Cloned Creature Posted August 8, 2023 Posted August 8, 2023 (edited) BYOND Key: Cloned Creature Character Names: Verner Riphea, Fortune Chauvin. Species you are applying to play: Vacura What color do you plan on making your first alien character: RGB (RGB 0, 80, 60) Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes, I have read the lore section's. Why do you wish to play this specific race: I wish to play the Vacura race because there is a lot of potential for different Vacurae. For example, you could have a Bound Janitor who has a simple job and completes it without any hesitation. You could also have Bound Surgeon who has a considerably more complex job than the janitor but still can perform it because they were quite literally created for that purpose. On the other hand, there are many jobs an Unbound could take that a Bound Vacura could not. An Unbound Vacura might be able to take the job of Warden, while a Bound would not. This is due to the Bound being a sort of "slave" caste and not being grown with their full brain intact. K'ois are also an interesting concept with them being hazardous to non-Vacura. I like the idea of the sentient K'ois being used to gain nourishment from the fungi. Identify what makes role-playing this species different from role-playing a Human: Aside from the most obvious things, such as physiology, and culture. One very important one is the VR. Whether being in the relaxing state of Vibrations or the intense War Games, a Vacurae is raised in VR and not the real world. This creates a huge gap in experience from a fresh out of VR Vacurae to a human Scarab. Phoron necessity is another important difference. Phoron is fatal to other alien species, so being reliant on something fatal to others creates an interesting idea. A major difference is history. The Vacurae have an enforced taboo about recovering old artifacts and knowledge. Character Name: Ka'Akaix’Lorn K'lax Backstory: Hailing from Tret, this 11-year-old unbound of Leto's brood is a very diligent worker. Living on Tret was very difficult even for a Vacura, even if specifically bred to live there. The conditions were harsh and Lorn had to work brutal and lengthy shifts to get by. Lorn worked in the experimental Neutron forge as an atmospheric technician, often barely scraping by in terms of credits. Day by day it went about working, fueling the forge with the gases it needed, primarily Phoron. At one point it suffered a traumatic Phoron burn and was immediately transported to the hospital. It thanked his employers greatly as it’s insurance covered most of the damage. Though, it is still in some debt to this date. A few years after the Phoron burn scare, Lorn was slowly rising in paycheck quality, noticing that it could afford more than it previously could. That is, until the Phoron crisis. Due to the forge taking up the tremendous amounts of Phoron it does, it suffered. Due to this, Hephaestus Industries laid off many workers, including Lorn. And so, kicked out of the workplace it worked in for years, it looked for another job opportunity. Lorn was struggling to find a new job to support it’s life, often finding and completing odd jobs to stay afloat in terms of credits. Soon it found the SCCV Horizon and applied, gaining the job quite slowly due to the need for the "work visa" the Hegemony requires for Vacurae to travel the galaxy. What do you like about this character?: I like the idea of the hard-working everyday person, struggling just to survive. It opens many roleplay-related opportunities in terms of financial struggle, economic separation, and social gaps. For instance, having Lorn interact with someone of a very wealthy descent would be interesting, having to see how and if they might get along. Another interesting roleplay opportunity is the relationship between the Vacurae and Unathi of Tret. It might be interesting to see two individuals bonding over being born in Tret. As for my role-playing ability, I would honestly rate it at an average/medium level. I have had some difficulties sometimes, but overall I am confident. I have had some issues in the past but have resolved them and moved on. Edited August 25, 2023 by Desven Corrected the pronoun errors I found
Desven Posted August 25, 2023 Posted August 25, 2023 Hello. Sorry for the delay. I've noticed you've kept updating your application, and I think it's fairly good. However, I'm still concerned about how you keep spelling "Vacura." This is a fairly common mistake, but please remember the species is named Vaurca. That is very important if you want to play the species. However, I know that denying this app for only that mistake would be very petty. This application is accepted.
