Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this species?: I am a huge fan of strange alien creatures in fiction especially ones that coexist with humans. The Vaurca interest me the most in the lore with their hive structure and unique bug-like biology and culture also I'm a huge bug nerd IRL! The way the hivenet operates and their way of speaking intrigued me the most mechanically and is the reason they are the first race im applying for. The Vaurca history is immense with them being one of the oldest civilizations to exist which I think has a lot of opportunities for roleplay. The different hives being sort of specialized into unique occupations and interests could make for many interesting character concepts from different hives in several departments around the Horizon. What makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a human?: Mandible grinding, antennae flicking and chittering. I love strange and foreign movements being integrated into regular roleplay speech. If you've ever played on Baystation, I have the whitelist for their Giant Armored Serpentid race which is another insect type that rely on emotes and unique speech patterns to convey their ideas. The way they view concepts such as work and loyalty make them stand out from humans. For example, Vaurcae loyalty is an ingrained biological directive to their queen which is given at birth. the Bound Vaurcae are a very interesting (if not a tiny bit disturbing) system which I think is the most different from humans, with them being almost perfect semi-mindless workers made to do their assigned tasks by any means possible. Their biology differs so greatly from humans with so many different forms with different casts of Vaurcae being used for food collection to even giant biological computers. Character Name: Ka'Akaix'Doz Zo'ra Write a backstory for your character. This may include their origin, education, personality and how they arrived to the SCCV Horizon. (Sorry if some of these dates seem off, the wiki page for Vaurca biology isn't very clear with the timeframes in which they are born to becoming independents. I hope a young age such as 1-3 years wouldn't be strange for my character but of course you can correct me if it's too short of a time period. ) Birthed from Lesser Queen Athvur in the year 2465, Doz arrived on Biesel to their surrogate Ta in the city of Belle Côte. Their Imagotis was alike for all of their egg group under this Ta; Unbound workers meant for meal preparation and hospitality in a new world. Their VR training was varied yet highly condensed, being shown the history of their species' recent departure from Sedantis and the events recently occurring on the planet of Biesel. For their job training, many different cooking situations were being exposed to Doz during the pupae stage. Sometimes it was a busy line kitchen with many human customers and cooks preparing food in quick succession. Another was a reality tv show set in Bella Côte with a panel of human judges scoring the food presented to them. Although mostly prepared for cuisine for human consumption, they were still taught in the ways of preparing k'ois paste. Because of their designation, it was no surprise that after their training was done, they were put to work in the city of Bella Côte and prepared food under small local kitchens. Due to Vaurcae subsisting off of almost purely k'ois, being exposed to the varied and textured human foods enamored them to the smells and sights of the cultural city and dreamt of varying their culinary knowledge by working at, and interacting with as many foods as possible. Sometimes they would prepare k'ois for themselves in a way that would mimic extravagant human foods. Several months of such work led to an opportunity from an Orion Express representative after having a meal at a restaurant Doz worked in. The representative left a 5 star review stating "I saw a speedy little cricket behind the counter who prepared my food with utmost urgency and care!" and after, proposed that they were looking for a cook to work aboard a top of the line space vessel exploring deep space. All of Doz's coworkers proposed them to be the one chosen for the opportunity after seeing their penchant for knowledge. Ka'Akaix'Doz Zo'ra is a fast paced and quick speaking Vaurca with a friendly demeanor after being around tight-knit groups of humans for their short time alive. They are however sometimes impatient and will complain verbally if someone is taking too long. They are also curious due to their thirst for knowledge of food. For most of their life they have spent their time with many humans and time with other Vaurcae was relegated to returning to their hive-cell and working with the odd Vaurca in the kitchens they've occupied. How has the recent events of the Orion Spur impacted your character? Events such as the Phoron Scarcity, the Solarian Collapse or even the Invasions of Biesel for interstellar-wide affairs, while region-specific events such as the Peacekeeper Mandate, The Titan Rises or even Cold Dawn may impact your character. Being born pretty recently and on an out of the way city on Biesel, these major events were retold during their VR training, the older Vaurca in their hive-cell and from the word of mouth of their coworkers. Nonetheless, They would side with the Republic of Biesel in keeping peace in the Corporate Reconstruction Zone. After all, who wouldn't be loyal to their leaders? The second invasion of Biesel is more present in their mind than any other event they've heard of. They holds disdain for the solarian alliance for their aggressive attitude towards the TCFL and of their home of Biesel. They are loyal to the Republic of Biesel only second to Queen Athvur, though both of those convictions are still strong. Doz is of the Zo'ra hive, thus they is not directly involved with the machinations of the War in Heaven. Though they do express sadness for the events and wish for no major losses of life due to the "voiding" used in the Xathul Xon. How does your character view the megacorporation they work for? At first, Doz was ecstatic to work towards something greater such as this. A big name company taking interest in their work was putting stars in their sets of eyes. What would work be like farther away from their hive-cell? Would they meet new Vaurca? What sort of intriguing culinary experiences would they encounter? During their several trials and training under Orion, a realization came. This isn't what they thought it was. Instead of being put into a large scale kitchen serving exclusive clientele in space. Instead, they're being trained to make as much food in as little time as possible, Almost ignoring the quality and arrangement and just outputting the plain and simple word: food. Orion chose them for their speed of service rather than quality. This put them into a slight depression being away from their hive-cell and their former coworkers. Nonetheless, Doz is grateful for the opportunity and despite it not being exactly what they hoped for, they still do their job to the best of their ability.
