Guest
After quite a few situations where new and potential HoS-s (Including myself) couldn't handle the absolute mess that is security, I've came to a conclusion that we need thread where we will keep a record of all the regular and somewhat regular security characters. For what purpose? Security is a depertment that is highly dependant on communication and reliance. As such, each HoS and staff member in general needs to know who they are working with. This would not only work to weed out bad security, but also stimulate them to play better knowing that going off duty unannounced or beat people 4noReisins won't go completelly unpunished. Knowing strengths of characters and skills (EVA training, forensics, first aid, etc.) will also help a lot in the long run. What would it include and how would it work? Things like grading, SSD risk, conduct and general strengths and flaws. Grading and data gathering would be done based on player feedback (both by the player in question and other players), with the consent of the player in question. For example, you want your character at the thread, you post his basic traits and skills, but other visitors to the thread could rate your conduct (unless you have something shitty with your character you want us to know). This could also work for new shitty players who keep doing bad stuff just short of getting banned or reciving a complaint. Who would run the thread and where would it be? Most likely inside Personnel Database here on the forum. I would volenteer to run it with permission of the staff. No shaming/arguing would be tolerated and any modifications to their own characters (including removal from the list) would be done by me (or whoever agrees to run this thing). A simple PM to notify me of wanted change will do considering I'm an active visitor to the forum and log in almost every day. Link to comment
Lady_of_Ravens
As someone who has an atrocious memory for people (and names), I like this idea. Not sure it's a good one, but I like it. Link to comment
LordFowl
It would sort of blur the lines of the perpetuity of the rounds. In one case, neither "metagrudging" nor "metafriending" or allowed in the rules (Explicitly, I do believe, although I may have to check), stating that each round occurs individually of every other round. However, everybody ignores this, because that stifles development. Meaning that what perpetuates and what doesn't becomes an iffy thing. While I for one would gladly appreciate permanent records, memories, and everything (With I suppose antag-rounds having special rules), because it does assist in developing characters. Basically, the entire standing on inter-round relations and the perpetuity of shift events should be examined more closely, instead of leaving it to a case by case basis. However, since you're specifically seeking out the players, or rather inviting the players themselves, I suppose it doesn't truly matter. Link to comment

The rules state that negative experiences are optional (getting murdered, being a traitor, what-have-you) while positive experiences (making friends, advancing relationships) may be retained. Personally I tend to gloss over the details of rounds but retain the general idea, as long as they're not strictly negative. Eliot was once made the only man on a firing squad due to some serious shit that went down, cutting the rest of security off from assisting in the execution we were ordered to perform. I've yet to resolve that overall "issue", but I haven't played Eliot too much lately. Link to comment

Like you said, this is already being ignored, especially in security. Some officers with agressive behavior, constant SSD, demoted multiple times, etc. are remembered as such, despite the meta nature of it. This only speeds up the process and allows fair feedback on the mentined officer, without getting a complaint or having to listen in on being shittalked behind your back. This would not be a complaint board or a security record. Only the examples of above mentioned behavior (repeated) would be included and later, if they improve their game, removed. All of this would also promote some kind of a competition by allowing positive feedback to flow in. Having security fight over the title of officer of the month would encourage good behavior a lot, since security is a pretty thankless job. Link to comment
Nik
Eeeeeh. I don't think that currently, we even have that many regular Security players. Mostly it seems to be what I'd call "Bouncers", people who hop server's to try and get antag/whatever stupid thing they want. That, and this makes Security sound like a Kindergarten class. Barring the jokes about Kindergarten cop, don't know if I like that. Link to comment
