Species you are applying to play: Vaurca

------------------------------ General Whitelist Requirements

What colour do you plan on making your first alien character?: (RGB 130, 150, 20) – Vedhra Unbound

Have you read the lore pages for the species you wish to be whitelisted for?: Yes.

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question.

Why do you wish to play this species?:

If I were to be honest, Vaurca of all species have posed possibly the biggest issue for me to write for, personally, due to their biological and…cultural differences, when compared to other Xeno-species I had applied to before (IPC, Unathi, Tajara). On the other hand, I welcome this challenge with grace, as both an exercise of my own skill in order to convey a (subjectively) ‘good’ character in a species where the average lifespan ends at 20, and as an excuse to finally figure out what the Flagsdale Hornets were. The existing amount of Vaurca players on-board over the course of the last year has definitely helped surge my interest, as well.

What makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a human?:

Vaurca come from a unique biological spot when compared to most other alien species in the spur, due to their origin as an insect-adjacent presenting race. Their species is largely categorized into multiple playable or unplayable castes, with plenty unique to their functioning ‘bioforms’ – From the small AA Retainers, to the type BD+ Warforms, each with their own near-designed purpose, and unique backgrounds depending on their position within the Hives’ structure.
Their biology is united under the need for digestible K’ois, as well as breathable Phoron - A domesticated fungus native to their home, as well as a gas commonly filling the whole of their atmosphere, both largely deadly objects to the life of the wide Orion Spur. The Vaurca’s place in the Spur as incoming colonists, rather than pioneers, forces them to adapt to foreign /environments as well as cultures (to varied success).

Their values, similarly, are largely different to those of Humans and most other creatures in the Spur. Loyalty is biologically ingrained into their beings from birth, and the majority of their communications had been/are done via use of pheromones and appropriate body language (especially so before the need arose to develop voice synthesizers). This undying loyalty, to the Alate, the Lesser Queen, and the High Queen - is what unifies the Hive, pushing its’ values and development forward, benefiting them all.

------------------------------ Character Application

Character Name: Za’Akaix’Vazz K’lax

Write a backstory for your character. This may include their origin, education, personality and how they arrived to the SCCV Horizon.

Za’Akaix’Vazz K’lax was hatched in late 2464, raised by Bound of their surrogate Ta in a Hegemony-based hive-cell along with a batch of directly ‘sibling-like’ Warrior Attendants and Workers. Destined from the start to their existence to serve in the ranks of the other Vedhra brood against the future stand against the Lii’dra, Vazz’s Imagotis gave way to an image of a knowledgeable medic, able to fight its way through a battlefield in effort to save another's life. This expectation set a precedent for Vazz’s upbringing, following it along it's growth.

Vazz remembers partaking in VR trials and training since it first became able to. Vazz had artificially experienced the fearsome opponent that are Vaurcae of the Fourth Hive, and time and time again, failed and stood up to try again. With the help of relative time dilation, Vazz had trained in a loop of repeated death, failure, and repetition for what has felt like ages, in what was only about a year of time.
This form of time-investing training has left Vazz with an advanced sense of long-term thinking, providing it with enough self-restraint to assess situations rather than rush straight in, combined with its lack of fear toward the Lii’dra threat - a feeling replaced with an ever-burning hatred attributed to them as the source of Vazz’s simulated suffering, only strengthened by Vazz’s knowledge of Vaurcresian history developed over its time in Virtual Reality.
Vazz dedicated the rest of its time in VR toward experimentation, both in terms of understanding Vaurca's own biology in effort to better help others of its Hive, as well as to bring a quicker end to the Hive’s enemies. Queen Vedhra’s virtual wide-encompassing laboratories helped supply much of the ground for what Vazz knows, as it learned all that the realm had to offer alongside others from it's hive-cell.

Leaving Virtual Reality, Vazz gives the impression of a Vaurca much more aged than one would expect. Being able to understand the financial needs of its hive-cell, Vazz sought out it’s Ta and petitioned to leave their planetary dwelling, and seek out a better source of financial gain in the broader Spur.
This fortunate endeavour in search of proper funds to send back home had led Vazz to join the Ve’katak Phalanx, aligning themselves with their Vaurca-led messaging and joining their medical division, utilising Its existing knowledge and aiming to broaden it in ways not thought before. This effort saw them reassigned to the SCCV Horizon as of recent, the multi-cultural backbone of the SCC’s flagship a key point in the development of Vazz, both as an individual, and as means to deepen Its understanding of foreign culture to better the standing of the Hive.

How has the recent events of the Orion Spur impacted your character? Events such as the Phoron Scarcity, the Solarian Collapse or even the Invasions of Biesel for interstellar-wide affairs, while region-specific events such as the Peacekeeper Mandate, The Titan Rises or even Cold Dawn may impact your character.

Vazz shows a particular degree of interest in the War in Heaven between Queens Zkaii and Tupii (also known as the K’lax Civil War), considering Vazz’s background as brood of Vedhra, their affiliation to the Ve’katak Phalanx, and the innate feelings it bears as part of the Warrior caste.
In Vazz’s own thoughts, it considers the Civil War as, subjectively, a waste of time, due to the perceived threat to the livelihood of the Hives by the Lii’dra, as well as primarily - a tragedy to the integrity of the K’lax Hive. As a devout warrior of the Ve’katak, Vazz feels a strong need toward maintaining peace in the hives, as put by the Phalanx wide-encompassing ‘mission’.
Additionally, the mere existence of the Xathul Xon serves as a major point of internal turmoil as well as anxiety for Vazz, the real threat of voiding upon death in the Crucible deeply worsening Vazz’s perception of the war.

How does your character view the megacorporation they work for?

Vazz subscribes to the tenets of the Phalanx doctrine, and believes the Ve’katak give it purpose. Despite its young age, Vazz shows great initiative in tandem with the tenets, choosing to mesh between aliens and other Vaurca alike, studying, learning, and adapting the strengths of Its compatriots' ways of life into the work it does.
Its background as brood of Vedhra as well as a skilled attendant gives way to a malleable warrior, supporting the Phalanx third tenet. The intense work led by Its Queen, as well as her workers and warriors alike, proves beneficial to Vazz’s future with the Phalanx.
Vazz’s stance toward the tenet of self-sacrifice is absolute. It believes themselves to be ready to give Its life for any other, a somewhat pompous view for Its relatively young age. This sentiment, while following the fourth tenet, also highlights Vazz’s own faults in the form of its overconfidence, which have yet to be corrected, for artificial suffering in Virtual Reality is incomparable to that which can be suffered in real life - something that Vazz has not experienced yet.

Notes:

This is probably my shortest one by far, owing to the fact of simply how short Vazz’s life is, as well as my personal difficulties surrounding writing a Vaurca at all. Nevertheless, I feel like I’ve conveyed the basics of Vazz’s character quite well - and I’m looking forward to any feedback that might come my way.
