George VI's Head Whitelist Application

Recommended Posts

BYOND key: King George VI

Character names: Elijah Blumstein, Vandad Rostami.

How long have you been playing on Aurora?: Since its creation.

Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: For the head roleplay.

Why did you come to Aurora?: Because I didn't like Laser50.

Have you read the BS12 wiki on the head roles you plan on playing?: I normally have them open while playing, just to be safe.

Please provide well articulated and argumented answers to the following questions in a paragraph each.

Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay is the creation of a character in a Universe set by either yourself or another person and playing out their actions. There's plenty of ways to role-play. You could play a simple soldier's role in a flash game online, that's role-playing. You could also play Old Man Henderson and have so long a backstory that nobody has the patience to read it all. Roleplay is simply an activity, done by writers or aspiring writers, to pass the time and escape from the harsh reality of the world.

What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: The Head of Staff's responsibilities are to maintain the department that they head; that's a given. However, all heads are supposed to communicate well with the other heads and provide their council to most issues the station faces, unless it has nothing to do with them. A head is supposed to ensure that the people below them are at least working, via controlled chaos; or they could hold them down with the Iron Fist, should they have the authoritative power. Really, a head of staff is supposed to put structure into the story and the position is supposed to give character's something to strive towards. Everyone wants to be the boss, but only a select few can make it there.

What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: A whitelisted player needs to be present often. They need to be responsible and keep good relations with the community. They can not break the rules, minor or major. Being whitelisted is a privilege that I have lost so many times. Here I go again, to try and get the privilege back. I've said a thousand times that I won't screw up again and every time so far I've broken that promise. This time, however, I really have stopped getting so serious about the game. I don't get mad at it anymore ( and I never should have ). This time, I promise to uphold the responsibilities of the whitelisted player and try my hardest to make some scenarios that are enjoyable to other players.

Please pick one of your characters for this section, and provide well articulated responses to the following questions.

Character name: Elijah Julius Blumstein.

Character age: Forty-Seven.

Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs): Elijah was birthed from Freyde, a veterinarian and grunge doctor in a slummy district of Mars. His father, Daniel, was a factory worker who commuted daily to a colony in Sol. There he made military uniforms. Elijah was a focused child and avoided socialization, only really talking to people if he needed to. In his early life, a factory accident caused by the foreman killed his father, and Elijah grew to rely on his mother and friends. He was offered a scholarship in Boston, Massachusetts, on the planet Earth; which he accepted.

He completed his residency in the Earth Province of New Hampshire, at the city of Manchester in Elliot Hospital. After his residency, the contract he signed over 8 years before then came into effect and he was put into employment aboard the NSS Odin. There he worked for over 20 years, until recently he was transferred to the NSS Aurora for surgical duty. This happened on November 19th, 2456. Now, on January 19th, 2457, he's applying for the office of Chief Medical Officer.

What do you like about this character?: Elijah is a character that I have had for over 3 years. He's very heavily developed and I've played him in a plethora of settings ( HL2RP, SS13, D&D, etc ). His back-story is something I've refined very heavily over the years and I know it by heart. He's my favorite character and I've been playing him on here recently.

What do you dislike about this character?: Elijah, although heavily developed, seems a bit Mary Sue.

Do you think this character is fit to be a Head of Staff?: Yes.

Why?: Elijah has over 20 years of experience, a doctorate of medicine and a bachelors of pharmacology. He's been everywhere from the sewers of the HL2RP universe and removing bullets from the needy to the vast expanses of Space, operating with advanced surgical tools from research and development. I believe that Elijah would make a good head of staff.

Please provide well articulated and argumented answers to the following questions.

How would you rate your own roleplaying?:Somewhere between a 7.5 to an 8.5, I am normally modest but a recent game of Dungeons and Dragons has convinced me I'm better than a lot of folks.

Extra notes: I chose Elliot Hospital in Manchester simply because I was born there and I asked if many of the Earth locations would still be around with the same names and I was told they would. If it seems too specific, just lemme know and I'll put a different hospital name. By the way, Argumented is not a word.

Alright, I'm just going to start this off, by stating No.

And here's why

Over the time you have been with us, you have had head whitelist two or three times. Since you don't have them, I'm going to state there was a good reason. I remember hearing you promise to stop doing things as a captain and then doing them anyways.

