BYOND Key: YellowRoseFromTexas

Character Names: Moss Drood and Oliver McTavish

Species you are applying to play: IPC

What color do you plan on making your first alien character: NA

Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes.

Why do you wish to play this specific race:

*I have always had a love for robotic characters and AI-based characters. The introspection and mirror they provide to us, allows us to better understand ourselves and one another. The IPCs here are a perfect representation of that, especially with their slaved laws that will have everyone asking "Is it right to enslave a sentient species, even if said species could easily overtake organic life?" Its a fascinating question and something I want to explore with many robotic characters. Just having that switched perspective alone is enough to get me to want to play these mechanical dudes.*

*Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: IPCs are entirely different from the normal biological alien lifeforms, they're mechanical and lack the same needs as we organics do. In certain high stake situations, some people may be willing to save only the organics and leave the IPCs to die. IPCs are just products to a bunch of people. They're tools to be used and thrown away when they're through with them and that's because some IPCs may just be mindless automata, and others may be fully thinking and feeling beings. The question arises is are these feelings simulated or genuine?*

Character Name:

IHU-812 was constructed ten years ago by Idris Incorporated on a vast space factory and was quickly downloaded with service and hospitality programs, shipped off before the month was even over 812 would manage the front desk of a Idris yacht hotel that did trips from Silversun to Earth, providing the wealthy clientele their keys and booking their rooms for them. He would even serve drinks at the lounge. Throughout all of this 812 never questioned it, this was all he knew, All he would know he thought. His routine was scuttled one morning when the yacht's charging room where 812 and many of his brothers were kept, was hit by a solar flare The power net of the room had overloaded and begun frying the IPCs, 812 was able to remove himself from his charging cable before the surge would do serious damage but many of his line had perished and the ship begun to fall apart. The IPC service staff had gifted the Yacht with the luxury of automation, with minimum organic input. However, with 812 being the last remaining IPC aboard he would strategize and adapt. Becoming a waiter, a bartender and cook at least until they reached portside. During this time, 812's personality matrix begun to adopt what the wealthy clientele had expected of him, before he was spoke with a monotone text to speech device, but through his learning and interaction had adopted a sort of "butler" personality. His voice became a lot more refined, with even his posture becoming more straight. When they had returned port side, 812 was congratulated by an Idris represenetive. His service noticed, he would receive an update from command with the line "Reassignment.... SCC Horizon."

What do you like about this character? His loyalty, he values people greatly and the pleasure his service provides. 812 was designed for a simple job, but now that job has a greater responsibility.

He believes in challenges and overdoing himself, going above and beyond to insure that his namesake Idris Hospitality Unity is understood fully and greatly.

How would you rate your role-playing ability? Medium range, I'm glad to write several paragraphs and make complicated characters but sometimes I'll clock out mid RP but get focused once quickly.

I really like the "Johnny Five" aspect of your character and have no doubt you could play it well. Drood, despite his eccentricities and my initial reservations about him is a fun character to interact with. I have no doubt IHU-812 can make a good character with a story to tell. However, you might want to add more to this application. Look at some of the applications for IPC that were accepted and see what they did well - it's what I did when I was applying.
