Honto335
BYOND Key: Honto335 Character Names: Faith Ringer, Nahla Nassar, Zaiyah Kraskova, Astrid Askelson, Katelynn Neves Species you are applying to play: Tajaran What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Ivory Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes -------- Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: Well, it's a bit of a tough question to answer really. I have plenty of Human characters from all over the place, but I really want to expand my abilities to RP different characters. At the end of the day I could fill my entire roster of characters with humans, but I don’t think I would be satisfied knowing that I hadn’t tried out something different from what is more or less the same thing. I definitely want to improve my own ability while stepping out of my comfort zone, and while not as far out of that zone as say a Dionae or Unathi, I feel like its a step in the right direction to improve my own experience while enhancing others at the same time. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: The first thing that comes to mind is the Tajaran manner of speaking, the rolled R’s and referring to themselves in the third person. The Tajaran features are very reminiscent of Earth Felines, semi-prehensile tails, toe beans, digitigrade limbs, and thick fur for insulation against the cold Adhomai climate. The Culture of Adhomai is influenced not only by the political climate, but also the distinct ethnicities of the planet. Each ethnicity has a different stereotype imposed by the Tajaran society due to the evolutionary paths each one took. The Hharar as innovators and diplomats, the Zhan-Khazan as the work horses, the Njarir’Akhran as the former noblemen and women from a long line of selective breeding, and the M’sai as the protectors, warriors, and hunters. The political tensions between each ethnicity also apply a different way of interacting with other Tajara, providing an interesting dynamic on station. The current civil-war at a standstill only a short nineteen years after the end of the first means that there is a generation of Tajara that know only war and the destruction it brings, with only a single brief glimpse at what is at best a short interlude before war returned. This cycle of war reminds me of the saying “Hard times create strong men. Strong men create good times. Good times create weak men. And, weak men create hard times.” (-G. Michael Hopf), something that I think opens up a realm of possibilities for RP and character development as the lore progresses. The religious aspects of the culture are also vastly different from what's available to that of humanity, mysticism isn't readily available to humans without having to essentially be the only person worshiping the giant flying spaghetti monster. The Ma’ta’ke pantheon and the S’rand’marr worship both offer a wealth of choices for someone to use when attempting to grow as a character with each having their own religious outlooks. -------- Character Name: Klavdiya Kartashyov Please provide a short backstory for this character Klavdiya born 12/03/2439 to proudly serving members of The Grand People's Army, she was pushed from an extremely young age to follow in her parents footsteps and give her all for the sake of the PRA in whatever military capacity she was suitable for. Her father, ever the softie, dedicated his free time to helping her enjoy the childhood that he did not have. Her mother, however, insisted that she spend her time learning to support her nation in the best way she thought fit. These arguments where always peacefully resolved, however neither parent fully changed their views. For the most part, she had a fairly normal childhood, if not slightly militaristic in nature. However, after the assassination of Rhagrrhuzau Hadii, an event which her and her parents had all been in attendance for, and the subsequent outbreak of another war, saw to it that her life would be her own. Her parents both were called to their respective divisions, her mother to the field hospitals, and her father to the artillery lines. She was left in the care of her mother’s father, a retired member of the police force. He cared for her to the best of his capabilities, and taught her as best he could. When she reached the age to begin seeking further education, she decided upon the Nal'Tor Police Academy, Adhomai to follow in her grandfather's path. During her education at the Academy, she received news of her fathers untimely passing. With his passing, she felt at a loss for direction. She had been encouraged to follow her own path by her father, and him following his own path ended with him dead on a battlefield. She wanted to continue to do right by him, to continue following her own path, but to serve the party to the best of her ability she felt she needed to cut her teeth elsewhere. If she wasn't performing at peak performance, she would only be a hindrance. With that decision in mind, she looked to Nanotransen for employment. A place to become a competent officer without hindering the nation she felt obliged to serve. What do you like about this character? I think that Klavdiya is a fairly interesting character, at least for me, to see play out because she has a strong root to the PRA, but is still striving to seek her own path in life. The inner conflict of returning home to assist with the war fighting against the want for freedom to be her own self. How would you rate your role-playing ability? Honestly probably like a 4.5/10. I know I have a lot of room for improvement, and I really hope that I can continue to grow while also experiencing new things. Notes: Bloodstorm rules, change my mind. (“War is fuck, lets do it” is a real banger of an album) Can we get catbeast hardbass tho? Edit 1: 14/10/2019, fixed lore related issue pointed out regarding backstory, added a bit more backstory after input. Edited October 14, 2019 by Honto335 Link to comment
Maereo
I've roleplayed with them for a long time, they show great ability to roleplay and come up with some really cool ideas. I'm a huge fan of her character Faith, the country bumpkin engineer. I hope they can do the Tajara justice. Link to comment
Alberyk
The answers are fine, but I have some questions about the backstory; 1- what religion does she follows? 2- what are her opinions on the war? Which side does she supports? 3- which job are you planning to play with this character? 4-what exactly are her plans to move to tau ceti? Just get more experience? Link to comment
Honto335
Thank you for the response! Do you want me to update all of this onto the backstory? Sorry in advance for formating, im on mobile at the moment. 1. She is an atheist, Her mother believed that the religions where something made up by the old Njarir rulers and not something that would be useful for her development. 2. She's supportive of the PRA, and believes that the other factions are violent radicals. Being present at the parade when President Rhagrrhuzau Hadii was assassinnated solidifed her support for the party. 3. I was considering the standard four weeks as cadet just to get her situated before jumping up to Security officer. 4. Her plans for moving to tau ceti are to gather more experience in law enforcement so she isnt so green if/when she returns to Adhomai. Link to comment
