pocheto Posted August 21 Posted August 21 Ckey/BYOND Username: Pocheto, for both Position Being Applied For: Deputy Loremaster Have you read the Lore Team Rules and Regulations wiki page? Yes! Past Experiences/Knowledge: I'm an avid reader of Aurora lore, and although I don't have experience leading a team professionally, I 100% love the setting and world and want to improve it. I also write, although as an amateur. Examples of Past Work: I don't have any past work for Aurora lore unless you count being a color commentator. Most of my experience writing is for personal satisfaction or tabletop gaming. 1) What do you believe you can bring to the team as Deputy Loremaster. I believe that I can help support the teams by providing an overview perspective of the lore, and helping head-Lore keep the setting grounded and tie things together. I've helped some members of lorestaff (namely, Desven) with ideas before, and I think that having a person who's genuinely interested in the lore and wants to improve it with a passion would be beneficial to Aurora. I'm quite enthusiastic about the lore; I've been active in all species on the lore discord since I joined, essentially, along with obtaining every whitelist. 2) Do you have any experience managing a Team? The duties of a Deputy Loremaster often revolve around being a Project Lead, not necessarily just writing. Not professionally. 3) Your thoughts on me as a loremaster, and how best you think you can assist me. I quite like your loremaster tenure, even though I've only been here since the one before it. Some of my favorite lore has been developed during it, such as Unathi gender lore. You also have been quite cordial in our few interactions. 4) What do you believe are your biggest drawbacks, both as a writer and as an applicant for this position? I have quite a lot of anxiety, and I am a newer player, comparatively. I've been here for 8 months. Besides that, I do tend to procrastinate somewhat. 5) In a brief summary, explain the direction you'd wish to see the Lore Team take in regards to AuroraLore. I'd love for even more of that 'everyday' lore I talked about previously. Seeing how overarching, large lore impacts individual characters should be the main focus of Aurora, seeing as, fundamentally, the lore is a tool for players to create their own stories. 6) Where do you think lore is lacking currently? I personally think that certain lore could interact more with the rest of the setting (see; Golden Deep, until recently.) I'd love for lore to have a more connected feeling, especially when it comes to alien-alien interactions: I don't think humans should be the only focus of the setting. 7) Lastly, what timezone are you normally awake during? PST. (it's 10 for me right now, technically within cutoff) 5
Triogenix Posted August 31 Posted August 31 Hello! Thank you for applying, and apologies I'm only now getting to this. I just have a couple comments/questions about your application. 1) Reading over your app, I'm struggling to get a sense of what your thought process looks like, so I'd like you to explain in depth how you'd go about accomplishing the following goals; I'd like to run a biesel arc about growing economic issues within the republic, but keeping it minor, as a stopgap measure between now and whenever I finish the scarcity rework. This should be done primarily via articles, but have in-game effects if possible. 2) The position of deputy loremaster is, compared to mine atleast, much more involved in writing lore, but still has significant management aspects. With that said, do you think you'll be capable of at times being the "bad person" for lack of a better term. That's all for now! I'll probably have several follow up questions depending on how you answer these. Remember there are no wrong answers, and thank you for applying once again!
GeneralCamo Posted August 31 Posted August 31 For you, I have a couple questions: To what extent should gameplay reflect the lore, and vice versa? Are there any exceptions you can think of to your general opinion on this? What are your thoughts on real-life modern concepts added to the game, and the lore? Let's also consider destructive concepts such as drugs.
pocheto Posted August 31 Author Posted August 31 16 hours ago, Triogenix said: stuff 1) I'd first set up the economic decline using articles, establishing it in the wider spur before focusing on how it would affect the Horizon. Then, using the relay's announcements and IC Announcements, start talking about budget cuts to the Horizon, increased productivity goals, etc. Mechanically, I'd say taking away some luxuries would make the crew at the very least cognizant of it- nothing too disruptive, but perhaps decreased stock of supplies in the deck 3 cafe or less equipment vendor stock. 2) I think I'm capable of that. Creative control is important for making sure our setting is internally consistent in tone. 6 hours ago, GeneralCamo said: Stuff, things etc. 1) I think that gameplay should generally reflect lore, as this is a roleplaying game first and foremost. Some gameplay concerns should also be written into lore to justify large changes- see cloning, and how that had to be removed for gameplay reasons and retconned in lore. I think that generally, the two should be focused on facilitating what we're here for- roleplay that's accessible for everyone. 2) I think that generally, we should focus on some more modern concepts added to the game- the lack of phones, for instance, has always been strange for me, but I understand the anachronisms are usually parts of the game's culture. I'm not too hard-set on changing any of these things. I think that drugs as portrayed should, most of the time, be fictional- being quite honest, I do not trust myself to tackle those topics in a realistic way, as I have no personal experience. Thanks for considering me!
Triogenix Posted September 6 Posted September 6 Thank you for your application. However I have decided to go with another applicant. I hope to see you apply to more positions in the future however! 1
