[Accepted] Waff-AI's IPC Application
KazMartell replied to Waff-AI's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Waff-AI's characters always seem to be very muchcharacters, if you know what I mean. They are alive! I haven't had the pleasure to RP with any of them terribly often, but any time I do I feel like they're very well fleshed out. Seeing Waff-AI play an IPC would be probably amazing. +1! -
BEHOLD! ALL 11 MECH FIGURINES IN ONE SHIFT!
KazMartell replied to Absynth's topic in Denied Applications
I would also throw my vote in for this to be in the hall of fame. It's something two people spent an entire round trying to do (and honestly I can think of plenty of people who would literally waste an entire day off trying to achieve a goal like this.) They also did something no-one has done before. I would say it doesn't matter so much if it happens again- if someone else manages to replicate the success, good for them. It's not Hall of Fame material to do the same thing as someone else, but only if you beat it... and they already got all 11. -
VileFault, I don't see that as an option to add. I do very much enjoy Survival when I get the time to play it though- I have an existing Survival world right now, played a bit with Complete Garbage already.

Alright, couldn't figure out how to directly attach them, so here's an Imgur album. http://imgur.com/a/7lSNm

Go ahead and add me on Steam, name's the same as my forum name. I'll show you guys how to play and give you a tour of the Exodus!

BYOND key: Kazmartell Character names of all involved: - CCIA Lyla Rathen - Tpr Martell - And Starring, Martin Woollard - Guest Stars; Sam Lowe, Miles Houther, a bunch of Synthetics (CRASA, R.E.R, Mining Cyborg 922) Jan Fischer (Deadchat), Simon Greene, basically everyone else Documentation of the event, Link to post/Screenshot in game. If multiple screenshots please compose an album: HEAD ADMIN(Itzal) says, "Hey" HEAD ADMIN(Itzal) says, "Anyone wants to play DO escort?" These fateful words began what would become a short but sweet adventure for myself and the crew as a whole. I was chilling, as one does, in Deadchat while working on my Space Engineers SS13 map (shameless plug). I had about 20 minutes before I needed to go, and I was informed that it normally doesn't take much longer than that. Jan Fischer informed me that it's a hard job because 'You have to be careful not to do anything about anyone.' I responded with "What's the worst that could happen?" I would rue those words. I had the time and it sounded like it was a worthy cause, and so spawned Tpr. Martell. There were some Centcomm shenanigans and then we were off. The initial part of the CCIA interaction was as boring as one might suspect, involving some talking and my position as the Guard being surly and burly. Then things began to commence. [Common] Miles Houther asks, "Oh, we got fancy visitors?" [Common] Simon Greene asks, "What?" [Common] Miles Houther says, "There's a shuttle docked at arrivals. Ya know, besides the usual one." [Common] R.E.D. D.A.W.N. states, "a CCIA is here" [Common] Tpr Martell says, "That belongs tyo CCIA Officer Rathen." [Common] Miles Houther says, "Ah, alright. No one informed me, so." CCIA Lya Rathen stood up to get away from the recorder and message the AI. [Command] CCIA Lyla Rathen says, "AI? If you wouldn't mind, please close the airlock leading to our shuttle." [Command] R.E.D. D.A.W.N. states, "Martin Woollard boarded it" CCIA Lyla Rathen glances back to the trooper. Tpr Martell nods. [Command] R.E.D. D.A.W.N. states, "Alert" [Command] Tpr Martell says, "En route." [Command] R.E.D. D.A.W.N. states, "the shuttle has been boarded by Martin Woolard" [Command] R.E.D. D.A.W.N. states, "IT JSUT DEPARTED" [Command] R.E.D. D.A.W.N. declares, "ALERT!" [Command] R.E.D. D.A.W.N. states, "Shuttle has been hijacked" [Command] Tpr Martell says, "Well... that's less than ideal." The AI announced that Woollard stole the shuttle, and there was much mockery from the crew. Martell indicated that he was going to get some handcuffs; at this point it was assumed that, lacking any CentComm access, Woollard would be forced to return sooner or later and face justice. He sounded panicky and indicated he was going to return, that he was sorry, and was generally playing the fool who knew not what he did. Now, unbeknownst to me, quite the affair was going on at Central Command. Some CC staff had been spawned and engaged Woollard, who had been given a subtle hint to go into the ERT armory for one item in particular. He used an EMAG to steal an