SgtSammac Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Follow up to the previous suggestion: http://aurorastation.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=1300 So, exactly a month ago, I posted my response to the request for changes to Robotics Lab thread, no one responded to me, so I am today reposting in its own thread for everyone's perusal. Mk.1:http://puu.sh/gGTn1/3240ee2952.png Mk.2:http://puu.sh/gGUHs/978f5b3f86.png Mk.3: For this iteration of the lab, I opted for a more workshop type feel, as opposed to a half workshop, half research lab approach. There is still a lab area which hopefully gives a "sterile" feel (I am aware I have no door there) where the research console, circuit printer and surgery area (I am aware I will need to add tools, don't forget this is a month old.) Many thanks, SgtSammac
Jamini Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 I'm not sure that having the fabricators open to the mech charging bay is a good idea. Wouldn't that force roboticists to keep the shutters closed during most operation? I'd be worried about that if you gave out say... an oddyseus or engineering ripley. You would either need to open the door every time they come to charge, not let them in to charge, or have the fabricators open for anyone to access. I don't feel it would be ideal.
Gollee Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 From what I remember, aren't fabricators ID locked anyway?
Chaznoodles Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 I do like this layout, though I'd like the fabricators to be separated from the Charging Bay.
SgtSammac Posted March 19, 2015 Author Posted March 19, 2015 Quick fix: Windoors, ID locked between the workshop and the mechbay? Edit:
duck Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 The fabricators are general science-access locked. It's not unknowns getting access to the fabs that's the problem. It's randoms that get into your entire lab. Anyway, I'm for anything that doesn't put the circuit printer on the other side of a door and glass window for no reason. Although I'd like it more if the computer and printer were like. Within a tile of each other. This is nice though.
SgtSammac Posted March 19, 2015 Author Posted March 19, 2015 Well Duck, I can swap the Chest of Drawers and the Computer around, would probably make more sense actually, seeing as most paperwork, if any, is done at the desk.
ZipZero Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Two roboticists, one chair. The lab seems too cramped, while the mech bay seems too open. Also, with no conveyor, there is no easy way to move around the heavy mech parts.

The conveyor barely moved them at all anyways.
Casperf1 Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 I love it. The only issue I see is the surgery table being open to the public eye. But it is most of the time anyway. And nobody ever really de-brains people, so.
Blue Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 I like the idea, but I feel like there's too much open space. Maybe expand the lab a little?

I just think it makes more sense to move the parts to where they need to be assembled on a conveyor belt instead of dragging the heavy, metal parts around and scraping the floor. And again: There is only one chair, while there are two job slots for roboticist, the mech bay seems too open, and the lab seems too cramped.

I can read thank you, I've just been at my tablet, not my laptop.
Surrealistik Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 Why would you get rid of the conveyor belt system? That's one of the best parts of the Robotics Lab.
swat43 Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 Hell....effing...yes... I love you, and i want to marry you, if you are a girl only... If not, i will still love you, but no homo. This is the best i have ever seen! Sank yu~~!!!! *Hysterical girl scream* If this gets implemented, then i will rate this station 100/10. Please, i want it!
SgtSammac Posted March 21, 2015 Author Posted March 21, 2015 Version 2. Mk.1 Example- Codename: Return of the conveyor that you all oh so dearly love...
swat43 Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Looks even better, no doubt about that! For one i don't mind not having a conveyor belt, but this looks great. But please, remove those two fuel tanks! Robotics can hardly even empty one, and putting more easily explosive and flammable equipment is risky. The metal, glass and plasteel location is to far. Why not make the right exactly where the two fuel tanks. Also the request console, its just me, but i would like it to be on the small lab if possible. Seems more appropriate for its location.
SgtSammac Posted March 27, 2015 Author Posted March 27, 2015 Nothing major, just did what Swat asked. Might consider shifting the fabricators to be centered but ain't sure.
