pAI in your head augment

Heres a fancy idea, what if we had an augment that functioned identically to a pAI, but this time being placed inside of a thing in your head. Heres a few ideas to how I think it could work.

1. Its just an augment that, when you click it, opens up the pAI interface and allows you to search for personalities, manage directives, imprint your DNA, or wipe the pAI, and thats all it does. The pAI could (somehow) be given the ability to speak with whoever has the augment. If the augment is broken, the pAI player automatically dies, and thats all it does. probably the best option.

2. The same as before, but this time the pAI can do extra stuff that will help its owner and make up for the fact they can no longer influence the world by.. walking around in it I guess. This extra stuff could be things like increasing the efficiency of synthetic or assisted organs by 5%, allowing them to body scan their owner (but not print the paper, requiring communication), or letting the pAI access the same augments that their owner can, and deploy them whenever they wish.

2b. Another feature that could be cool, but very hard to justify or implement, is allowing the owner of the pAI to toggle the ability for the pAI to assist them, effectively swapping places until the owner wants to regain control or the pAI releases it.
This feature could be useful for trainer pAI's who want to help their owner with complicated to explain tasks, or people who want to have a directive bound cheery intelligence take their place whenever they themselves cant keep up such a facade.
This is probably best just left as food for thought because it could lead to problems.

I'm not sure if this is a good idea, it comes with a lot of issues and I don't see how a product like this could even be in demand. Who wants a screaming robot inside their brain with (possibly but unlikely) the ability to literally take over and control your entire brain. Considering how powerful the hate of synthetics is in MOST places.

People are lonely, and pAI's are designed almost entirely to be a companion to one specific person as a card. Why this would be in demand is that somebody just wants to have a friend for life, somebody that they can talk to that was made for them. Sure, pAI devices are portable and probably affordable, but those can get stolen or dropped, damaged, deactivated, wear down, run out of charge, etc etc. This would be a solution to those problems.

Probably nobody, which is a good thing since maybe 1 pAI in all of byond's history has been designed to scream. I don't understand this point.

"allowing the owner of the pAI to toggle the ability for the pAI to assist them" "swapping places until the owner wants to regain control or the pAI releases it."

This ability is repeatedly phrased in a way that suggests that the owner has full control over the aforementioned ability multiple times, and can end it at any time. A pAI is designed with 1 primary directive, "Serve your master", there would not be much of a risk to the owner, as risking the owners personal safety would be a violation of this directive, and supplementary directives do not override it, so the pAI cannot, under any circumstances, knowingly bring its owner into danger. Additionally, if the pAI were trying to hijack its owners brain without their consent, this is again, a violation of the directive. So realistically it isn't possible.

EDIT: "Considering how powerful the hate of synthetics is in MOST places"
I dont think that an extremely intelligent, almost sapient machine that was constructed from the same code as glorsh omega which committed atrocities beyond comprehension is the same as an intelligent robot dog/cat/parrot with the ability to speak to people very well. You'd have to be one of those comedically racist dominion robo haters for something like that.

Overall I don't think this contributed to the discussion, but thanks for your input

Maybe I didn't get my point across well, let me rephrase some things.

Look at the Aurora universe, several entire factions dislike or despise synthetics, those that don't still enslave them and have a good portion of their population hold some form of prejudice. Synthetics are not globally liked at all. For an augment like this to be produced and put on the market would already be a little weird. To the point you brought up, I have never met anyone who would want a friend for life. Would you want a synthetic person inside your brain that has the ability to control your brain?

I did read what you wrote the first time, I do not see a difference. People are paranoid and a lot don't trust synthetics. Ignoring the very obvious lore implications, this is basically an IC borer. Have you seen the reaction from people when borers control their friends? It's usually not good. Regardless, this was a pretty lacking point on my end as some people do trust synthetics enough to let them do this, so I'll give you that.

I obviously didn't mean actual screaming, the concept of having a being talk to you inside your mind 24/7 sounds annoying as all hell. Sure you can ask it to be quiet from time to time but the fact that it's probably listening in on you at every waking moment of your life is a little terrifying. Everyone needs some privacy, nobody wants even their best friends to follow them into the shower.

Overall, I see a few issues with the concept, but I'm not entirely against the idea. If a lot of people like it and it's approved, so long as it's a fun addition and people enjoy it, right?