all access ID, got into the armory, and returned on the ERT shuttle. [Response Team] A.L.I.C.E. states, "THE SPECIAL OPERATIONS SHUTTLE IS PREPARING FOR LAUNCH" [Response Team] CCIA Lyla Rathen asks, "What now?" [Response Team] A.L.I.C.E. states, "ALERT: 45 SECONDS REMAIN" [Common] Martin Woollard says, "Okay" [Common] Martin Woollard says, "I am coming back on the ERT shuttle I think." [Response Team] A.L.I.C.E. states, "ALERT: 30 SECONDS REMAIN" [Common] CCIA Lyla Rathen says, "How in.." [Common] Martin Woollard says, "I got a new mech with me, and a gun" [Response Team] Tpr Martell asks, "How the hell did he get in there?" [Common] Martin Woollard says, "I will pick you up" [Common] Martin Woollard says, "I work here now" [Common] Miner Cyborg-922 states, "Oh for fucks sake Martin" [Common] Sam Lowe says, "What" It was only afterwards that anyone even found out that CentralCommand was actively fighting him. I think the most impressive bit about this was that he had no admin assistance outside of, reportedly, a subtlepm to plant the idea of the Mech. Otherwise he'd have died then and there. The ERT shuttle landed. That's Dark Gygax. A lightweight exosuit used by NanoTrasen Heavy Asset Protection. A significantly upgraded Gygax security mech. It's fully intact. It's equipped with: the LBX AC 10 "Scattershot" the SOP-6 grenade launcher the teleporter the energy relay He was ordered to get out, but instead he sprinted away, past the Captain, DO and Guard, and the Detective. Then a five minute chase around the station ensued, while Woollard shouted about his innocence and lack of understanding- while also trying to make sure he got to keep his job. Further enhancing the madness that became of this round was the ION Rifle's effects on the Synthetic staff, which Tpr. Martell brought out from the armory. R.E.R. says, "YIKES" [Medical] CRASA states, "Welcome aboard, Doctor Godswood." [Common] Simon Greene says, "Fucking moron" [Command] Tpr Martell asks, "AI, Location of the rogue?" [Medical] R.E.R. says, "They have an ion rifle" [Medical] CRASA states, "As you may be able to gather, we are exper-" [Command] R.E.D. D.A.W.N. states, "Outside chapel" [Medical] CRASA states, "Please run." [Medical] R.E.R. says, "Unit is hiding in medical" [Common] CCIA Lyla Rathen says, "One last time, stop the exosuit where you are and await retrieval." [Medical] Tpr Martell says, "That's me. You're safe." [Medical] CRASA states, "Run. Fear. Sorrow. Fear. Terror. Fear." Every time the poor Synthetics saw Tpr Martell they began fear protocols. All this time, the Crew and Woollard are having respective freak-outs, and a legitimate ERT is being formed on Central. [Common] Martin Woollard shouts, "I can't stop it!" [Common] Martin Woollard yells, "Its going 100 MPH down the halls!" [Common] Deidre Godswood asks, "Might I suggest the AI emping it?" [Command] Sam Lowe asks, "What kind of weapons are on the Mech?" [Common] Anna-De'lis'cerr'ri Cal'ie asks, "OF THIS STATION!!!?" [Common] Anna-De'lis'cerr'ri Cal'ie asks, "ORRR CC?" [Common] Martin Woollard says, "YES THIS SATTION" [Common] Martin Woollard says, "STATION" You fire the ion rifle! CRASA states, "Woe." [Common] Simon Greene says, "HOW" [Command] CCIA Lyla Rathen says, "Unknown." [Common] Anna-De'lis'cerr'ri Cal'ie says, "FORRR FUCKS SAKE" [Common] R.E.R. says, "AAAAAAAAAAAAAA" [Common] Martin Woollard says, "I STOLE THE ERT SHUTTLE TO GET BACK" [Common] Martin Woollard says, "HELP" CRASA states, "No. No. Fear. Woe." [Common] Simon Greene says, "YOU FUCKER" [Command] Sam Lowe says, "Great" [Common] Anna-De'lis'cerr'ri Cal'ie says, "DON'T CAUSE A FUCKING BRRREACH" [Command] R.E.D. D.A.W.N. states, "the exosuit control console cannot identify the mech" [Common] Martin Woollard says, "IM NOT" [Medical] Deidre Godswood says, "Why is there a Dark Gygax in medical." There were a lot of golden moments. CCIA attempted to get him to get out by declaring it a multi-billion dollar machine, the synthetics continued to freak out at every passing of Tpr Martell; (CRASA appears to be panicking, or doing some analog of such. [Common] R.E.R. says, "AAAAAAAAAAAAA") And things progressed to a head. CCIA Lyla Rathen started talking to some of the crew about a New Gibson installation, and Tpr Martell and Woollard started fighting in the halls. Alas, poor Mining Cyborg 922 was caught in the crossfire. [Common] Martin Woollard yells, "I know how to shoot it now!" [Common] Martin Woollard yells, "COme here ERT MAN!" [Common] Churrankachur Mrrahrar says, "Engineerrring" That's Miner Cyborg-922. It