Addicitions

With the increasing alchoholics, chronic smokers, and drug addicts on the station, coding in addictions would be a good addition. Going from least to highest you could have a small craving, quite the craving, or a huge craving for X product. In the character creation screen, "Addictiveness" could be coded in, so it's not just as much as an rng thing. The more of an addiction you have, the more it hurts coming off of it. You could raise a fever. The sweats, hallucinations, aching pains, spasms, foaming of the mouth, and the more of an addiction you get, the more of the withdrawal effects you get and the worse they are.

Immersion for the sake of immersion is not always a good idea, in my opinion. Unless it adds some fun or meaningful balance to the gameplay, there isn't much point in considering it. Example: making bullets useless and slow moving in spess.

If this should be a thing, then I think addiction should be set in the character panel. Though, the addictions should be reletively simple, like "Alcohol", "Cigarettes, and "Space Drugs" and perhaps a few other easily accessible things.

The side effects of not consuming the thing you're addicted to should be stress and other psychological effects.

I think Bay attempted to incorporate addictions but then scrapped it when you started eating potato chips and getting addicted.

It's honestly better to just RP them out for now. Maybe in the future, someone can code something in character setup that makes you react to certain substances in a certain way. I dunno.

Addiction isn't something that can happen over the course of one shift. It's the body becoming accommodated to tye substance. Not to mention that people can just RP this out without needing to be bothered with a really annoying looking mechanic.

As Tish and Blue said, it would probably be best to just allow players to RP these addictions out. A new mechanic could be sketchy, and may not actually be the best method of handling an "addiction" RP.
