pocheto
BYOND Key: Pocheto Character Names: Stella Riedl, Queire Xusuui, Ruby Oschner, and Fern Thomas, among others Species you are applying to play: Tajara What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Kochiba, #6b4423 Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes! Why do you wish to play this specific race: The Tajara cold war lore is really interesting! The amount of personal conflict and tension could be really fun to roleplay out, and I think that the political struggle is very compelling. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Tajara are fundamentally a pre-spacefaring species thrust into the galactic community very suddenly. Their culture shock has ended, but the struggles they face are rooted in their time before spaceflight, simply moved onto a wider stage. Character Name: Khar’dassa Hra’darr Please provide a short backstory for this character: Khar’dassa was born in 2441, to a Republican Hharar family in the city of Tampiska with an older sister. She was born during the boom of the Republic, in a time of hope and progress. Khar’dassa grew up very patriotic; the nation was at its peak, and she was part of her local Youth Brigade, learning how to be the best citizen she could be. She saw the rapid industrialization around her while it happened, and was greatly inspired, but that was soon cut short when the Second Revolution happened. She was only 9 when the war started, and mourned Al’mari’s death along with the rest of her fellow comrades just the next year. She lived mostly sheltered from it, but heard incoming stories, and quickly prepared for some sort of military assault upon the city. The tensions rising in the city further fuelled her nationalism, and gave her the desire to work within the system in some capacity. As the siege went clearly downhill, her family fled to B’urr to escape the eventual capturing of the city in 2458. In B’urr, at 17, her life almost began again. There, she was relatively safe from the combat, due to the presence of soldiers who participated in its recapture. She resumed a relatively normal existence, beginning to help repair the boats in the harbors. Khar’dassa’s family would lay down roots there, remaining there until the present. When the armistice was signed, Khar’dassa accepted the outcome, but still held in her heart the belief that the Republic would show everyone the correct path. Over the next 4 years, she continued her life, eventually moving on her own to Al’mari to study at the Hadii Institute of Orbital Research. Khar’dassa studied ship design and repair, and satisfied her own long-lasting curiosity about advanced technology. She had a relatively uneventful time there, with no notable negative incidents. After it was over, she had her degree, and very recently was hired by Hephaestus Industries for good pay and sent to the Horizon. She looks forward to her new experiences, but still hopes to keep up her patriotic spirit and connect to her home through the extranet. What do you like about this character?: I feel like Khar’dassa is very rooted in the history of the Tajara, and specifically in the conflict and industrialization of the species. She’s pushed by a desire to progress the species into the space age, and her attitude towards the PRA gives me a chance for good role-play with others, tempered by her need to stay hired. How would you rate your role-playing ability?: I think I’m good at getting into the character’s emotional state, and I try to make them well-rounded and influenced by their beliefs in the way that real people are. My goal for my characters is to make them feel like living people. Notes: None! Link to comment
Lilly Evans
I was talking with Pochto about this and had some questions I asked on discord I thought would be fun for them to answer: During her preparations for invasion, what measures did her family take? Did they can food? Did they have an abundance of sustenance or how close to running out were they? Create a fake dish they would have prepared or canned at the time, just be imaginative! During the 4 years she studied, did she make any friends? How difficult was the school work for her? What are her opinions on other Tajaran ethnicities? Does she discriminate against the Zhan and nobles? What are her thoughts on the other nations of Adhomai? What about the expat communities across the galaxy like Himeo and Beisel? Link to comment

Does she discriminate against the Zhan and nobles? What are her thoughts on the other nations of Adhomai? What about the expat communities across the galaxy like Himeo and Beisel? Got the answers here; 1. They began preparing early to leave if needed, and so got as much canned food as they could, being from a center of industry. Typically, they would use the human canned foods they had to make whatever they could; a particular favorite of Khar'dassa's was canned mandarin oranges and pineapples in one bowl, one of the best things she could eat at the time. 2. The schoolwork was easier for her, being from a center of new technology and innovation, but she was rather lonely. She did manage to make a friend in the same year as her; Nohr'ai I'krenne, who was studying exosuit design. They still keep in contact over Square and talk almost daily! 3. Doesn't discriminate! She buys into the idea of abolishing ethnicity/caste system entirely and making everyone equal under the government. 4. The Democratic People's Republic are trying their best, but they don't have the right ideas. The NKA? Regressive, royalist bastards who either don't know how terrible life was under the old system or would be in power under it. She doesn't know too much about the expat communities, but views them as similarly misguided. They should help on Adhomai instead of fleeing! Link to comment
LynxSolstice
Met Pocheto in-game while they were playing a Tajara Smuggler. It was a great time, though short. +1 from me, I see no issues in the strength of their RP and I know they'll do good. Link to comment

Ramke
Hi, sorry, didn't realise this was a Tajara application from the title! I have a few more questions for you to answer: 1) What religion, if any, does Khar’dassa follow? What does she think of the others? 2) It's clear that Khar’dassa is a patriotic follower of the PRA, which school of thought would she align herself the most to? 3) What are her goals now that she is aboard the Horizon? I /very/ much regret the title choice haha 1. She believes in no religion. The old religions are fine to practice, but should be reformed somewhat to remove the obvious influence of the old nobility in them that keep the people shackled. 2. She'd describe herself as orthodox. She's a patriot, but she's not at the point (yet) where she advocates for the totalist Hadiism of the PSIS. 3. Khar'dassa wants to learn more about the wider galaxy, and spread her ideology (just a little). There are so many things in the galaxy and if some of them can be integrated to improve Hadiism, she'd be excited to help. She's deeply curious. Link to comment
