One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: The slang interests me it seems usable in roleplay and i have to admit it i saw some IPCs and i noticed they have some great roleplay so i figured if i became one mayhaps i could join it also has some very interesting lore and mechanics and the entire part about how they act different from humans caught my eye the backstory for a synthetic is also easier to make then a bug and i also like the not feeling pain part because roleplaying pain is hard to do Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: IPC’s do a lot different of things different from humans. IPC have slang for example they say Syn, Hu, Sk, Tj, Un, Vr, Di, and Anm which means Synthetics, Humans, Skrell, Tajara, Unathi, Vaurca, Dionaea as well as Anomalies. A important thing to note about IPC slang is that they mostly only use it in EAL. younger IPC’s tend to not understand human slang . IPC’s are also known to use words like affirmative and negative. IPCs dont feel pain so they wouldnt scream when they get hurt and if they do scream it is out of fear and newer IPCs wouldnt scream out of fear due to them not really knowing these types of reactions are a thing they could do as they start blank they as a species are also vulnerable to EMPs due to their mechanical body but they are not required to breath air. But despite this they need cooling to prevent them from overheating in space their lives IPCs are directed to keep themselves alive and safe aka self preservation but every IPC goes at this goal differently this could mean a security officer IPC could be going at it by removing threats from their location but a janitor would likely hide in the case of a threat and some IPCs are not designed to be able to socalise and mimic humanoids and as such will not seem very natural to humans IPCs in general are discriminate against most companies its really hard to get their own freedom but when it comes to hephaetus they are pretty good at it not paying them and when they would have gained enough money to buy their freedom they are allowed to try to get their own freedom if they succeed and stay with the company they will get paid IPCs learn through memories and experienced combined with datapacks datapacks are packs of informations that is either uploaded to a shell or Positronic Brain Directly Character Name:Alpha-16 Please provide a short backstory for this character Alpha-16 was manufactured on 2455/12/12 by Hephaestus and worked for Hephaetus and worked in biesel and was given a Baseline Model IPC frame for work for awhile Alpha would scavenge old ships wrecks with other IPC’s but eventually they were sent to a moon to mine and their job was to maintain the reactor in the base so the other IPC’s could continue to mine the reason behind this job not being taken by a human was that the moon was very close to Tau Ceti’s star and it would be easier to only send IPC’s to mine here. at some point Alpha had gained enough money to buy their freedom and so they did Alpha would continue to work on this moon until they applied for the horizon they were accepted due to their experience running a reactor despite Alphas They have had very little interactions with other species and as such are very unfamiliar with human slang this is why Alpha experienced less discrimination but this does not mean alpha was not discriminate against maintenance was both what alpha looked forward to and hated going to as they liked getting repaired but hated how the humans treated them alpha tend to be a nice synthetic but they can be kind of straight forward at times due to alpha not being needed to interact with humans very much they have poor social skills when it comes to communicating with humans often remaining silent and following orders this is also part of their goal of self preservation seeing it as easier and safer to simply follow orders unless it risks their shell What do you like about this character? I like that they are a engineer for one because engineers are fun to play as and i also like their frame because i like the look of the baseline model i also enjoy how the backstory makes sense and is gives information on why the horizon saw them as a good fit for the ship's crew and i enjoy the fact they are free also its highly important to note that they spent little time around humans and as such does not know much human slang or emotional displays How would you rate your role-playing ability?: im moderately good i have been improving Notes: thanks to the lore devs who helped me with this Link to comment
The lancer
Thanks for applying, but the character background is too short and needs some expansion. What did Alpha do when they weren't working, for example? Did people only discriminate against Alpha because of the slang? What is the story behind them transferring between the two jobs? Did they live in Biesel at all? Link to comment
Gregory
hows this? What did Alpha do when they weren't working, for example? Alpha was almost never not working during the very few times they were outside the mining base they spent it getting maintenance on a nearby facility Did people only discriminate against Alpha because of the slang? : well it would be hard for humans to understand most of the slang considering most of it is spoken in EAL either way the large majority of his discrimination came from the fact he was a IPC in general Alpha at first thought that it could be related to his frame but he didnt have the money to change it but soon he found out that wasnt that case What is the story behind them transferring between the two jobs? There was a lot of scavangers already and they needed a engineer for the moon they planed on mining as the scouting operations found it to have lots of good resources so they transferred Alpha to that position instead Did they live in Biesel at all? Technically yes but they spent a large majority of their life on the moon they worked on because the company didnt give them breaks besides maintenance Edited December 15, 2023 by Gregory fixing some spaceing Link to comment
The lancer
Even with the answers, they are too short. The character doesn't have enough depth I'm afraid, and it feels more like a ticked checkbox than a backstory. Come back with a better, more developed concept. You can reapply in 3 days.