looks slightly charred. Its cover is closed. It appears to be running on backup power. It doesn't seem to be responding. *---------* [Common] Martin Woollard Laughs [Common] Simon Greene says, "FOUND IT" Tpr Martell says, "God damn." [Common] Anna-De'lis'cerr'ri Cal'ie says, "EMP IT" [Common] Simon Greene says, "NORTH OF BRIG" Dark Gygax fires the LBX AC 10 "Scattershot"! You fire the ion rifle! [Common] Azza Nazkiin says, "FUCKING GIVE US A LOCATION" [Common] Anna-De'lis'cerr'ri Cal'ie says, "EMP IT" Dark Gygax fires the LBX AC 10 "Scattershot"! Tpr Martell is hit by the bullet in the chest! You feel something rip in your upper body! Tpr Martell is hit by the bullet in the chest! The bullet shrapnel sticks in the wound! The wound on your upper body widens with a nasty ripping noise. Tpr Martell is hit by the bullet in the chest! The bullet shrapnel sticks in the wound! Tpr Martell is hit by the bullet in the chest! You fire the ion rifle! Something feels like it shattered in your upper body! Tpr Martell screams! Your movement jostles the bullet shrapnel in your upper body painfully. Tpr Martell screams! You hit Dark Gygax with the ion rifle. You fire the ion rifle! The ion rifle is not ready to fire again! Your movement jostles the bullet shrapnel in your upper body painfully. *click* You feel broken bones moving in your upper body! Something inside your upper body hurts a lot. You feel dizzy Tpr Martell says, "God fuckin' damn..." [Common] Martin Woollard yells, "Your ION has no effect here!" Out of ION charge and having been shot multiple times by the now madly laughing Woollard, Tpr Martell is killed. The rest of the adventure carried on without me. CCIA Lyla indicated that the exosuit was probably a combat prototype from CentComm, rather nonchalantly. A wild firefight ensued, but eventually the several ERT members were able to finish off the Dark Gygax and kill Woollard. By the time I was cloned (which was remarkably fast, good job to Medbay), the pieces were getting picked up and I had to run for a bit. All in all it was such madness and such a rare occurrence, and so perfectly executed on the part of the Antag without being griefy, I think it deserves a place in the hall of fame. I encourage anyone else who got a good view of the event to add their own parts, as well! Have you read the application rules??: Yes! Have you made sure this incident didn't result in administrative action? Admin/Mod chatter after the event seemed to indicate there was no action that needed to be taken. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Why does this moment deserve a spot in the Hall Of Fame?: The fact that an Antagonist successfully stole from Central Command and went on a brief rampage is amusing in itself. The crew reaction was fantastic, and it provided quite the fascinating little event for at least a good portion of the currently active players. Are you certain we are all laughing together are not shaming someone?: Absolutely, praise be to all those who participated. Final thoughts/anything you want to add?: "What's the worst that could happen?" GG Printer. GG.

I asked about this a couple of days ago, but! I figured I'd make a post here as well. There's a few among us who play Space Engineers as I understand, and I've been working on a project to make the Exodus in the game. When I get done I planned to release it in the workshop, but until then folks are welcome to come check it out- just let me know and you can come jump in. For those who don't know, Space Engineers is a sandbox game where you can build space ships and vehicles of various kinds, as well as space stations and ground installations. There's a Creative mode (which is what I am using for this large build) where you are invincible and have unlimited tools to build with (and everything is built instantly.) In Survival mode, anything you build requires a large array of crafting components and time to build it. The Engineering portion of the game is really incredibly fun, and if anybody would be interested in a Survival game every so often, I would definitely be willing to run one. It's not easy though! Meteors frequently barrage your location and traveling pre-generated ships will provide danger in space, and planets are inhabited by cyberhounds and giant spiders. It's also got a huge modding community with ships people have built, new parts (a lot of which are survival compatible), and tons more. Anyways! That's basically what I came here to post, and I'll check this out every so often if anybody is interested. Just lemme know!

