Elijah is an old name, coming from the promised land of Jerusalem over 2,500 years ago. It has a special meaning, that contradicts it's owner in this story. Elijah means, "My God is Yahweh." Here's a story of a stone-cold bureaucrat. There's a lot of those, so get ready for another one. He's from a little slum in Mars, a place called "Swindon". He lived with his father Daniel and his mother Freyde at an apartment above a veterinary clinic. Swindon Veterinarian's Office, it was called. Freyde Marie-Blumstein was a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. There's not many animals on Mars, though. Work comes by rarely and that dream of an Earthbound girl so many years ago isn't helping her survive. They live off of Daniel's slavery to a fat-cat in Downtown Swindon; like Swindon, but slummier. This fat-cat's name is Marco. There's a lot to tell about Eli, too. He's a kind, sweet-hearted boy with nothing on his mind but to grow up and be just like his mommy. He walks around wearing a white coat with Eli etched into it, treasuring it like Smeagol to the Ring. He's got a little room with a window facing an alleyway. The window opens to a little balcony, and welded into the fire-escape is a stargazer. "Papa says I can only use it during a power outage," he told his relatives at family get-togethers. In short, he got to use it plenty. He's got a small pair of rectangle eyeglasses, as myopia travels through the gene pool rampantly now. His head is covered in bright blonde hair, he's got a downwards facing nose and thin cheeks. Elijah was seated at his desk one day, facing the window. To his amazement, he saw a boy across the way, looking at him. "But that apartment is empty," he thought to himself, "Nobody lives there... unless!" He stood up, opening the window. The cold, dry air of Mars came piercing in and Elijah coughed, stepping out onto the fire escape. The boy standing at the window watched him approach, unsure of what to do. All around him was the night sky and brick. His ears caught the sound of cats fighting down the way and little Eli got distracted. He turned to face the commotion before a door opened with the sound of a bell. Then he saw his mother with a rapid-fire syringe gun in hand. He always wondered where she bought that strange thing from. Toosh, toosh, toosh, toosh. The cats are all asleep now! Eli faced his friend again, but he was gone. That's disappointing. There came another day, when Elijah was just shy of 11, when Freyde called him into the clinic. Rushing down the steps, he burst into the room to see what the problem was. There he saw a sickly cat, who looked to be in pain. It was covered in claw marks. His expression went from excitement to sadness. Freyde had something in her hand, when she extended it towards Eli he saw it to be a gun, held by the barrel. "Take it, my boy. I need to teach you something today," Mother said in a serious tone. The cat cried in pain, worming around with it's appendages strapped. Eli was afraid, but he took the pistol in hand. Freyde walked behind Eli, leaning down beside his ear, holding onto his shoulders. "I need you to put this kitty down, Juli. I know you can. Raise the gun, by the handle." That overwhelming sense of fear when Mother was acting strange, it filled Eli with compliance, with curiosity. He rose the gun, shaking constantly as if he was weightlifting a car. "Take a few steps forward, Juli. Up to the kitty," Mother whispered. "B-but, why do I have tah' do it?" Eli queried, fixed by a sharp, "You have to learn how to put down an animal if you want to be a veterinarian. You're old enough. Come on, Juli," Freyde was so suspicious right now, Eli could feel the fear in his bones now. He wasn't even focused on the cat anymore, who still whined from it's lacerations. He took the steps forward, pressing the barrel of the gun against the animal's head. His mother arranged his fingers into the trigger, holding it still for him. "It'll be okay. Alwhim Awhb At Kl Icirwtiw Apilwbeli Hxiim Hwa Ilk Lgn Edn Iwliws." Mother was speaking in fucking tongues now. "W-what?!" Eli exclaimed. "It's Hebrew, don't worry dear. Pull the trigger." Freyde told him. Boosh. The cat fell still, Eli's ears were ringing. He ran from the room, crying. Freyde almost chased after him, but was distracted by the cat. He collapsed into his bed, sobbing into his pillow. Why would she make me do that, to the poor kitty? Why would she do that? Why?! When he stopped crying, it was his stout father's hands on his shoulders. He pulled him up and hugged him. "What's the matter, buddy?" Dannie said. "Mo-mo-momma made me kill a kitty tooodayyyy!" he made out with his sobs. Daniel was astonished, albeit a bit disgusted. "She... did what?" "Mommy made me shoot a kitty today... I didn't want to!" Daniel left the room. To be continued, unless this is shit.

