DekserBecauseILostMyAccoun
BYOND Key: DekserCharacter Names: Mason Stern Species you are applying to play: Unathi What color do you plan on making your first alien character: black (I may change my mind) Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Why do you wish to play this specific race: I have always been interested with Unathi since I first saw one about a year ago, first of all they look really cool but it's not just how they look I was actually reading the wiki a few days before writing this without even planning on making an app but as someone who is a huge xenobiology nerd I instantly fell in love with the, y'know biology and religions and culture it's all very well written and properly planned out. It actually feels alien with only a few things too close to human civilization prior to contact. While on that topic the first contact war was very interesting to read just because first contact with aliens is always exciting and also the nukes. But my fascination for biology and aliens aside the Unathi are unique and interesting and give many roleplaying opportunities especially with antags it's also because after a full year of playing on this server, Humans get really boring so I decided after reading the wiki that it's time I spice my playthroughs up a bit with trying out a new species. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: First, there is the obvious mechanical differences which will greatly change how I play, there is also how Unathi interact with each other, I would love to play as one and interact with another rather than play as a Human and interact with one. Character Name: Zissan a'AsshanPhysical appearance:Height: 7'1Age: 23Weight: 297 Pounds Asshan is a large more crocodile looking Unathi with many sharp teeth, claws and short yet durable horns, he stands very tall and is heavier than most of his species. He often bellows when he is bored, similar to how a human would sigh. His back is covered in ridges and he appears to lean forward rather than stand upstraight likely due to his height. Please provide a short backstory for this character: Asshan hatched 2440 on Ouerea a mere 2 years after it was colonized, Asshan was born a peasant following the Th'akh religion. From his adolescence Asshan was always interested in creating things and never spent much time doing anything else. Later in his childhood he would move from playing with rocks to small circuits and then to old machinery. His father, Shaleez a'Asshan would often tell him how the machines worked and sometimes have stories about them. Asshan and his father were inseparable and the only things they disagreed on were related religion as his father cared much for it while Asshan was too focused on tinkering to care for the deep intricacies of Th'akh. One example would be on prosthetic limbs, while Asshan does not think it should concern him if one replaces an extremely damaged limb with a metallic one his father disagrees and believes it would mutilate the very soul and is a great disgrace to ones self, clan and family. Approaching adulthood Asshan began searching for a guild and happened upon one which offered a fair payment for fair labor. This was perfect for him and thus he employed there, following soon after Asshans employment, his father retired. One thing Asshans father would tell him was, "Work is among the most important things in your life. Without it, we would not have meaning" Asshan would reflect on this and held that advice close. Asshans father was a particularly large Unathi being 7'5 and weighing 317 pounds, this caused him many health issues in his life and it was known to Shaleez that he would not live for a long time and eventually as predicted, he passed. Asshan was left confused and unsure of how to cope with this loss, his father was to be put to rest in the clothing he died in and was buried outside the city they lived in (New Skalamar) on a large hill near Yiz. At his fathers burial, Asshan spoke of the stories his father had told him and reflected back on all the times they shared mentioning his fathers saying of work and how much knowledge Asshan will carry on from his father. It was then that Asshan decided he would not stop working and he would be as productive as possible. It would be his way of coping and would allow him to provide for his family while distancing and distracting himself from all his past memories, he planned on leaving the planet. He joined a guild and spent seven years taking any work he could, becoming one of the best in his region but there was something missing in his life. Since his fathers death, out of guilt Asshan had become more religious and tried to forget his own opinions, taking up his fathers instead. He did his best to provide for his family and clan but working for a guild as a laborer simply wasn't enough and when an opportunity from Hephaestus Industries came looking for Engineers, without hesitance he enrolled and was accepted, this was very unheard of for a peasant to be chosen and thus it was a call for celebration! Many were held for Asshan by his clan and soon after being chosen he was booked on a shuttle to Aurora Station. What do you like about this character?: Asshan is a workaholic, he will follow orders. For him it's not about the money, it's about getting the job done and I think that's a very interesting characteristic to have. How would you rate your role-playing ability?: I'd give myself a solid 8/10 NOTES: I have reviewed my application after taking a nap and noticed a lot of errors and mistakes as well as a lack of an extensive backstory, so I re-wrote most of it. Haydizzle
Hello! The application looks solid on the merit of knowing the lore. I enjoyed the little details, like health complications from size being qn issue that comes up. I do have a couple of basic questions to pair: 1) Is Asshan a traditionalist or Izweski when it comes to his loyalty? 2) Similar to the last: what is Asshan and his family's opinions on the Contact War? 3) How does Asshan feel about the feudal system still in place? How does he feel about the peasants below and the warriors and nobles above him? Thanks again for taking the time to apply! Link to comment

How does he feel about the peasants below and the warriors and nobles above him? Thanks again for taking the time to apply! Thank you for replying! I was very nervous to put out this application and I'm happy you like it.1) More traditionalist but a mix of both in a way, living on Ouerea he consumed a lot of the Izweski clans propaganda from the war, despite this he dislikes the fact that the Izweski refer to the traditionalists as "savages" and as well as that many including him were told to think of them as barely Sinta at all. He still thinks there is a bit of truth to what the Izweski had to say in aforementioned propaganda like how the traditionalists wanted to destroy modern society and did not have good reason for their attacks. His father also told him much about their homeworld and what it was like before he left. In the end Asshan doesn't really pay too much attention it and true to his character, he just focuses on his job. However I do think that if he did not consume such propaganda he would completely side with the traditionalists.2) I'm happy you asked, his father disagrees with the Izweski clan and blames them for the war. He was born on Moghean and was around for the first few years of the contact war and left about 6 months before the first atomic bomb was dropped. Interestingly Shaleez does not push his opinions of Izweski onto Asshan as much as he did with their religious arguments. 3) He mostly agrees with this society and believes it works, in his thought process, if you work hard enough it does not matter where you're from then you will succeed. Especially if you follow the code of honor / code of womanhood. His reasoning is obvious, despite his short handed start in life he did his best and never stopped working to keep his family fed scoring him, a peasant a job at Hephaestus Industries. His this thoughts on nobles and warriors are different, he believes warriors are heroic fighters and that they are to be respected while with nobles he believes nobles that have not achieved anything were born into that position and do not deserve respect without earning it. Please ask if you have any more questionsEDIT: I did a time oopsie! But fixed it. Edited March 5, 2021 by DekserBecauseILostMyAccoun More grammar Link to comment

I enjoy asking them both to see what elements of the lore applicants are aware of, as well as a bit of personal curiosity. Nonetheless, this application works for me! Your whitelist should be available next round; feel free to ask lore questions on the Discord or DM them to me and my deputies. Link to comment
