! Now, what the question is? can players do security job if there's no security on shift? at least to save other crew or whole ship??? because it feels like some admins just don't understand situations or something like that, OR any player who do this just get noted or even banned! i just want an answer, because i don't understand what's going on now...
