Drooling Cowboy Posted August 3, 2023 Posted August 3, 2023 (edited) BYOND Key: Drooling Cowboy Character Names: Tuna Collins, Hope Burns Brightly, Soldiers Move Onwards Species you are applying to play: Skrell What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Yellow. Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: I think Skrell are generally just a cool species with a pretty interesting and deep background you can pull from. Their society interests me along with the various rebel groups that oppose the federation. Generally, it's just an interesting species at least to me, and I think they're pretty cool. I'm also interested in their psionics as I find that sort of thing pretty damn cool. They have a wide variety of backgrounds they can come from, which also appeals to me because it allows me to make a lot of different characters who don't all fit into the same format. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Skrell are psionic, along with the fact they're amphibious creatures and almost always have to stay moist. Being psionic and coming from a psionic society or just being surrounded by other psionics and suddenly coming to a society where they don't have that ability can be quite hard to adjust to. Skrell also have the unique ability of entering the srom when they sleep, which dictates a lot of their culture and life outside of work, with it even being an addiction for some. Character Name: Wu'll Xorlaq Please provide a short backstory for this character: They're a young, Fifty five year old yellow skrell with short unbound headtails and an extremely cocky attitude. They're from the traverse, living most of their life on a ship their quya being their own crew of smugglers and other undesireables the federation have deemed rebels. Being a smuggler, they never really had a lot of interaction with the srom outside of his crew, managing to keep a lot of their secrets and thoughts to themselves. Along with the fact they were a listener, it made psionically connecting with skrell hard. Recieving no education apart from what was taught to them by the rest of the small rebel fleet they were apart of, they had to prove themselves through slipping into federation controlled cities, and delivering illegal items to well paying customers. They were sadly at the bottom end of an extremely lucrative business. Despite this, they were happy. They thought of the federation as extremely oppressive, and grew to hate every second they spent in hiding from authorities in their gigantic pristine cities. Their lack of a threat of social credit deductions hanging over them, along with their tendancy to have to talk themselves out of sticky situations they'd regularly find themselves in lead them to develop sort of a silver tongue, along with a general attitude to say and do whatever they felt like doing. Despite this brash attitude, they follow the Weishii faith, having a deep appreciation for nature despite the little time they usually spend on planets. They regularly enjoy simply sitting down in large open floral areas and contemplating life. They were introduced to the religion after attempting to pickpocket a Wei'Vii during a trip to a federation controlled world. The older skrell caught them in the act, but instead of turning them into authorities, they instead gave them a lecture of their religion, showing them the beauty of plant life and meditation. Suprisingly, they listened. Enthralled by what the older skrell had to say, and curious as to why they didn't just decide to turn them in. Ever since, the religion stuck with them. They had a place in their tight knit crew, feeling at home despite being criminals in the traverse. At fifty five years old, they was a valued member of the crew, being a great smuggler, pickpocket, and general scum of the federation. Although, they weren't happy. Being chased around like a rat in a maze, never getting to just settle down and make friends outside of his crew, or really experience the srom at all was starting to get to them. So, They decided to leave for the freedom of human space. Their quya were saddened, although understood their decision to enter human space. They had already learnt the language, being a smuggler and needing the ability to talk to humans when conducting buisness. With a few lies and bribes, They managed to secure themselves a work visa for biesel, and after that it was as simple as finding a company that would hire them, and a job that they could do with no work experience. They of course settled with nanotrasen, and it looked like they needed a janitor. Freedom from the federation, and no longer being chased, maybe Wu'll Xorlaq could finally find happiness? What do you like about this character: I think they're a fun concept, not really a rebel and more so just a general scumbag who despite hating the federation just wants to be happy and live a life free of being chased around or conforming to their social credit system. How would you rate your role-playing ability: Decently Good. Notes: N/A Edited August 6, 2023 by WhatsUpBrotendo
RyverStyx Posted August 4, 2023 Posted August 4, 2023 Hello! Some questions: 1. If their criminal past came to light with a Federation Consular there is a very real chance they could be deported. How do you feel about this? 2. Are their records with NanoTrasen (employment, medical, security) real or forged? If they are forged, what is listed as prior employment? What is their citizenship listed as? 3. Being from the Traverse still technically means they are a Federation citizen. If their records are real and list them as from the Traverse this means they do have a social credit score. What would their social credit score be while on the ship?
WhatsUpBrotendo Posted August 4, 2023 Posted August 4, 2023 Hi, thanks for applying. Ryver already pointed out some things that I wanted to ask, but I still have some other questions I'd like you to answer: How does your character feel about Skrell born outside of the Federation? How does your character feel about non-Skrell, both Diona and C'thur in the Federation as well as the other species across the Spur. How have recent events in the Federation and Spur at large affected your character? Are you aware that your character can potentially be permanently removed from play if their background is revealed canonically? You swap between smuggler and rebel in the backstory. Are they just a Marauder, or are they part of a resistance cell?

I'm totally fine with this possibility, however they'll go out of their way to hide their past and definitely won't blab to people about it. 2. Are their records with NanoTrasen (employment, medical, security) real or forged? If they are forged, what is listed as prior employment? What is their citizenship listed as? Their records are real, they have absolutely no prior employment listed which is why they decided to become a janitor. Their citizenship is listed as being from the federation. 3. Being from the Traverse still technically means they are a Federation citizen. If their records are real and list them as from the Traverse this means they do have a social credit score. What would their social credit score be while on the ship? Completely forgot to include this, their social credit score is 2.57 22 minutes ago, WhatsUpBrotendo said: Hi, thanks for applying. They're a little envious of them, they're jealous of the freedom they get outside the federation. How does your character feel about non-Skrell, both Diona and C'thur in the Federation as well as the other species across the Spur. They're repulsed by the c'thur, and vaucra in general, believing them to be a twisted reflection of everything they hate about the federation. They still did business with them of course, as long as they paid. They're quite fond of diona, and don't really care for humans or other species. They're not sure why they'd ever want to give up their freedom to live in the federation. How have recent events in the Federation and Spur at large affected your character? Part of the reason they're looking to get away from federation space for a while is because of the crack downs against smuggling and other criminal activities in the spur. It's spooked them, although they've got enough confidence to believe they're one step ahead. Are you aware that your character can potentially be permanently removed from play if their background is revealed canonically? Yes. You swap between smuggler and rebel in the backstory. Are they just a Marauder, or are they part of a resistance cell? Yeah I shouldn't have used the term "rebels" near the start, although they are "rebelling" against the federation, they're just a marauder and a general smuggler of illegal goods.
