Chanterelle
BYOND Key: Chanterelle Character Names: Trucy Faraday, Yureka Trevils, Janna Ramsey, May Hawthorne, Usara Yinzr, Neesha Miharil Species you are applying to play: Tajara What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Royal Orange Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Why do you wish to play this specific race: I would like the opportunity to navigate through the difficult social climate of the Tajaran species. The different factions and how they interact, as well as the various breed-types. Tajarans as a whole are even more of an underdog species when compared to the likes of Unathi, Varuca or even Diona because of humanity's view of them. The aspect of a character trying to preserve their dignity against a greater opposing views fascinates me. I also would like to contribute ideas to the Tajara group as well in regards to fashions, other world building elements through characters and their interactions. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Humans seem to be such a stable race when compared to the Tajara and are much more progressive in their beliefs. You can be just about anything you want to be as a human, with the exception of royalty. Tajara, specifically the Njarir'Akhran group is the smallest group of the Adhomai factions, but arguably the most culturally rich with their noble bloodlines and great historical significance to the species. Though things have been ugly, there will still be a sense of nostalgia for the simplicity of times long gone. For the other ethnicities, there are other woes and hardships that have been imposed upon them by the new regimes that came to power after the Uprisings and Revolutions that would all be very unique to explore and navigate through from a character's perspective. Also the inevitable clash of ideals. Character Name: (Possible to change, also for SPECIAL EVENT purposes and Off Station RP) Yekaterrína Alekséevna Rrostov-Kurragin Please provide a short backstory for this character The granddaughter of a former Njarir'Akhran King, she is styled her Serene Highness, Princess Kurragin of House Kurragin after the death of her father. As a young Tajara, she managed to survive the Uprisings and the First Revolution with most of her family having fled their Castle for safer territories to hide from the ensuing bloodshed. The few that remained to defend their home would subsequently be imprisoned and later executed. While on the run, more of her immediate family would be captured, with only the Princess and her grandson having avoided the same fate. Her small entourage would be part of the first wave of nobility leaving the planet. As a result of the cruelty experienced at the hands of the PRA, she holds a very negative view of them. Her fears of what would happen to her or her grandson should they return to Adhomai, even with the NKA established, have kept the Princess firmly in human space for the time being. Upon arriving on Biesel, the Princess would be faced with the hardships of re-establishing herself and raising her grandson alone. However with more noble blooded Tajara arriving on Biesel and still more that were loyal to the old Kingdoms, she would manage to get the aid of Royalist supporters to help build a small fortune through the primarily human Stock Exchanges. She would also provide paid interviews with information about various Njarir'Akhran customs to a small handful of researchers as well. Though a very minor presence in Mendell City Society, the Princess has nonetheless been able to live comfortably and has been grooming her grandson to become the next Prince of their bloodline. The Princess's apartments are tastefully decorated in a subtle regal motif, with the most lavishly decorated rooms being used for entertaining guests. Tajaran paintings as well as other relics are displayed in these rooms. A Butler, Maid and Chef are all that compose her household staff. The Princess frequently relies on human an Skrellian medical treatment. What do you like about this character? I like that she would instantly come to verbal exchanges with any of the other Tajaran faction members if encountered during the EVENT CIRCUMSTANCES or OFF STATION RP. Having these polarizing views thrown at her, an old woman at this point in her life would be fun to RP out. Also getting to toy with fancy Tajaran fashions natively will be fun too. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I would say my Roleplaying ability is Average-Fair. I'm still working at the ability to write lengthier posts. Notes: I would like to say that this is just one character that I had been inspired to create after watching a classic film. I do plan on creating other characters that could possibly bud off from this one, like her Great-Great Grandson, other Njrarir etc. This is just the most thought out character I have which is why I used her for the Application. This particular character was inspired by Princess Dragomiroff of the Orient Express, particularly Wendy Hiller's version of the character in the 1974 film. The character's musical theme played a big part in the inspiration: As did her appearance: Edited December 21, 2020 by Chanterelle Word editing, small typos. Link to comment
Alberyk
The application is a bite concise but it gets the themes and the overall points of the Tajara species. However, I want you to expand on some stuff before I can make a decision: 20 hours ago, Chanterelle said: The granddaughter of a former Njarir'Akhran King, she is styled her Serene Highness Princess Kurragin of House Kurragin after the death of her father. An elderly Tajara, she managed to survive the Uprisings and the First Revolution with her family having fled their Castle for safer territories. I think you got confused by the dates and the time span here. Between the First Revolution that started in 2421 (which was after the human discovery) and the Second Revolution (which started after Al'mari's death in 2441) there is around twelve years between both events. So, unless she was hiding this entire time or went "undercover" as a commoner, it would make a bit more of sense to flee Adhomai during/after the Fist Revoution instead of the Second one. Because the Second One saw the rise of the New Kingdom of Adhomai, which is a safe place to the previous nobility. Also, unless you are referencing to her current age, not the one she had at the time, she would be way past the life expectations of any Tajara if she was an erderly Tajara during the First Revolution. Would make more sense for her to be way younger when the revolution happened. Edit the main application with the changes when you do then, please. Now, just two questions. How does Yekaterrína sees the People's Republic of Adhomai and the Democratic People's Republic? In regards to her religion, does she believe in S'rendarr and Messa or any of the Ma'ta'ke Gods? Chanterelle
She feels more strongly against the PRA than she would the DPRA. Both in her opinion, are entities that have seized control through bloodshed and underhanded methods. She would likely keep these opinions to herself when speaking to people she was not familiar with. Those who know the Princess well likely have heard her express her views and feelings about all three Governments on Adhomai at one point or another. Her close friends know better than to bring up these topics around her simply because of the distress it causes her. As for her religion, I Feel she would practice the S'rand'marr faith. It would fit with her carrying a prayer book and keeping very important photographs of family and friends she had lost during the conflict as she feels she is likely approaching her end of life.
