Issued Warning From Peppermint

I would like to begin this by saying that this is not a complaint toward Peppermint as a staff member, but only to a judgement that was made upon me from them. I have played on Aurora for quite some time now at least four to five years and I absolutely love this server. I have played Security majority of my time here along with some other roles and I usually come back to Aurora a couple times a year for a couple month long stint to get my fix. The judgement in question was a warning that I had received after going AFK as a Security Officer. Obviously I know this is against the rules and I meant to get myself down to stasis and get my character out of the round. My position in real life requires me to take phone calls anytime of the day, and this is the same position I have had for three or so years. Usually those phone calls only last about ten to twenty minutes and I have to go AFK and if any officers are around for that time then I relay that information to them in LOOC if something is going on inside the station or what have you. It bugs me that I didn't even get to respond or make my claim before Peppermint96 closed my ticket and logged out of the server or went invisible. I was beginning to apologize and was met with a stern "let us know next time" and a swift disappearing. Again, in hindsight I should have let you guys know and I should have done this or I should have done that. The biggest issue I have here is that in the warning details it says something along the lines of "you have a history of this, next time will likely be a permaban." My last warning regarding that situation, and yes it was a warning not a ban or a punishment bigger than a warning, was in 2018 and has expired. I do not wish to tarnish myself and get myself banned but I also don't like being threatened with a permaban when 9.5/10 I am an engaged roleplaying member of Aurora. Sometimes I make mistakes and I don't believe this should be so harshly worded or threatening and I believe this could have even been just a "verbal" warning that would allow me to rethink my actions, not something that will stay on my record considering that the other warning I received was over two years ago. Thank you.
Additional remarks: 

Again, I absolutely love Aurora and this is the only station I really take seriously anymore. The thought of being perma'ed makes me sad. I don't wish to tarnish myself and I don't wish to ruin my reputation on the station. I have ran into some issues in the past but I have ironed most of those things out. Thank you.

Going to keep it short.

- We have a bot that tells us if someone opens a ticket when we have nobody online or everyone is afk.
- I got on after getting ready for my day and took it before other life priorities took over. Hence not having a long chat.
- You were AFK, stripped of your gear in front of cryo from where someone else had gotten it sorted. You can't cryo someone connected, hence they made a ticket to kick you.
- You were given a warning as you do have a history of this stretching back years. You're correct the other warnings expired and the ban was a while back, which is exactly why I warned you rather than escalating.
- The ban thing is not a threat. It's a heads-up what the next time of it is likely to be.
- You replied only after I had set the warning (I was in the chat box entering it at the time). This does not excuse you going AFK in a contested role for a while beforehand because you suddenly come back. This was to let me tell you you were being warned, not to have a discussion on it.
- You are aware you may need to step away for extended periods of time, so don't join on contested roles. Again, have a history.

I stand by a warning being appropriate. And there was no big mystery here, no logs to go through, no other perspectives to get, so sticking around to chat (especially when I was busy with other things) would not have changed the outcome at all.

So by the looks of your history you have repeated instances of leaving without using cryo as security roles, so the judgement in question here is not wrong. Although escalation of punishment should have warranted a permaban, but as Peppermint said, your previous SSD entry was a little while ago made it not so.

That being said, you'll be staring down the barrel if you're caught SSD/AFKing again without leaving us a notification. So again as Peppermint said, if you're on an unstable work schedule, don't play a contested role.

Now should you decide to play a contested role after all, be sure to make an ahelp macro or ahelp manually letting us know that you have to go, then log off after you've sent us the appropriate notification so other people can cryo you should no staff be online to do it.

 

The warning will stay, and Ill mark this as resolved and close in a day unless you have any other questions.