George VI's Head Whitelist Application
George VI replied to George VI's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I was younger back then. I've been really good in this past month and I'm just asking for one last chance to prove myself. It's been a long time since I had one of these. I believe my last one was in June or July of 2013. EDIT: Thank you, Dea. I'll try hard. -
George VI's Head Whitelist Application

That was over a half of a year ago ( to my knowledge, I don't mean to lie ). I'm only asking for one final chance. One, last, chance, and I'll never apply again. I won't mess up. I've been trying so hard to be polite to the administrators recently. I'm trying to change and none of you seem to notice and it really makes me feel horrible. If you insist that I can not change, so be it, but know that I'm trying dearly. -

George VI's Head Whitelist Application

Fair enough. It seems like you haven't read the entire application, which is okay if you didn't. I did lose my white-list for bad behavior as a head. I apologized, many times. I understand that some things can not be forgiven. -
BYOND key: King George VI Character names: Elijah Blumstein, Vandad Rostami. How long have you been playing on Aurora?: Since its creation. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: For the head roleplay. Why did you come to Aurora?: Because I didn't like Laser50. Have you read the BS12 wiki on the head roles you plan on playing?: I normally have them open while playing, just to be safe. Please provide well articulated and argumented answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay is the creation of a character in a Universe set by either yourself or another person and playing out their actions. There's plenty of ways to role-play. You could play a simple soldier's role in a flash game online, that's role-playing. You could also play Old Man Henderson and have so long a backstory that nobody has the patience to read it all. Roleplay is simply an activity, done by writers or aspiring writers, to pass the time and escape from the harsh reality of the world. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: The Head of Staff's responsibilities are to maintain the department that they head; that's a given. However, all heads are supposed to communicate well with the other heads and provide their council to most issues the station faces, unless it has nothing to do with them. A head is supposed to ensure that the people below them are at least working, via controlled chaos; or they could hold them down with the Iron Fist, should they have the authoritative power. Really, a head of staff is supposed to put structure into the story and the position is supposed to give character's something to strive towards. Everyone wants to be the boss, but only a select few can make it there. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: A whitelisted player needs to be present often. They need to be responsible and keep good relations with the community. They can not break the rules, minor or major. Being whitelisted is a privilege that I have lost so many times. Here I go again, to try and get the privilege back. I've said a thousand times that I won't screw up again and every time so far I've broken that promise. This time, however, I really have stopped getting so serious about the game. I don't get mad at it anymore ( and I never should have ). This time, I promise to uphold the responsibilities of the whitelisted player and try my hardest to make some scenarios that are enjoyable to other players. Please pick one of your characters for this section, and provide well articulated responses to the following questions. Character name: Elijah Julius Blumstein. Character age: Forty-Seven. Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs): Elijah was birthed from Freyde, a veterinarian and grunge doctor in a slummy district of Mars. His father, Daniel, was a factory worker who commuted daily to a colony in Sol. There he made military uniforms. Elijah was a focused child and avoided socialization, only really talking to people if he needed to. In his early life, a factory accident caused by the foreman killed his father, and Elijah grew to rely on his mother and friends. He was offered a scholarship in Boston, Massachusetts, on the planet Earth; which he accepted. He completed his residency in the Earth Province of New Hampshire, at the city of Manchester in Elliot Hospital. After his residency, the contract he signed over 8 years before then came into effect and he was put into employment aboard the NSS Odin. There he worked for over 20 years, until recently he was transferred to the NSS Aurora for surgical duty. This happened on November 19th, 2456. Now, on January 19th, 2457, he's applying for the office of Chief Medical Officer. What do you like about this character?: Elijah is a character that I have had for over 3 years. He's very heavily developed and I've played him in a plethora of settings ( HL2RP, SS13, D&D, etc ). His back-story is something I've refined very heavily over the years and I know it by heart. He's my favorite character and I've been playing him on here recently. What do you dislike about this character?: Elijah, although heavily developed, seems a bit Mary Sue. Do you think this character is fit to be a Head of Staff?: Yes. Why?: Elijah has over 20 years of experience, a doctorate of medicine and a bachelors of pharmacology. He's been everywhere from the sewers of the HL2RP universe and removing bullets from the needy to the vast expanses of Space, operating with advanced surgical tools from research and development. I believe that Elijah would make a good head of staff. Please provide well articulated and argumented answers to the following questions. How would you rate your own roleplaying?:Somewhere between a 7.5 to an 8.5, I am normally modest but a recent game of Dungeons and Dragons has convinced me I'm better than a lot of folks. Extra notes: I chose Elliot Hospital in Manchester simply because I was born there and I asked if many of the Earth locations would still be around with the same names and I was told they would. If it seems too specific, just lemme know and I'll put a different hospital name. By the way, Argumented is not a word.

