eddymakaveli
BYOND Key: Eddymakaveli Character Names: Ruben Belmonte, Konstantyn Lovad, Rahim Kumar. Species you are applying to play: Unathi What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Obsidian Black/Grey? Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes! Though there may be some gaps, I've done my best to at least be very familiar with the lore around the concept I have. Please provide well-articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: I want Unathi to be my first step away from playing humans because I think there's a lot of room for some very unique rp with all the directions that the race has gone in a post-contact wartime. From fanatic fire cultists to space knights, to augmented free spirits - unathi has so many angles to approach what it means to exist in an ever-changing Spur that only advances further and further along. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Unathi tradition, across even the most diverse of the offshoot sinta, revolves strongly around community and obligation to said community - and it intertwines uniquely with the different religions and cults. The intermingling of these married aspects aboard the Horizon and experiencing the Spur at large, is something that is unique and only achieved by a non-human race like the unathi. They are not simply honorable, it is the very backbone of so many of their sub-societies. For some like, like the Si'akh and Aut'akh cultists, there is also an immense obligation to their own groups that extends far beyond what can be encountered in most human societies. Be it to live a scarce life and do acts to earn the favor of the figurehead - or to help the literal dregs of sinta society with augments to cover the echoing wounds of the contact war. Character Name: Nkosana Itzcoatl Please provide a short backstory for this character: Nkosana is a young second-generation unathi in 'the Factory', whose life was set squarely in the Eridani underworld with a unique position, a sinta who finds his home among his fellow transplanted Aut'akh and the 'typical' dregs that are burrowed deep beneath Eridani I. While the harmony between the groups was patchwork at times, literally, it did give way to a split in the young unathi's development. Looking up with wanting to the skyscrapers that are spotted through the cracks that lead above - and being in a place where he is a cog within the Aut'akh ecosystem that came to be known in the Underworld. Smelling opportunity, when Nkosana came of age and took his name as a proper Aut'akh - he leveraged his natural unathi prowess to buy a ticket up from Eridani's muck - with a curious wanderlust of a truly free spirit. That came in the form of a contract with PMCG's Dagamuir Freewater Private Forces, taking him above to see those towering skyscrapers and afterward, away to Ouerea. An ancestral home away from home for his cult. Seeing the fruits of the Factory's labor in the augments shipped to Ouerea - there was quenching to the spirited unathi's drive forward, his hard work finding him a position on the SCC's flagship. What do you like about this character? This is a character that toes the line of several traditions. The expectation that comes with being a sinta, the weight of corporate obligation from Freewater's strict expectations - even aboard the Horizon, and being away from his communal Aut'akh society whose zeal he is still infused with. How would you rate your role-playing ability? 6.7/10 probably. I have a lot to improve on, like learning very specific parts of the Spur's lore - but I believe I can roleplay characters competently and with some depth. GrazalThruka
+1. Eddy is a solid RPer who will do the cool lizard men justice Link to comment
Afya
Ruben (Aka Eddy) is lovely to interact with, and will most certainly be acceptable. +1 Link to comment
RustingWithYou
I've played a lot with Ruben and Konstantyn on various characters. Eddy always plays interesting characters, and I think he'd play a good Lizard. +1 Link to comment
La Villa Strangiato
I like Eddy's roleplay and I think he would play a good Unathi, especially after I played with him on the Kataphract ship. However, I have a few questions to help flesh out your app; 1. What was Nkosana's relationship with his family like? How did they feel that he chose to leave his clan behind? 2. How does Nkosana treat other Unathi, particularly from Moghes and Ouerea, who might be more traditional? Does he avoid them or meet the conflict of ideals head on? 3. Unless I missed it like a brainlet, what's Nkosana's job? Link to comment

Though the Aut'akh care deeply for the community and familial bond, Nkosana sought out anything that would feed his inner free-spirit. Most credits he makes from his job with PMCG, he sends back to his commune. His family would likely be disappointed in his choice to leave the commune, but once he began providing credits from his employment abroad, they would likely be begrudgingly accepting. 2. Nkosana would treat Moghsians are scared hicks, clinging to their backwater ideals and terrified of flesh being the last frontier for unathi. Ouereans, however, would be met with an equal sense of wonder and anxiety - due to the original cultists of Aut'akh being Ouereans. There would be a sense of need to prove himself to his colonial 'ancestors', those who blazed the path before his young life began. 3. I mentioned his employment with PMCG, so he would be working in security in some capacity with them. Link to comment

Hi, and thanks for applying! While I like your character concept and a lot of the points you made about what makes Unathi different to play compared to humans, this backstory is a little short, and you could do with expanding it. Maybe talking about things like, what cog did he fill in the Aut'akh ecosystem in the Underworld? What did he think about it? Where were his parents from? Did they tell him anything about Moghes, the Hegemony, anything to give him a connection back to his home planet? ETC. Don't feel a need to make it super long though! Link to comment

No issue, I don't mind expanding at all. Nkosana's parents were from Ouerea, some of the first colonists leaving from there to somewhere new and on Eridani 1. I mentioned it a tad in my response to La Villa - but his parents would've held strongly to the generational trauma of the first combat veterans of the combat from the contact war that made up the first Aut'akh cultists. They would speak about Mohges as a far-off place that is nearly damned and wrought with wickedness - seeing as most Aut'akh believe that clinging to the flesh is a weakness and a sign that those that do are anchored to the wicked spirits that haunt post-contact war sinta. Regarding life in the Factory, Nkosana would've embraced the ingenuity that comes from the downtrodden that need to adapt to be able to survive in the Underworld. While he would approach most dregs with caution, he would delve into a friendship or camaraderie with any that showed him something new or introduced him to a concept he could bring back to his commune. His own role was of someone who made contact with the 'native' dregs for some quick diplomacy and a protector of sorts when those of his commune would go to scavenge scrap and such. Though a smaller unathi, he was comfortable with scrapping when necessary - but would much prefer to talk things out and help negotiate deals with their new permanent neighbors. While he enjoyed life in the Underworld as much as one could, he took work with PMCG to try and send funds back and get a better life for all of his commune back home. Link to comment
