BYOND Key: eyod

Character Names: Frothi Einarsson, Mikhail Petrovic, Weston Kupi (Deleted), Halle Jokkulsson (Retired)

Species you are applying to play: Tajara

What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Orange (RGB 238, 64, 0 / Hex #ee4000) Njarir-Akhran

Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes

Why do you wish to play this specific race:

For the longest time since I've started playing Aurora, no other lore has captivated me quite like the Tajara. They have starkly different cultures compared to the modern humans, yet eerily, hauntingly carry the same marks of old human civilization. From oppressive industrial districts to a cosmopolitan hedonistic city to cottage-core serfdom villages, there are all walks of like contained into one tiny world. There are ideas for characters which are more exacerbated in Tajara society than it would be in Human society, due to their history and innate difference. Tajara are also on the more extreme end of things, allowing for a few more eccentric kinds of characters than what would normally be accepted. Simply put, I wish to play as the Tajara due to their especially unique lore that isn't seen anywhere else.

Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human:
There is a special amount of baggage when it comes to playing Tajara. They have so many conflicts, burdens, and differences that it is genuinely hard to understand from an outsider's perspective. Tajara society is rife with conflict and war, and it is very important when making a Tajara character how all of these events can affect their character. Like with most species, the Tajara all share a common world, and their homeworld is strife with just about everything. Due to the almost inhospitable nature of their planet, a lot of Tajara emigrate to other countries. The Tajara have had several exoduses in their history, with thousands if not hundreds of thousands escaping to Sol (before the Tajara bans), Himeo, or the Republic of Biesel. In Biesel, all of their cultural norms mesh into District 6, which it itself is filled with turmoil and conflict. In Himeo, although the FTC is relatively peaceful, there is tensions about the future of the council. It's as if the Tajara are universally unlucky in their endeavors, and wherever they go, there's always some nasty force in some shape or form ready to fight against them. There are various consequences awaiting rebellious Tajara should they try to go against the norm.

Their unique culture meshes interestingly with other species, some viewing the Tajara with acceptance like Biesellites to xenophobia like the Solarians. Some people view their societies as fragile and hostile or just simply too weak to exist, whilst others view theirs as righteous, traditional, or simply a tool to further economic goals. This comes with Tajara having their own conflicts when it comes to interacting with human society, both sides having a tough time agreeing on various topics. Whether the Tajara will be able to assimilate under one banner and integrate into the entire spur or forever remain divided and hostile will be yet to seen, and is up to fate.

Character Name: Kazazharim Ma'Zahjhman

Please provide a short backstory for this character

Kazazharim Ma'Zahjhman (Known in Basic as Kaz) was born January 2nd, 2440 in Crevus to the peasant Njarir'Akhran Ma'Zahjhman line who lost their nobility status even before the first revolution. His parents had only recently moved in from the port-city of Miran'mir to the illustrious Crevus. Although not a huge focus of Kaz's life, his parents are an extremely odd pair. Followers of Ancient Tajara Theory, Kaz's parents follow closely behind in the Revival Royalist version of the theory, wherein that the Njarir are closest to ancient Tajara. However, these beliefs would not really stick onto Kaz due to his upbringing in Crevus, becoming more of a moderate when it came to these frivolous 'theories'. Later in his life, Kazazharim would begin to follow the Ma'ta'ke pantheon, as a result of being exposed to Rredouane praise from the city, deciding his 'patron deity' to be Rredouane.

In his younger years, they were relatively peaceful. Kazazharim was kept safe by his parents for the most part, and went to a decent school. His grades were fairly high, owing to his Njarir descent. His childhood wasn't as interesting, it was the events surrounding it that defines him. When he was 9, the NKA formed. His parent's were ecstatic at the news, but were unable to secure a citizenship at the time due to the inability to forfeit their PRA citizenship. Then turning 11, his life, and the majority of Adhomai's as well, would take a turn. President Al'Mari Hadii was assassinated, and soon enough the Adhomai Liberation Army sprang up. This was especially chaotic for Crevus, as the city soon turned over to the ALA. One night, Kaz's parents ushered him into a secret room and hid, as Hadiist authority throughout the city were attacked in coordinated attacks. The city had fallen to the ALA in the Crevan Uprising.

