SinfulBehaviors Posted December 27, 2020 Posted December 27, 2020 Azzam Amari [12:48]: dude i need your help. Julian Chet [12:48]: What's up? Azzam Amari [12:49]: i was looking for a christmas gift for halina, so i looked up things that might work regarding her scarab upbringing. Julian Chet [12:49]: Mhm? Azzam Amari [12:49]: and one extranet site said that they have a huge thing about weapons so i got this really beautiful, ornate scarab-esque dagger made. Julian Chet [12:50]: That's really sweet. I don't see the problem. Azzam Amari [12:50]: chet buddy pal that's how you propose in scarab culture. Julian Chet [12:53]: Oh Oh Oh god. Maybe just...keep it in a drawer or something. Azzam Amari [12:54]: I ALREADY PUT IT IN HER MAILBOX. Julian Chet [12:54]: Azzam, oh my god. “So, what you’re telling me is that you only looked more into it after you’d already got home.” Chet said over the rumble of the shuttle. The pair had boarded in a rush and were still bucking in even as the ship was taking off. “Look man, you know I don’t think things through.” Azzam sighed, nervously fiddling with his hair. “I just--- when I saw the fucking knife idea, I thought it’d be wonderful...I just kinda went for it.” He rubbed the bridge of his nose and groaned. Clearly, he wasn’t having a fun time. “Well, what if she says yes?” Chet giggled, but he ended up shrinking into his chair when the other engineer glared at him. “...I think she’d be understanding if you just...told her that you made a mistake.” “Yeah but...being a Scarab is important to her. Her face lights up every time she talks about her culture or if there’s another one on shift...it’s adorable…” He trailed off with a smile, staring off into space dreamily. Suddenly he blinked and shook his head, continuing. “The issue is, even if it’s a funny misunderstanding, I still made a fundamental mistake and didn’t actually pay attention to her culture. I would hope she’d be understanding...but I don’t wanna risk it.” “So you’d rather steal from her mailbox than talk it out?” The short one jeered. “Oh I’m sorry Mister ‘Get In The Locker,’ are my choices not reasonable to you?” The tall one spat. “Fair enough.” ~~~~~~~~ Finally on the Odin, the pair hastily jogged through the station. “Azzaaaaaaam, wait up! You’re faster than me!” Chet said, trailing behind the frontiersman. “Dude, look, we’ve got time! Don’t exhaust yourself!” Azzam scoffed as he lumbered through the hall. “You’re exhausting yourself. Find a way to go faster.” He snickered, turning to face Chet with a smirk. “Maybe I should get you a pair of those sneakers with the wheels in ‘em for Christmas.” Chet gave him a sour look, then nodded a few times. “I...actually would like that.” He mumbled. “Regardless, I wanna get this done as quickly as possible. I want a smooth, nice holiday with the woman I love.” The Frontiersman continued. “You know, without doing something dumb...I feel like recently I’ve done enough dumb shit recently that now I’m riding a razors edge here.” Finally, they arrived at the tram. Unfortunately, it was just leaving. Azzam groaned and threw his hands up. “Augh, that fucking figures.” “Hey! Remember what you said to me? Keep your head up and don’t worry...or something like that.” The blonde giggled, quickly flagging down a gruff looking worker. “Hey, can you tell us when the next tram is coming?” “It isn’t.” Said the bearded Odin worker. “...Come again.?” “We got maints do to on the tracks. Ain’t anotha one comin’ for bout twenty minutes.” Amari tossed his hands into the air and turned around, walking away as he rubbed his face. “Look, Azzam, we can still get there before she checks her mail.” The smaller engineer assured. “She’s on shift now, right? We can get there way before she even gets home.” “Shift’s ending in…five minutes.” Azzam said, checking his watch. “We definitely won’t...unless…” He started to grin, a grin that always signalled a horrible plan. “Watch this.” “No- what are you doing-- Azzam.” Chet watched helplessly as his friend slipped through the open windoors and onto the tram’s platform. “Are you actually gonna run all the way there, thupid?” Azzam snickered and nodded. “I’m faster than you. It’ll be a cinch.” With a wink, he dashed off down the line. He kept going, past a few stops until he got to a drop. Normally, the tram would be the one going down, but that wasn’t happening today. The frontiersman hopped on a ladder and slid down the hole, immediately taking off again as soon as he landed, gunning it until he got to Halina’s stop. A quick rewiring of a door and he was back on the platform, quickly navigating into the apartment sector. He slowed up, wheezing as he took a few deep breaths. Her apartment wasn’t that far off now. He entered the hallway, passing a short blond--- He stopped. He turned. “Chet? How did you--” Chet was leaning on the wall, eating some candies from a bag. “Elevators.” The frontiersman blinked a few times, then scratched his chin. “Hhhhhhuh.” he wheezed, smirking blankly. “I guess that would’ve been easier…” “I was trying to tell you that, dude.” “Okay but my way was cooler.” The pair proceeded down the hall, finally stopping at the mail boxes. “Right, which one’s Halina’s?” The blond asked, passing his friend a screwdriver. “We’re gonna wanna do this fast.” Azzam silently slid over to the boxes, unsecuring and dismantling the top of Halina’s dropbox. He deftly retrieved a yellow gift box with a red bow, just about the length of his forearm. A little sigh and he smiled, obviously relieved. “Perfect.” “So now you’re gonna put in the new present.” Chet stated with a smile. “Good thinking.” “...Other present…?” Azzam blinked. “...oh god.” “Azzaaaaaaaaam.” Suddenly, a ping, and an announcement that a tram arrived. The frontiersman jumped, fumbling with the gift, then chucking it at the other engineer. “Take it and go, just give it back next shift we’re on! I’ll fix this here.” Chet scuttled down the hall, rounding the corner and getting out of sight. Azzam furiously fixed the box, placing a hand on the finished product...until he felt a hand on his shoulder. He spun around and saw Halina, a slightly confused expression on her face. “Az?” She gestured. “What are you doing here?” “Oh-- uh-- I wasn’t sure if I was gonna get to see you today.” He stammered, patting his bag. “I was gonna put your Christmas gift in your mail. Lemme just…” He rummaged around for a moment, attempting to look like he was actually doing something. Finally, a sigh escaped his lips. “I...I forgot it at home.” Halina leaned in and gave him a kiss on the cheek, a clearly amused expression on her face. “I appreciate the thought, Az. Just give it to me next time we’re on shift together.” She gestured. “Since you’re here already...do you wanna come over? You can tell me more about what we’re supposed to do today.” The frontiersman smiled and nodded. “I’d love that, hun.” He hummed as he took her hand, being led away. But, before he was pulled too far, he glanced back and saw Chet, a massive grin on his face, and two thumbs up. Azzam nodded back and smirked, returning the thumbs up as he turned his attention back to his girlfriend. “Merry Christmas, dude.” ~~~~~~~~ Not a long story, but I hope you guys enjoy it. I'll probably do more stories, so consider this a first run. (Also these paragraphs looked longer on the google doc) Quote
