[Accepted] maniacalFowl Unathi Appllication

Recommended Posts

BYOND Key: ManiacalFowl

Character Names: Isaac Finch

Species you are applying to play: Unathi

What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Sandy/ Orange-Brown

Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yup

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question.

Why do you wish to play this specific race:

Unathi offer a unique perspective in dealing with a nuclear holocaust of recent time. Its very common in many other servers on SS13 to have Unathi simply living in a tomb world but Aurora offers the perspective of surviving and experiencing the disaster first hand. And not only that, both sides of the conflict offer sound ground on which they stood, neither was completely offending as say WW2 which offers amazing roleplaying possibilities and potential conflict with other Sinta aboard the station. Also, all other races are smelly.

Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human

Unathi are different from humans because they were never at the top of technological prowess in the galaxy. They're leagues behind Skrell and Humans in terms of standing on the Galactic stage, barely pushing beyond just Moghes without external assistance. Not only this but they are aliens. Obviously. They by no means are going to react to certain situations and events the same way as Humans. They're a more honorable race and are much more likely to be fractured or set off because of recent events. They are new to dealing with neighbors and it shows.

Character Name: Javiks Ryzsyk

Please provide a short  stupid long backstory for this character (Approximately two paragraphs)

Spoiler

Javiks Ryzsyk was born as Javiks Szevrik in late 2435. Javiks was born to a traditionalist family in the Northern hemisphere of Moghes. His father was a mechanic by trade with a hot head for politics. In the few years before the contact war, the family lived a peaceful life in the industrial city of Szka’Aza, which was situated between the Guzari sea and the Kraki Mountains to the east. Javik’s mother made sure to groom him into a promising hatchling and was already interested in his father’s trade before long. In 2438, the Contact War began and the City called on its people to assist in the manning and operation of giant rolling airfields, aptly named “Warcarriers.” and Javik’s headstrong father was more than willing to fight the good fight against the blasphemous Izweski mongrels. For the next year his father worked on the carrier and told Javiks stories of war after returning from deployments.

In late July, the Ahk’Ryzsyk Warcarrier pulled into the city for resupply and refueling. In the following days, the Szevrik clan enjoyed themselves as usual: Telling stories of war and work, heated political debate, and mourning the loss of fellow clan members. In the early hours of September 5th, the Szevrik household was woken by rattling that shook the whole home. If one were to look to the west, an unusual pillar of smoke was seen trailing behind something sinister. Minutes later, broadcasted over the radio was confirmation of detonation of a nuclear warhead on the Izweski city of Da’ha’den. Javik’s father quickly ushered his family to the warcarrier where Javiks and his mother were smuggled onboard quietly by the cargo personnel. Besides them, select individuals, mostly other military and their immediate families were brought aboard the massive mechanical beast. But before an hour had passed, a similar fate had befallen Szka’Aza. With their windows and decks closed off, the Warcarrier survived the all consuming blast and quietly it limped off into the new wastes of Moghes.
At the behest of the Warcarrier’s Lord, Zur Azazaki, the Ahk’Ryzsyk slipped off to the mountains and maintained radio silence for nearly a week. The carrier first tended to families, settling them into what was now their new homes. Spare sheet metal and support beams were used to fashion living spaces within the hangar deck. On the walls of the Carrier the names of those left in the city and consumed by the fire were etched onto the walls or into the skin of the living family members, as the city had a strong Th’Ahk following. Before a week was up, the walls were covered in names. When the Lord finally broke radio silence, he was met with a new world. He learned of what Moghes had been turned into and called for a gathering of all remaining crew and families in the hangar.
Within the hangar, the Lord discussed many things, namely the current state of Moghes, their current resources, and the plan moving forward. To the last topic, he opened the floor for discussion to what many considered the last Unathi on the planet. Among the survivors were common people, families, and little more than half the crew of the ship. Without much objection Lord Azazaki suggested an abandonment of their duties. To throw away their hate for the old world and focus on the survival of their people, now. And he proclaimed that every person aboard cast away all previous ties to the old Moghes and rally under the new clan of Ryzsyk, in the name of the vessel that saved them all.

Javiks’s life of lush green forests and grass now turned to cinders literally before his eyes. Now he was surrounded by metal. His days now felt as if they grew longer and they were for a while spent very hungry. Some adults not already crew of the warcarrier made attempts to set up a hydroponics system on one of the many decks, which slowly began to bear fruit but nowhere enough to make them self sustaining. Others rest spent their time scouting and scavenging for supplies in the ruins of the old world doing what they could to support the clan. And children were no exception. Quickly they were thrust into being taught different systems of the ship. Javiks followed his father down into the underbelly of the beast and soon enough his claws became stained with oil and grease.

For many years Javiks supported the Ahk’Ryzsyk in the engineering department, with the rare opportunity to take part in a scavenging party, where Javiks would walk out on the land he once knew, to be shocked by its new appearance. His clan made do by performing an odd escort job or hauling scrap from one place to another for profit or trade. When the beast needed to resupply, Javiks would explore the settlement at which they stopped. Sometimes these days were spent in bars or a rare schoolhouse being run by Hephaestus Industries. In the school houses, he became fascinated with the world above him and the knowledge unavailable to him for so long. In early 2458 Javiks signed a contract with Hephaestus as an engineering contractor. While he was thankful for the life that was granted him by the Ahk’Ryzsyk, his family urged him to find a better place, even if it meant amongst the stars.

What do you like about this character? (Describe what you like about this character):

What I like about Javiks as opposed to other characters that I've played in the past is that they are dealing with first hand, and at a very young age, the changing of their entire life as they know it. It is easy for us to imagine people in our world moving on from say the detonation at Nagasaki or Hiroshima, but the complete decimation of your planet is an extremely fascinating topic to explore. Not only is he a survivor of the War but some may also consider him and his clan deserters of the Traditionalist cause, and to some that may be true, but to the people aboard the Warcarrier, they believed the Lord did the right thing, to save the families and preserve a future for their species.

How would you rate your role-playing ability?:
I've been at this roleplaying thing for a while, on SS13 and in other mediums. I think I'm a decent player and believe I can encapsulate a young war-torn Unathi from a militaristic background.

While i'm not sure my opinion means a whole lot at the moment, ManiacalFowl is, in my book, a more than fitting candidate to hiss about. While I haven't seen him in several months, Issac Finch has been very enjoyable to hang around! And I hope he isnt outmoded the moment he gets his lizard in.

+1 from me, at the very least.

Hello,

You show a solid understanding of the lore and you have a very compelling character background. I really like it! I can't wait to see Ryzsyk - and any other Unathi from you - board the station. Application accepted!

Due to a technical issue on my side regarding perms and our whitelist database I can't actually grant the whitelist at this moment, and Arrow who controls the database is not currently available. I'm going to mark this as [processing] until the permissions are fixed or I can find someone with the proper access to grant the whitelist. Give me between 1 - 24 hours; I apologize for the delay.