Despite all the chaos, Kaz had made it through the second revolution. Turning 16, he graduated from his primary school, and went on with his life. However, he had always lived in Crevus, and in Crevus, the underworld was ever so present. Kaz had lived in Azaula territory, and soon he joined a delinquent gang that was under the watchful eye of the Azaula. Soon enough, he came to be seen by local family enforcers as an interesting prospect. Quiet, intelligent, but always kept an air of respectability around him. This led to one fateful day when he was 18, where Kaz was suddenly pulled aside by known family enforcers and given an opportunity to become a made man for the lesser Azaula families. Being young and stupid, he saw this as his golden opportunity to rise through the hierarchy of Crevus, and excitedly took up the opportunity. He finally a made man for the Azaula. During this time of growth, he also become more knowledgeable about the world around him. He soon picked up on small parts of other languages, like the exotic Ya'ssa (which he had only heard from his parents or from hushed Azaula capos) and parts of Tau Ceti Basic.

For the next few years, he bounced from position to position in the families, mostly working as security or bouncers for the nightclubs, casinos, and bars that the lesser families ran. Kaz was fortunate enough to not get into the bloody mess of gang wars and street fights, and usually was the one breaking the fights up himself. This would all lead up to 2461. At 21 years old, and with a newly acquired NKA citizenship thanks to the Armistice of Shastar, Kaz was starting to think of what he would do with his life, recognizing the gangster lifestyle is inherently unsustainable and only leads to an early grave. He looked towards Idris, which historically had ties with the Azaula, as a source of employment. Stricken with feelings of wanderlust, he soon prospected the idea of being employed by Idris. Kaz visited the Twin Nm'shaan Mall in hopes of joining their security division. He talked to the recruiters there, getting to know each other, and before he knew it, he was being given a contract. The contract was a simple one, only requiring a few months of academy training to be hired.

Kaz went through with this opportunity, and began training in the Kaltir Law Academy located in the NKA. After 3 months, along a few additional months to learn Tau Ceti Basic, Kaz was finally able to undergo full employment with Idris. For the next 4 years, Kaz had jumped around positions within Idris security on Adhomai. He frequently changed positions from guarding luxury resorts to protecting trains and banks containing mass amounts of credits. During these 4 years, he has gotten enough experience to attract the eye of one of his higher-ups. Seeing as Kaz was a hard and diligent worker, Kaz was finally given an opportunity which he had been working for 4 years for, the chance to explore the stars, in the form of a position opening on the SCCV Horizon. At long last, Kaz has finally found his place, onboard the SCCV Horizon.

What do you like about this character?

Kaz is the kind of character I don't make often, lots of thought is put into his character, and owing to the fact he is my first alien character, I am very excited to play him. His upbringing is most interesting to me, it is one of an although ascendent trajectory, it is rife with conflict, tension and unease throughout. He is also a slightly relatable character, which I believe is important for humanization and characterization and what not.

How would you rate your role-playing ability?

I have been roleplaying for a few years now. Over time I have grown my RP skills considerably, and although I think I'm a generally decent RPer, I still have a few things to improve. 6/10.

Notes: Despite the appearance of a strained relationship between Kaz and his parents, his parents still harbor love and great joy towards their son, hoping to see him return to Crevus one day.

Kazazharim is a follower of the Ma'ta'ke Pantheon, with his patron deity being of Rredouane, owing to his Crevan upbringing.

Owing to his youth and his upbringing, Kaz is much less conservative than his parents, and is generally uncaring to things such as interethnic relationships, though he is still quite close-minded about things like homosexuality and xenophilia, and would rather keep quiet as to not draw the ire of his employers. He is also politically moderate, severely disliking his parents extreme takes on the Adhomai Ancient Theory. Kaz despises the PRA, supports the NKA, and does not have high hopes for the DPRA.

Kaz is somewhat influenced by Lackadaisy, but I believe he is a different enough character to be original.

Out of the royalist schools of thought from the New Kingdom, which one does Kazazharim aligns himself with the most?

Besides working for the SCC, what are Kazazharim's plans for the future? What does he seek to accomplish in the long term?

Out of all the royalist schools of thought, Kazazharim most likely aligns with the Royal Party, even if he is not a part of royalist positions himself. The way he sees it, regardless of who's in charge, there can only be one at the top, and there has to be everyone else at the bottom. He detests the reactionary Njarir'Akhran Renewal Fraternity.

Kazazharim wants to visit and explore the Spur, perhaps an unusual goal for most Tajara, keeping away from Adhomai until true peace is found on the planet. Secondarily, finding much more money is to be earned working with Idris, he wants to work for a better future for himself, trying to detach from the generational poverty of his family.
