Why do you wish to play this species?: I find the Vaurca engaging specifically for the way they function as a alien, outside species that has found itself forced to integrate into several wildly different societies. I think the fascination, resentment, suspicion and curiosity that Vaurca experience and create within other can lead to some really interesting interactions. On the other side of the coin, interactions between other Vaurcae has even more potential due to shared history,rivalries between hives and the almost limitless potential of VR. I also really like the “wetware” aspect of their species. With the augments, advanced bioforms and the Cephalons that keep the hivenet and VR functioning. What makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a human?: Probably the greatest thing is the post death aspect that the Vaurca have managed to achieve. The idea of being able to play a character from thousands of years ago who has been resleeved is wild. In the same vein, being able to play as Vaurca who has been killed and resleeved could be really interesting to lean into. ------------------------------ Character Application Character Name: Za’Akaix’Tilt Zo’ra Write a backstory for your character. This may include their origin, education, personality and how they arrived to the SCCV Horizon. Za’Akaix’Tilt Zo’ra was born 6 years ago to the Vaur brood, part of a clutch of Type BB Attendants specifically focused on enrolment in the Flagsdale Hornet’s as part of ongoing efforts to foster interspecies friendships and Flagsdale spirit. Unfortunately for Tilt, he fell short of the high standards needed to qualify for the Hornets while still a pupa. Failing to perform well enough within the VR simulations designed to baseline all member of the team, he was slated for culling before expressing interest in medical work, encouraged by tales of helpfulness, fulfilment and going places at very high speeds. After this pivot, Tilt began a intense battery of VR training courses, culminating in him reaching maturity and starting EMT work within one of the many Nanotrasen run Clinics in Flagsdale. He found this work far more fulfilling than expected and enjoying the tangible effecr he felt he was making in people’s lives. He worked hard, his speedy form, personable nature and knowledge of the winding Flagsdale streets made him popular and effective. He would earn his paramedic certification just in time for the second invasion of Beisel by the 35th fleet. Already a reserve in TCFL due to belonging to the Vaur Brood. Tilt served with distinction and received a commendation along with the rest of his medical unit during the 35th invasion. How has the recent events of the Orion Spur impacted your character? Events such as the Phoron Scarcity, the Solarian Collapse or even the Invasions of Biesel for interstellar-wide affairs, while region-specific events such as the Peacekeeper Mandate, The Titan Rises or even Cold Dawn may impact your character. The second invasion of Beisel was a defining moment for Tilt. Despite being part of several perfectly tailored wargame simulators in the VR, Tilt was still stunned by the realness of the devastation as the debris and fallout of the fighting above Biesel caused mass damage and injuries upon the cities below. Although not part of the peacekeeper mandate due to a posting elsewhere, various communications and conversations held with peers in the hivenet lit a small seed of doubt within him. These feelings have stayed with him, although mostly internalised to this day, even after the mandate ended. More recently, he’s been very troubled by the War in Heaven, especially at the thought of so many warriors voiding in Xathul Xon. How does your character view the megacorporation they work for? Having been surrounded by Nanotrasen’s brand for much of his life, Tilt’s both admiring and loyal towards Nanotrasen. With the Flagsdale’s pylon and the various Nanotrasen run medical facilities that Tilt has either worked at firmly cementing the greater cooperation between Nanotrasen, The Vaur Brood and Nanotrasen is only to the benefit of all three.
