Star Dust Posted August 4, 2023 Posted August 4, 2023 I've noticed something that's kinda bugged me about the server. I know you can just force feed someone water, or force feed them food, you'd think with us being a HRP server we would have normal saline packets and parenteral nutrition packets on hand to help dehydrate/feed patients who might be to critically hurt to stand. It doesn't have to be something major, just something more elegant then force feeding someone a packet of beef jerky or pouring water down their throat. My suggestion would be, normal saline should barely help restore blood, and help hydrates the patient. While the parenteral nutrition should just administer nutrition to said patient. Before you say it, yes I know we have saline plus, but that is almost NEVER used to help hydrate someone, its always used to help restore blood, it also takes phoron to make, which is super limited and to waste a super valuable piece of medicine on just hydration is kinda stupid. It's also help free up time for medical staff to not have to waste time in running around medical to find a beaker or go to buy a packet of food to feed a patient, instead all it needs is for the person to hook up an IV, and be done with it, freeing up said medical staffs time. Saline is one of the cheapest chems to make because its main ingredient is just water which pharmacists can get from the tap in the pharmacy. Phoron is used as a catalyst and is not consumed at all, so it's not a waste. I wouldn't mind seeing these but I'll be honest, I don't think they'll ever see use. If they're too critical to stand up and have a snack or drink from a bottle of water, medical isn't going to worry about the nutrition. Neither is the patient. I can count the number of times a patient mentioned hunger/thirst on a single hand from years of playing in medical. Quote

Still, it makes no sense for it to not be in the game, I understand it would be rare to be used, but it also could give something medical interns of physicans to do when there is a big waiting line of people who need surgeries and surgeons are working around the clock. I understand it would be low priority, but still it should be something possible. One example is, how often do we use Ryetalyn? I literally have seen it used twice in the multiple years of playing medical, but we still have it for a reason. Same also could be said for Raskara Dust, Krok Juice, Paxazide, or Asinodryl. All of these are super niche chemicals and items but we STILL have them. So I see no reason not to add normal Saline in as well. Edited August 4, 2023 by Star Dust Quote
GeneralCamo Posted August 4, 2023 Posted August 4, 2023 I had planned to add glucose solution bags to medical, which would resolve this issue. Quote
