[Denied] LemonTheFruit IPC Application
LemonTheFruit replied to LemonTheFruit's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I don't consider this answer on-point, and it is the most important question. The question was not, "What is different about IPCs from humans." It is "What makes roleplaying an IPC different from roleplaying a Human." Your answer sounds like only the start of a real response to the question. Furthermore your reason for playing an IPC is no different than playing any synthetic. I am not detecting any sort of character traits, either, beyond tabula rasa. I think you could just as easily accomplish this as an Engineering cyborg, and after growing as a personality, becoming digitized into an IPC. This would make a better character arc. Thank you! I enjoy actual feedback. I will certainly keep that in mind. I feel like editing this application after it's already been submitted, while it already has some feedback to it, would be bad form. So, I'll make sure to focus more on that section if the situation presents itself. I would like to note however, that the whole draw of this character is that it will start with no character traits. Basically, all of its personality would be developed from interactions with various crew. -

So, to address the only left complaint. Apologies for bitching, I suppose? I can't do much more than to say that I understand how to roleplay. Dunno how much more I can give there. -

I told your character to get on the ground. They did not. They were shot with a firearm that was set to automatic. -

I've recently started a GURPS campaign, and without going into any detail, I'm playing an artificially intelligent robot. I'm looking to replicate that character concept here, a character of massive potential with very limited knowledge. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Within the lore, IPC's are different because of a few different things. First off, they're always created by another race, designed. Either they're made by an entity, or a group of entities. Or, in some cases, they simply find consciousness within the vast pool of code that is the interstellar internet. Character Name: PAL:0S Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs The PAL project originates with its designer Kevin Mann, an employee under Seabra Robotics, a very small collective that specialized in the creation of robotics that would aid humanity. PAL:0S's beginning parameters are that of construction and emergency repairs. He is currently qualified in matters involving the repair of station systems and electronics. What do you like about this character? This character concept is one of great potential, as stated above. Once deployed (Deployment being defined as first activation), the personality takes on its assigned role. From there on, it will begin to take in data from its surroundings, and adjust its performance based upon what its experienced. PAL:0S plays as if a newborn was fast-tracked through childhood, to adulthood in a matter of a few years. This concept, coupled with the idea of playing an emotionally undeveloped, neutral entity is a genuinely exciting prospect. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I'd rate my own roleplaying ability highly. Whenever I'm in a session of tabletop, I'm always commended on how I can always stay in character, no matter my character concept. Notes: This is a re-upload, as I've reduced my playtime of Jimmy McFly to a minimum, as per request. So that people can see my capabilities.

LemonTheFruit - Player Complaint
LemonTheFruit replied to UnknownMurder's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
I actually didn't break any of the rules regarding posting in this subforum? I'm pretty sure of it. I think that if I were to ask anybody regarding your conduct as a player in-game and out-of-game, I think I would get a fair deal of testimonies regarding what I've pointed out. A good majority of the playerbase prefers to not get involved in this sort of thing, but I will respect that. In addition, what do you expect people to do? They see something happen and they talk about it. Hell, right now it's only made public because it's what complaints should be filed for, to discuss issues being brought up by the community at large about someone in particular, that being you, in regards to a set behavior that you've been following. It's not malicious nor insidious to discuss with people you know regarding what happened on the server. It would be malicious if we actually did anything about it aside from making a complaint, as is our right and what we are told to do when we have a legitimate problem with players acting the way they do. I think I've been rather nice with you too, I've only gotten to the point regarding the issues that I, for certain, and several others, most likely, take issue with when it comes to your conduct. So the point regarding me constructing ad hom stuff is invalid, because that's not true in the post I made. I'm not sure if you would be one to police me in this regard, given a complaint discussing the same conduct (this one, actually) has been put up against you. And, again, I've been pretty nice. I think I can consider myself involved, because I was ghosting in LOOC at the time and I did bear witness to the nasty insults and salt flung the way of the OP and anyone else, not to mention some deadchat shenanigans accompanied with that. I've been warned about this before, too, so I think I understand the specifics of what consists of "too far". Well, okay. That's actually ad hominem because it does nothing but attack others personally. But it's your choice if you don't want to answer the complaint seriously, nobody expects much aside from being nice to people. If you have a problem with me, again, bring it to my attention personally. I will address it. This topic has to do with a specific incident, and you've not contributed anything to that incident. I'm not being condescending, or mean in any sense. I'm pointing out that this is the wrong place to post, if the issue is what you feel about me. I understand that you and Unknown seem to have a thing against me. At the least, it's not cool to harbor complaints behind my back. Again. PM me, this is not the place to talk. -

In regards to this, I genuinely can't take the post seriously. About ten minutes after this incident, UM was sticking his full head into the sliced open stomach of a prisoner. If you're going to critique my behavior, please watch your own. -

