CarsonEagle
BYOND Key: CarsonEagle Character Names: Milton Hawker, Joey Miami, Zack Hurricane Species you are applying to play: IPC What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Orange and grey Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes! Why do you wish to play this specific race: I find anything robotic interesting. The idea of something inorganic having emotions, feelings and thoughts is so fascinating to me. I would love to explore these themes of existence, free will and what it means to live with an IPC in a fun and entertaining way. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: IPCs are toasters. They're thinking machines that have to calculate their every move. Having such a big limit on my speech, walking, talking and manners would give the setting a lot more flavor. IPCs can look human, they may act it, but they will never be human. Character Name: TB-64 (Test Bot) Please provide a short backstory for this character: TB was created by Nanotrasen's science divison aboard a space station that rested above some far off magma planetoid. But that's all he knows. He was eventually thrown into the disposals after completing several tests and not even being sure if he passed them all. He rotted in a massive trash pile for years until scavengers found him amongst the rubble of the now derelict station. Soon enough, he was repaired and had several parts replaced. He asked the scavengers what had happened to him, but none of them could answer his question. Now going back to Nanotrasen and sent to the Tau Ceti sector, he'll find out the truth behind his creation and creator. What do you like about this character? The obsession of individuality. He's unique amongst the IPCs (at least he thinks so) and being an individual is the highest privilege a living thing can achieve. It's nice to think about. How would you rate your role-playing ability? Two steps above average. I refuse to write several hundred paragraphs for an action, but I'll /me movements and stuff like that but never something so in-depth. Link to comment
niennab
Hello, thank you for applying. Are you able to greatly expand on the application? Particularly the backstory (which calls for two paragraphs) as well as the question of how they differ from humans. You have an interesting concept however why was TB discarded over salvaging or selling the unit? Nanotrasen isn't in the business of manufacturing IPCs so what was their original purpose? Why were they on the station? Is he presently owned by the scavengers? Why would he return work to a company that had once discarded them? So on and so forth. I want to leave his creation vague for now, as I want that to be discovered as I play him. And yes he is "owned" by the scavengers as he sees them as his parents of the sorts, and he keeps in touch with them when he is able to reach them. He is returning to Nanotrasen to search for answers for his creation, he believes working for and with them will lead to this revelation. Thank you for your input! You've been very helpful. niennab
Although I understand the difficulty, a whitelist application requires you to detail the backstory and much of the character in order to prove that you understand the lore and are able to apply it to character creation. As such, if you're unable to expand on the backstory as well as the human question, I will have to deny your application for now. However feel free to apply in three days at the minimum.
