Butterrobber202 Posted February 21, 2024 Posted February 21, 2024 (edited) Konyang Survivors want to RP and organize, so they use the radio, that's all well and good. But if they only have common to organize over, then the Horizon is dragged into their desperate survival attempts every round. Common should only be accessibly by Horizon Staff. A unique telecommunications channel should be created for Konyang. (perhaps Konyang Military also get a unique one) If they want to contact the Horizon, they can use Hailing like everyone else. Fyni Posted February 21, 2024 Posted February 21, 2024 (edited) Yes please. Perhaps let them have access to common on top of a special Konyang channel too, but right now a lot of ghost roles right now turns Common into an unusual mess of Solcom which half the crew can't even understand. Butterrobber202 Posted February 21, 2024 Author Posted February 21, 2024 ok if I understand how the radio code works, what would have to be done for this to work is that: Common is currently a "no-access" channel. If you have a handheld radio or something like it, it will grant you automatic access to Common. To fix the problem, a general "Horizon" access tag would need to be added to all ship-side roles to give them access to common. Hailing would then have to become a "no-access" channel that can be accessed by anyone using a handheld radio. Quote
Girdio Posted February 21, 2024 Posted February 21, 2024 Would it be possible to just give Konyang their own unique channel, instead of having to remove Common from off-ship roles? I'm not sure if that would be easier or not, but given that off-ship roles already have unique radio channels for themselves, I would assume something similar could be done for Konyang. 1 Quote
Lly2 Posted February 21, 2024 Posted February 21, 2024 overhearing the konyangers right now is still interesting, but i can definitely anticipate it becoming really tiresome over a longer period of time. or just if you play any character that doesn't speak sol common. personally would be happy to see something done so we don't overhear all the ghost roles every time they're around Quote
DatSamTho Posted February 21, 2024 Posted February 21, 2024 Tbf, it kind of would make sense, since we've got the hailing channel. That one would be one that's probably more or less agreed upon spur-wide. Quote
HanSolo1519 Posted February 21, 2024 Posted February 21, 2024 The way I visualized working would be to have a common role locked behind an access flag that every single horizon job has Then taking every stationbound and wall intercom on the horizon and making them /horizon subtypes (that are set to this new 'restricted' intercom common channel), so that the normal intercoms and stationbounds on offships are automatically not effected It'd be a bit of busywork but it should be pretty straightforward and would definitely help with every round being consumed by l4d2, konyanger edition Quote
Ramke Posted February 21, 2024 Posted February 21, 2024 (edited) Please. Every single round I played since the start of this week has been spammed by sol common despite them not even being on the ship. It's not fun when you have to sift through and find actual lines when 80% of your chat log is a language you don't understand. If not that then at least add functionality to mute/not show messages spoken in selected languages. Edited February 21, 2024 by Ramke 3 Quote