Kaz Martell's IPC Application
KazMartell replied to KazMartell's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I was thinking that its being of Skrellian origin might make the most sense, but I didn't see much on the IPC page about Skrell vs. Human IPC personalities. I left its pre-NT backstory kind of open as a result, but I think it being Skrellian would mesh well with the limited resources it was given to operate autonomously after being "freed." Thank you guys, though. Very glad to hear this is looking better. =] -

Kaz Martell's Head of Staff Application

Again I failed to copy the entire sheet, for which I apologize. And I know my description of 'What is Roleplaying' sounds kind of generic. I assure you that I didn't copy it from somewhere though! Also, it's only partially because the server needs folks for Head positions, I do think I'm fully capable (and more than willing) to handle the role of Head as well. I will finish the sheet up and let you know when that's done, so so sorry again. -

Whoops! I'm sorry, I must have missed half of the application when I copied it. So sorry. I thought it seemed really small. I'll get that done ASAP and check over the wiki too. Sorry! -
BYOND Key: KazMartell Character Names: Kaz Martell Species you are applying to play: Integrated Positronic Chassis What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): (I had left this out since it says IPCs are exempt; but for completion sake, Black for one and kind of a gunmetal blue for the other.) Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes! Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: IPCs have been my favorite and first choice as a race since starting to play the game. None of the other alien races appealed to me. IPCs also strike me as interesting, because a lot of the time my play style tends to focus on efficiency and job completion rather than the more human pursuits of forming relationships and making money. That's not to say my IPCs don't want either of those things- far from it! But there's a very different sort of reasoning behind a synthetic mind, and I feel like I can play it very well. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: As I stated above, most of it stems from the different kind of processes of the mind. That's not to say no human would think like my IPCs do, but the personality quirks I assign to them tend to be more interesting, I feel, coming from a synthetic. Character Name: Ansible Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Ansible is a former communications relay AI meant to assimilate and disperse high volumes of data in a short amount of time. Due to the fact that most of these communications were dealing with high-security or otherwise sensitive data, the Ansible AI was not allowed to have any form of communications modules installed- and the communications satellite on which it was housed made it entirely isolated. Eventually the satellite was deemed unnecessary. The Ansible unit was uninstalled and placed into a different module that allowed it to make text-based messages, after a sufficient number of core data wipes to ensure that no traces of sensitive information were left. Despite being over fifty years old now, Ansible was very interested in continuing work for NanoTrasen. The lack of any proper skills had left it unreliable as an option for most departments- but it was very dedicated to working, and so, has been contracted out a Chassis and has been working in the labor-intensive Supply departments. Ansible is unable to speak normally- lacking a vocalization module- but has learned to communicate through sound clips and hastily recorded files of co-workers speech patterns. Unfortunately it has very little RAM dedicated towards these files, but it plans on upgrading that when it can afford it. It also has a static covered IPC screen, which Ansible can occasionally direct into a 'face' of sorts, which it usually uses to show emotion rather than try to speak it. What do you like about this character? Ansible was my second character, and the one I got the most life out of on Horizon. A lot of crazy things happened to it, but it remains my favorite character. My playstyle as Ansible is very work-focused, with whatever job I get- usually mining. Finding ways to communicate without speaking normally, i.e. using either clips from other people in the round, or quotes from various things (within reason, of course), or just intoning with a series of beeps, is fun for me to work out. From a character to character perspective, Ansible is very supportive of his fellow workers, and is eager to try and learn- more about how to be a walking machine than performing different duties around the station, to which it is mostly disinterested. I also like the history I've had with it; Ansible at one point on the Horizon was suffering from a hallucination glitch which eventually resulted in the creation of, essentially, a deity. I don't see that happening again- the series of events that led to it was entirely chance, and partially done by moderators, but the fact that it happened at all was great fun and I look forward to starting Ansible from scratch, seeing what kind of interactions I can get with people. Character Name: Wattson (Mk.II) Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Wattson is a purpose-built IPC specifically designed to handle Engineering assignments. He was built, infused with all kinds of Engineering knowledge over the course of fifteen years, and then given physical training for another three. By the end of it, he had become an Engineering machine- literally. Wattson is completely dedicated to NanoTrasen, having been built for the express purpose of managing NT stations. While very stiff and, to a casual glance, uncaring towards other people, he has a great passion for ensuring that power is constantly flowing. Wattson has a monotone voice synthesizer, which has led to its adoption of mood related prefixes. As a result it's very easy to read, as it has a tendency to be very honest with exactly how it wants to come across at any given time. What do you like about this character? Wattson is great fun to roleplay. For one, I enjoy performing Engineering tasks, as there's usually always something to do. For two, Wattson has a very... I dunno, stoic demeanor? Engineering is all he knows how to do really, but damn if he won't follow orders to a T. If the CE tells him to go kill a slime, he'll hunt the thing with a crowbar until told, no, that's not how you do that, use this. Etc. Basically, I enjoy playing him because he's direct and has a surprising amount of personality in him, but isn't confined to the limitations of Cyborgs. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I like to think I'm a very good roleplayer. I stick to the role of my character, don't metagame with outside knowledge- unless given a very good reason to do so, and in such cases I'll usually ask about it/have to be told- and above all I make sure that my characters have character, even if it's buried under a couple of layers of machinery. That said, I know I have plenty of failings. Sometimes I step over my boundaries and do something that my character wouldn't logically think to do, himself. I can't think of any specific instances but I know it's happened before. Notes: So sorry for having skipped probably literally half this sheet and half of the other one. I hope this time it's satisfactory! Again, please let me know if there's anything I can do to better it.

Kaz Martell's Head of Staff Application
KazMartell posted a topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
BYOND key: KazMartell Character names: Kaz Martell How long have you been playing on Aurora?: Off and on for about 2-3 weeks, and for a few weeks about six months ago? Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I've noticed there's not always enough Heads to cover each department. I, and Kaz, have had a lot of experience as Head of Personnel and as Captain, mostly on the NSS Horizon. Why did you come to Aurora?: My first foray onto the Aurora was in search of better RP, when the Horizon was hitting it's rough death. Since starting to play SS13 again, the Aurora seems like the best RP server around. Have you read the BS12 wiki on the head roles you plan on playing?: I usually keep the Wiki open on my other monitor for quick reference pertaining to any job I perform. That said, I've also read over it a few times and have a fairly good understanding of what is and isn't okay. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplaying is defined by playing the role of another person. In this context, I am playing the roll of Kaz Martell, Captain/Head of Personnel of the NSS [Enter station name here.] This means that I know only what a Captain should know, barring anything he may have picked up from his past before there. This also means that he has expectations from what he expects from others. So to Roleplay is to interact with other people, who are in turn playing the role of someone else. One of the more important aspects of Roleplaying, for me, is being sure to keep the line between character and player well and truly uncrossed. Out of Character knowledge, metagaming, and other such instances, can utterly break a game's entertainment value if one party is operating under the assumption that such things are okay, while the other is entirely immersed. It's the immersion into the universe of SS13 that should be key. I bring my own things with me wherever I go, but the core concepts- being a member of NanoTrasen, operating as a supposedly competent Head of Staff on a highly valuable research station- mean that a high degree of respect for the source material is necessary. Additional Statements: Firstly I'd like to further elaborate that I try very hard to ensure that I keep any meta knowledge to a minimum. I've been playing the game for some years now, and so most of the surprises of the game are far past me. That said, I know that the most important reason to play the game is to have fun- and it's an Antagonist's role to bring excitement to a round. As such, I know that even as the Captain, my IC knowledge per-round needs to be based on facts encountered in the round. A teleporting individual is going to be assumed to have a hand teleporter, or some similar derivative. Cult happenings will be investigated properly, not assumed to be a threat out the door. Etc. I'd also like to say that, in my previous experience as Captain, I try very hard to ensure that I act precisely as the Captain of a ship would; namely, I don't take 'off' time in the Bar unless it's an exceedingly slow shift, I don't assume direct control of any situation unless the relevant head is not available, and I leave the other departments to their own devices for the most part. What I do do as Captain is make departmental inspections, keep an ear and an eye out for any issues that happen to stumble my way, and deal with any situations that look like they may get out of hand. If the Singularity is about to hit level 5, I'll throw on some Mesons and go shut the Particle Accelerator off, but if I'm getting reports that there's a problem with the engine I'll just sic the CE on it. Etc. Kaz as a person only has knowledge of Civilian affairs, Security matters, and basic Engine maintenance. He doesn't know pretty much anything about Medical, or much about Science, other than that we need results from it. Similarly as Head of Personnel, I'm usually going to be in my office and making sure the Service and Supply departments are keeping up with workload. As HoP I may take over as Quartermaster, if there is none, and of course Temporary Captaincy if the need arises, but other than that I stick to my department except in the most drastic situations. I hope this is good enough! I know I'm not a big player on the server and, character-wise, tend to keep to myself, but I roleplay almost all the time with D&D, Warhammer 40k, and a couple other systems, so it's kind of a passion. If not no worries, I'll still be around. I enjoy non-head positions more often than not, because it's a higher chance of getting to play an Antagonist (and less responsibilities), but sometimes it seems like we need more good heads. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: For me the OOC purpose of the Heads of Staff is to ensure that the game can continue running without having to resort to breaking character. For instance, if there are no Engineers, the Head of Personnel can give someone who has knowledge access rather than make everyone hack through doors. More importantly it gives the round a purpose to have the Heads of Staff on hand to dish out objectives and expectations. While the role of the Antagonist is undoubtedly more important to provide activity for a round, the Heads are the ones who should be taking charge of the situations and delegating tasks so that everyone is included, or at least as included as possible. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: It seems to me like being Whitelisted- especially for a role such as Captain- means taking things seriously. Respect peoples' characters, but don't let them just walk all over yours. It also means that the Whitelisted player needs to respect the potential power they have in their hands, and make sure not to abuse it. I would expect a more strict adherence to the rules, especially the roleplaying rules. Another very important aspect is having the authority to control how someone else spends their round, to an extent- as Captain especially, if someone is not performing their job, it's important to go through the proper channels to ensure they either do what's necessary for the round, or get put in a position to make sure things go more smoothly. But just demoting someone isn't exactly fun for the player- if the player themselves aren't being personally antagonistic, and it's just the character, forcing them into a position where they won't have as much fun means having to make a choice, ICly as much as OOCly, what to do. For instance- permanent brigging should only occur if the player will have company, or else it should be handled differently, such as by Cyborgification or a 'house arrest' style situation, where applicable. Please pick one of your characters for this section, and provide well articulated responses to the following questions. Character name:Kaz Martell Character age:42 Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs): Kaz Martell is from the Nalin Rim, a section of Human-controlled planets roughly Spinward-Trailing of Earth. While there's little of great value out there, it's an unfortunate matter of fact that the area has seen a great deal of internal conflict. Raised amidst this, Kaz spent many of his early years performing minor labor, and eventually joined one of the local militaries for four years. NanoTrasen started coming into the area around the time Kaz had served his term. In his mid twenties, and having lost most of his family to the ongoing strife, he elected to jump onto the NT Bandwagon for the hope of a better life. He got this, for the most part. Predominantly serving in Civilian sectors- he had grown an aversion to hostilities- Kaz spent over ten years performing as a bartender, cargohand, Quatermaster, and moved to Engineering for a brief stint before eventually moving back to the Civilian department and applying for Head of Personnel on his current posting- the NSS Horizon. From there he worked diligently, occasionally rising to take up Captaincy, but for the most part remained under the radar. What do you like about this character?: Kaz is my go-to character these days. He's dutiful and knows when the time to get serious is- but he's also got it in him to joke around. He's very formal while on duty, and more often than not, off duty as well. To, with that said, I like playing him because I get to be sociable while still maintaining an air of competency- which I try to match with actual capabilities, as well. What do you dislike about this character?: Because of the fact that Kaz is usually focused on completing his job, he doesn't usually have much time to be social- which is an unfortunate fact about a lot of my existing characters, save a couple who I haven't introduced yet. He also doesn't work well if he's not in a position to be useful, and can be frustrating to play in such instances. What do you think makes this character fit to be a head of staff?: He follows orders and has a good enough head on his shoulders to know when he should delegate tasks or take them over himself. That said, he's not blind to orders- unless he's Captain or otherwise Loyalty Implanted, receiving a command from NT to, say, kill a Crewmate, will result in his working towards detaining the individual, if that, but not looking to just kill them because he's told to. He'll investigate matters that he feels are for the well being of the crew. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: I like to think I'm a good roleplayer. I follow the guidelines and work hard to make sure that I don't overstep my boundaries, as far as what kind of information I should have IC versus what I know OOC. As a Head of Staff I also work very hard to make sure that my decisions are fair, and, more importantly, keep the round as entertaining as possible for as many people as possible- all of us are here to have fun, first and foremost. Extra notes: I hope that's more fitting! Please let me know if anything is amiss or lacking.