George VI's Head Whitelist Application
George VI replied to George VI's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I didn't insult you when I got into an argument with you all. I've always been argumentative with staff because you are always presenting ultimatums and keep taking an attitude of "supreme arbitrator" rather than "first among equals". It's a game. I complained because I can. Many a time have hostages rose up against their kidnappers ( to which the kidnappers out gunned them and out numbered them ) and won. Example, during 9/11 the passengers of Flight 93 overpowered the hijackers of the plane. Although they were outgunned, they were not out numbered. I thought in that moment that the security officer would start fighting alongside me when I started fighting the kidnappers, to which they didn't. So, that point is entirely wrong. I complained about the turn of events not because it was done poorly but because I could no longer play for a hour and a half and was forced to observe until becoming a security cyborg later on. Next point you have made, stating that I don't always follow the path of logic and I am unwilling to communicate with you and your team. Sadly, it seems every time I have to communicate with you guys is when I've somehow done something wrong. I'll agree with you that after the first round of a playtime, I begin to get a bit bored / rowdy and cause trouble, but me just simply defending my point that you jumped way to fast to put down my "courageous acts are okay" argument is not me being "unwilling to communicate" that's me attempting to communicate with someone who didn't even wait to hear me out. In short, I have not been getting into the same incidents that I used to be getting into. I see no problem with arguing a point with an administrator as that is part of defending oneself and their point of view and is a right to every person ever. Using the point of the hostage rebellion as a way to try and show that I am bad at roleplay is also another failed point, as I explained why courageous RP is not bad and gave examples of how courage in that situation have been used in real life in a very real situation. I did not complain to administrators about how I was killed in the hostage situation, I merely complained that I was killed because I can and did not mean to cause conflict between the hostage-takers and the players because of it. I hope my viewpoint isn't too argumentative for you; just trying to defend my point. I'm certain what I've put here will be used against me somehow, as history here has shown. EDIT: I thought on the 9/11 point and noticed how that situation helps to explain me even more. The passengers of Flight 93 were certain that their death was coming ( which it did, sadly ) and they fought against their kidnappers as a last ditch effort. Mordechai at that moment was also certain that their death was approaching, as was promised by the raiders themselves, so as a last ditch effort attempted to rise up and attack them, hoping his comrade would help in the effort. It's strange how even now, when I made no comment of the things I have done, Frances, you have come here on your own will to personally un-support this; it's almost as if you take a "us vs. him" attitude. -
BYOND key: King George VI, previously Napoleon IV. Character names: Elijah Blumstein, Mordechai Farache. How long have you been playing on Aurora?: Since its creation. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I like head RP and feel as though I'm ready to try again. Why did you come to Aurora?: I didn't like Laser50. Have you read the BS12 wiki on the head roles you plan on playing?: Yes. Please provide well articulated and argumented answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay is a variation of writing and acting in which people take on the role of another person, whether they are fictional or non-fictional and play out their actions. Roleplay allows people to romanticize themselves, create a person of their own or very well just enjoy an afternoon. Roleplay to me, personally, is something to do while I waste away my teenage years. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: The purpose of a head of staff is to maintain their department. To form a hierarchy in a department and allow a figure of authority to give command to other players. A head provides interesting RP for their department and does not allow the game to grow stagnant. History has proven, mischief and hooliganism often accompany boredom, especially in the young players of SS13. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: The purpose, as stated in the last paragraph, are the same as the responsibilities. Being a head in this game is a responsibility in itself. A head must not be constantly absent without proper reasoning and a head must not exert daily angers upon other players IC. Being a head is a promise that you are above the average player. That you have transcended above the grey tide. Because of this promise, a whitelisted player must be willing to give to those who have not or can not transcend above average player accepted gameplay and good times. A whitelisted player plays the game to make others have an enjoyable time before they do. I will not allow my personal boredom to exceed the communities want for a good time. Please pick one of your characters for this section, and provide well articulated responses to the following questions. Character name: Mordechai Henry Farache. Character age: 32. Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs): The tale of Mordechai is a short and sweet one, as the best comes after the end. Mordechai was born to a upper middle class family in the suburbs of Mars; his father a foreman, his mother a veterinarian. Growing up, Mordechai was homeschooled by his mother and spent a lot of time at the clinic. There was a stress between his parents that Mordechai never really seemed to notice, but when he was soon to be a graduate, it erupted. The foreman who he called Dad left one morning while the two were at the clinic; never to be seen from again. When Mordechai graduated, his mother retired. As a sad old woman, she couldn't ask her son to do a thing. Conflict arose between the stagnancy of Mordechai and he left his mother for a scholarship in Olympia. Young Mordechai often wrote to check on his poor mother. There was little on Mordechai's mind inside of the University, simply to get through and off to a colony as soon as possible. However, he couldn't help but to speak to a few people. Befriending his room-mate Kelly, he and the young woman became very close to eachother. Around this time, much later than usual, Mordechai began to notice how he didn't really like women. Upon receiving his doctorate, he took a year of vacation and visited Sol. Overwhelmingly disappointed, he decided not to pursue a life as a Sol medical doctor. Seeking work, he saw many options for a young doctor and picked NSS Aurora, for it's tasteful name and location. What do you like about this character?: Mordechai is a very realist and passive-aggressive character. He pursues power and authority with two-faced behavior and isolationism. He's got a heavy potential for story and I am hoping to make plenty. What do you dislike about this character?: I dislike the lack of story behind Mordechai. Mordechai was made as a character just less than a month ago. Do you think this character is fit to be a Head of Staff? (Please note that Head characters must be over 30, unless given special clearance): I do. Why?: As stated above, Mordechai constantly strives to reach the top. He's quite ambitious and humble about it, much like I am in real life. He has little to no workplace relationships which allows for neutral and just judgement and heavy potential for growth. Please provide well articulated and argumented answers to the following questions. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: Almost at an 8. Extra notes: If you happen to see any spelling or grammatical mistakes, point them out please! And, no mercy.
