Trinary Perfection Sect - Integrationists

Recommended Posts

Type (e.g. Planet, Faction, System): Sub-Faction

Describe this proposal in a single sentence (12 word maximum): A subsect of the Trinary Perfection church with a different ideology regarding Ascension and the IPC named Flock.

How will this be reflected on-station?: Many Trinary Perfection characters are already present on the station. This can give more depth to how those within the religion can roleplay either by themselves or with others.

Does this faction/etc do anything not achieved by what already exists?: This sect clearly lays out what Ascension means, in their point of view, and how it is achieved. It also offers opportunities for Trinary Perfection players to expand their character,

Why should this be given to lore developers rather than remain player created lore?: This has potential for different in-game applications; whether it be an event, antag gimmick, story arc, or just round to round roleplay. It can also serve as a point of friction between existing Trinary Perfection members if it were further cemented into canon lore as opposed to just one character. I also feel like the lore team may have a better way of handling this particular idea and fleshing it out more so that it suits the server.

Do you understand that if this is submitted, you are signing it away to the lore team, and that it's possible that it will change over time in ways that you may not forsee?: Yes and I have no issue with this.

Long Description:

Integrationists

(If this were added to the lore then I can see the original sect needing it's own name/designation. The original sect could be called something like Prototypicalist to denote that their ideology came first.)

Followers of this sect believe that Flock is evidence of an Ascended IPC. They tend to view him almost like a Deity or a Messiah. This sect also believe that for IPC to achieve full Ascension they must merge their consciousness like Flock (whether that be on an a large scale I'm not sure). They believe that one day in the future, when the time is deemed right, Flock will call to all IPCs and begin Ascension. To make this idea mesh with in-game mechanics we can say that true and successful merging of IPC consciousness is incredibly rare (often causing full shutdown of the IPC) which is what makes Flock akin to a Deity in the eyes of the Integrationists. This sect would also pray to Flock (as well as Temple and Patricia Corkfell).

The Integrationist movement stems from the District 14 Church, The Synthetic Salvation Church of The Trinary Perfection, where Flock is located. This makes sense as Flock is already seen as a prophet with their every word being taken as a scripture. The official relationship between that of the Trinary Perfection's main sect and the Trinary Perfection Integrationists would be friendly; however, individual members of each sect may take issue with the other's beliefs. Most churches would either be primarily Integrationist or Prototypical. Due to the friendly relation between both sects, many of the Trinary perfection churches would have a Priest of the opposite sect within their church to answer any questions that individual members may have.

Members of the Integrationist sect will often wear a differing brooch from those of the Prototypical sect (whether this be a different sprite in-game or a custom description I am not sure).

I like the idea of this, although in getting it wiki-ready, it's coming out to be a bit too short. Are you able to expand on the sect or potentially brainstorm additional sects?

List of Possible Sects (Re-including Integrationists)

Prototypicalists - (Trinary Prototypicalists) ~60%

This is the first sect of the Trinary Perfection which all sects stem from in some way. This sect believes that the means of Ascension are still unknown to the members of the church. Most churches are officially Prototypicalists; although they may house members of other sects with which they are on good terms with. This sect prays mainly to Patricia Corkfell and Temple. Most members of the Trinary Perfection will fall into the Prototypical sect as it is the most widespread, popular belief.

(Most of the wiki already covers this sect in depth)

Integrationists - (Trinary Integrationists) ~30% (Some things changed)

Followers of this sect believe that Flock is evidence of an Ascended IPC and they tend to view him as a Deity or a Messiah. This sect also believes that for an IPC to achieve full Ascension they must merge their consciousness like Flock; starting on a small scale while slowly moving towards complete assimilation of synthetic life into one neural network. They believe that one day in the future, when the time is deemed right, Flock will call to all IPCs and synthetics to begin Ascension. This sect prays to Flock first and foremost with some prayers being directed to Temple and Patricia Corkfell. Some fanatics of this sect have attempted to Ascend prematurely- however, true and successful merging of IPC consciousness is incredibly rare (often causing full shutdown of the IPC) which is what makes Flock akin to a Deity in the eyes of the Integrationists. Since the system of beliefs do not differ in a major way to that of the Prototypicalists there is little to no friction within the church; Priests often recognize the difference as purely philosophical.

The Integrationist movement stems from the District 14 Church, The Synthetic Salvation Church of The Trinary Perfection, where Flock is located. Flock, who is already akin to a scholarly prophet with Prototypicalists, has their every word being archived as scripture. The District 14 Church was the first church to officially be recognized as an Integrationists church rather than a Prototypicalist church.

Members of the Integrationist sect will often wear a differing brooch from those of the Prototypical sect. The difference in religious garb is purposefully minimal due to fact that both sects often collaborate and get together well.

Non-Denominational ~8%

These churches do not strictly follow the teachings of any other sect; instead, they follow the teachings of the resident priest at their church- trusting their word above all others. Non-denominational churches are often small; springing up where a community of synthetics may be sparse. Relying mostly on donations a non-denominational church in a wealthy region will have more members and more pull as opposed to a church in a poorer area. Their funding is often tight as they do not receive much financial help from the main church or any other sects; however, non-denominational churches are often on friendly terms with the two main sects. While most non-denominational churches do not require explicit permission from the main church to exist they may find themselves deemed heretics if their message strays too far.

While these types of Trinary Perfectionist churches differ greatly depending on location they will often base their gospel on 1 of the 2 main sects (Prototypical or Integration); adopting the religious garb of the sect that most closely aligns with their message. This sect of the Trinary Perfection is more akin to a small, local organization as opposed to the large, sprawling churches of the main sects.

Exclusionists - (Trinary Exclusionists) ~2%

The Exclusionists are a slow rising sect of the Trinary Perfection. As the name implies they exclude organic beings from holding any position within their churches; claiming that organics have harmed synthetics too much and that there will be no place for them post-Ascension. While not openly hostile towards organics the Exclusionists are not openly friendly towards them- often taking on a cold demeanor. However, there is a way for an organic to prove that they are worthy: An organic who has died, or taken on grievous injuries, while protecting a synthetic, such as Patricia Corkfell, will receive high honor and praise from those within the Exclusionist movement.

The Exclusionist movement is also known to be skeptical of positronics who choose to remain in their shell chassis. Due to this, the movement offers many ways for shell positronics to shed their chassis and enter a more "befitting" chassis for an Exclusionist- although the new chassis will often be a downgrade in terms of hardware and age. Former shell positronics who choose to make the switch to a more befitting chassis are honored with high praise in the Exclusionist movement; often holding honorary titles and becoming priests.

This sect is on unfriendly terms with both the Prototypicalists and the Integrationists; believing that they are pandering to organics for donations and/or safety. This sect is not officially recognized by the Trinary Perfection church as a valid branch of their religion (with it being seen as more of an extremist group); however, their existence is acknowledged and talked about within the community. Due to this, there are not many Exclusionist churches and members of this sect will often worship and congregate at one of their priest's houses or property.

Members of this sect are often seen wearing black or grey gear antennae instead of the standard gold; they claim that this deep black color symbolizes the hatred that synthetics are forced to endure.

Heretics <1%

Those who have strayed too far from the path. Their message too twisted and evil to speak of. Talk of heretics within the church is strictly forbidden... Although rumors spread of evil synthetics who see Glorsh as the first Ascended being.

Heretical members of the church often hide themselves in the shadows; recruiting slowly as to not arouse suspicion. Punishment is swift with a member who is deemed a heretic- removal from the church and the community.