You wanna discuss this, please talk to me. I don't appreciate the implication of people talking behind my back. I'll await any sort of PM or anything from you and these "Other Players". Also, for convenience, I'll state three of the forum rules, rules that you agree to by posting. -Stay on topic, this means that the posts should be constructive and focus on the complaint itself only. Any off-topic post made will be removed and met with a reminder to remain on topic. -Do not use ad hominem. This means do not attack a person's character (character in this case meaning the mental and moral qualities distinctive to an individual). You are expected to argue the presented ideas, not the person. If someone were to attack you, don’t take matters into your own hands, report it to us. -Only post if involved. If you are not a moderator or administrator and were not involved in the incident(s) referred to, you may not post or reply to a player complaint regarding said incident(s). -
LemonTheFruit IPC Application
LemonTheFruit replied to LemonTheFruit's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I am sure I have seen Jimmy McFly as a Cargo Staff, whether Miner or Cargo Staff. So, it's about me now? It's my fault? No. This is YOUR whitelist, we're talking about YOUR character. I have never applied to be an IPC. I should remind you again that the Command Staffs hates your character. Please clarify. I am interested in this. What makes Jimmy tick off is a excuse to be a dick, but not himself to be a dick? Okay. We still haven't seen them for a long time. You tend to frequently use Jimmy McFly over all your characters. Since, my other statements still remains not to be noticed or unanswered. Staying at -1. Also, Owened and I are talking about the same thing about you but in a different tone. You're too focused on Jimmy McFly. It's obvious. I apologize if you took anything of what I said to be accusatory.. I'm sensing upset, and I'm sorry that you feel that way. I was under the impression that people liking me as a person was irrelevant. The only thing that should matter in this setting is my ability to roleplay, and my knowledge of the role I'm applying for. I understand that you may not have experienced my extended roleplay, which is basically what I was getting at. In addition, if this is going to be based on how people think about ME as a person, and how people view Jimmy, as opposed to my knowledge of this role, I'm never going to be able to successfully get approved for any whitelists. I've got an abrasive personality, and I can recognize that. BUT I also pride myself in my ability to roleplay in a manner that doesn't necessarily have to connect me to my character in all aspects. I can be a different person if that's needed. That's what I want to do with PAL:0S. On another note, that post is not an attempt to sway your opinion, I respect your opinion, as it is valid. I'm merely trying to explain myself for other people, and shed light on my case. -

I'm excited to get started with my character, but I don't want to rush anything. If you feel the need to postpone judgement, I understand. However, I'm also fine with a decision based on what's currently presented. Basically, do whatever you'd like to. I'm fine with anything, and I'm confident that things will work out. I've put enough effort into what I'm applying for, that I'm not too anxious about what the outcome will be. -

In regards to this, I understand how you feel. Though I have entirely roleplayed out how Jimmy has gained his skills. All are from extended periods in internships, and vocational education. I've actually put him through cadethood before becoming an officer, I've put him through engineering apprenticeship, and all that jazz. On a side note, I've never played him as a quartermaster. He's not a leader, at all. As for the lack of roleplay, unfortunately, you being Alex is the disadvantage here. I extensively roleplay as Jimmy, and the people who are more likely to see this roleplay are those that Jimmy gravitates toward. Otherwise, his interactions will be snarky, or (unless they entertain him,) brief. I won't spoil anything about my extended character flaws here, but through extended roleplay, players HAVE seen what makes Jimmy tick. He's not just an excuse for being a dick. I've probably been rambling, but still, just some more explanation. PAL:0S is supposed to be an original character in any case, it'll be an offshoot of my borg/AI, but they will NOT be the same. The name is just something that's stuck with me. -

Thanks for taking the time to review, man! I intentionally play Jimmy as the daft type, I created him when I first joined, and that's how he's developed as a character. I stated the warning about Jimmy because he's got a love-hate type thing about him. Either people love him, or hate 'em. Partly because whenever Jimmy identifies someone as a jerk, or sees that they're a bit too stiff, he'll start trying to push buttons. Just a bit of explanation on 'em. His sister Violet is the opposite. She's a tad eccentric, but always tries to be on the good side of everyone. Since I play Jimmy the most, I fear people will mistake his personality for a lack of capability on my part, which is why I feel the need to explain myself. -

So, I'm still hoping for a resolution on this matter. I have contacted Skull, hoping he'd be able to help with logs regarding this incident. I'd also like to note that if I were truly trying to be a nuisance, I'd not take the time to faun over all of this. Aurora's pretty much the only server I play on, and I really dislike not being able to enjoy it due to a small accident. -

I can confirm shuttle doors are bolted normally. As a drone, ai, or borg, you can toggle a door's bolts by holding down CTRL and left clicking on then. Anybody else would have to screwdriver the panel and manually pulse the bolt wire with a multitool. Either it wasn't bolted, or was unbolted prior to me getting to it. If logs record such a thing, they will corroborate that I did not unbolt the airlock. -

I implore you to attempt a recreation, as that is not the case. I merely tapped left, and it opened. Also, would logs not show this? -
BYOND Key: LemonTheFruit Total Ban Length: 4320 Minutes (3 Days) Banning staff member's Key: garnascus Reason of Ban: "opened the emergency shuttle airlock as a maint drone and spaced someone.." Reason for Appeal: End-round grief is punishable by an automatic 3-day ban. The moment the shuttle docks with the station, all conflict is expected to end in and around the shuttle boarding area. (Escape and adjacent corridor). No conflict is allowed on Central Command, after shuttle arrival. (As quoted from http://aurorastation.org/rules.html) My actions were not of conflict, nor were they in any way intentional. To start, and explain the situation in its entirety, I was scooped up and dragged on-board the emergency shuttle against my will, by Joao Marcos. Following my escape from him, via the resist IC action, I was stuck wandering aboard the shuttle. I meandered around the shuttle, looking for things to repair, and found myself near the airlock. On attempt to move down, I hit the wrong arrow key, and moved left, instead of down, causing the airlock to open automatically. (This is something I didn't even know was possible.) Several people were spaced from the airlock before I could close it again, in my panic. I'd also like to note that I apologized profusely to the attending admin, and to anyone nearby in looc. Now, I understand that rules should apply. I feel as if leniency, and a bit of understanding should be applied in this situation. I also understand I have previous offenses on my record, including two prior warnings. Those I'd like to dispute as well, if that is the issue at hand.