Finally, you left after that and the first time anyone recalls seeing you back here you already have an app up. so like I said NO.

Fair enough. It seems like you haven't read the entire application, which is okay if you didn't. I did lose my white-list for bad behavior as a head. I apologized, many times. I understand that some things can not be forgiven.

I would start this off with good things about you OOCly wise, but I don't really know any due to limited experience with you.

Your application is expertly written and in-fact exceeds that which most people apply with, that's really quite good and normally you'd get accepted without issue.

I'm whole-heartedly, entirely 110.5992% against this.

Let me explain why.

Originally you were NapoleanIV. Now, you've wracked up an impressive amount of notes, in fact you have the second highest amount of notes in our entire system.

Just like now, you originally got whitelist quite easily as your application was just as great as it is now, plus you'd started with the community. You respond to criticism politely and intelligently, never resorting to idiotic arguing back and forth. Simply put, your application last time around was all great and dandy.

However, there's a reason you have all those notes. You proved an utter disappointment in every possible meaning of the word. Let's go over the list, You've joined several rounds and immediately disconnected as a head of staff, Murdered a player as head of security as opposed to stunning them despite having that option and the player being defenseless (This one is hard to defend), and immediately after being jobbanned for that previously mentioned incident left the game so you wouldn't "Get in trouble for defending myself", Killed yet another player despite that player too being defenseless and you having other options, Every possible interaction you had with staff was hostile, aggressive and generally undeserved in nature, you've been antag banned as a nuke op because you ramboed onto the station and started a shootout without a smidgen of roleplay, then suicided but not before stating "This was my intent all along" then argued with staff that this was a Nuke Op's job, you attacked a bartender with a diamond drill, then tried to turn the captain into an AI without his permission or an ounce of roleplay, then explained to the chaplain word-for-word how to defeat the cult using his nullrod.

You've proven belligerent, aggressive, asocial and generally a nusience to staff since you started playing on Aurora. You've never apologized for any of these event, and you even openly admit you've promised to change and then didn't do so. I honestly don't see a single reason to approve your white-list

You are more than capable of filling out an application and making it look quite good, but from what I've seen I highly doubt your ability to live up to the promise of the application and play a Head well. Not everyone is capable of filling a white-listed position properly, and I firmly believe that you are one of these people.

That was over a half of a year ago ( to my knowledge, I don't mean to lie ). I'm only asking for one final chance. One, last, chance, and I'll never apply again. I won't mess up. I've been trying so hard to be polite to the administrators recently. I'm trying to change and none of you seem to notice and it really makes me feel horrible. If you insist that I can not change, so be it, but know that I'm trying dearly.

You've had four chances. You've failed four times, words are easily said but your actions are moving a different direction than your mouth is. (I don't mean this to be rude, just saying)

This isn't a definitive "no". But honestly, the two admins that approve headapps (Myself included) are leaning heavily towards "no". You however have three days to change our minds

I was younger back then. I've been really good in this past month and I'm just asking for one last chance to prove myself. It's been a long time since I had one of these. I believe my last one was in June or July of 2013.

EDIT: Thank you, Dea. I'll try hard.

I am very, very strongly against this, on the grounds of three strikes, you are out; and you were fortunate enough to get four; every character I have ever seen you play, back from Sven on Apollo, when it was still good, deliberately go around to ruin the round for others.

On Apollo Laser had to repeatedly warn you for racism, to the point that near the end, you were on your final warning for racist images in your signature.

After Aurora started, you helped Laser disrupt the server.

And everything Dea said about your notes, which I saw during my time as Primary Admin.

It seems every couple of months you come back with a new name, promise that you've changed, and then do the same crap all over again when we take pity on you. It's like trusting the drug addict when he says he's cured because he spent a year in Mexico. You've been given WAY too many chances, and you blew each and every single one of them. I'm wholeheartedly against this.

On the off chance that anybody was willing to give you a ... fourth? Fifth opportunity to be whitelisted, I think you'd have to spend quite a bit of time in high-responsibility non-whitelisted roles before you'd be considered for positive feedback.

I recommend Security roles. It seems clear that this just isn't happening under current circumstances, though.
