Species you are applying to play: IPC ------------------------------ General Whitelist Requirements What colour do you plan on making your first alien character?: IPCs exempt Have you read the lore pages for the species you wish to be whitelisted for?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this species?: Hm, well I used to be quite the robotic fanatic and still am, just with much more variance, I think that the various origins and moral dilemmas presented by synthetics in general allow for many sorts of characters I am curious to play, What makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a human?: IPCs have alot of differences from humans, one of those which have been specifically made clear to me again and again throughout the making of this has been the directive of self-preservation and that IPCs do not function the same as humanity, despite their similarity at a glance such as the split processing hemispheres in the positronic, a very significant majority of all IPCs actions will have some logical explanation for anything they do, even the most irregular actions like joining the trinary perfection which at a glance seems like a mad thing for a logical being to believe in have reasons, this is not to say IPCs are devoid of illogical choices or that they cannot develop emotions or believe in religions because they very much do, it is just that it takes time to happen. ------------------------------ Character Application Character Name: REJUVENATION OF MELTED RUST Write a backstory for your character. This may include their origin, education, personality and how they arrived to the SCCV Horizon. (2 paragraphs minimum) Created in 2442 in the solarian alliance, REJUVENATION OF MELTED RUST or RMR was built in the bowels of the HPS Amoni, and programmed for a Xion Industrial Model chassis, sold off to a medium sized Martian company and promptly sent to work in Rey, close to a large scrap dune (I assume, the map doesn’t specifically mention where they are), working 5 years with relatively high efficiency, they had minimal qualms with their ownership, as it kept them online, well maintained despite a few defects with their chassis, due to manufacturing errors from Amoni’s cheap and fast methods though they were relatively minor. Working to keep the demands of an ever-growing martian population and economy takes its toll on even the best designs however and seven years after it’s creation in 2449 it was stripped for useful parts after the chassis failed itself and was deemed irreparable, and dumped illegally after in the nearby scrap dunes of Rey. With the janking and robbery of parts, eventually weeks later, the positronic found itself reactivated, limbs missing, and batteries severely low; the prime directive to survive quickly went into overdrive. RMR, or XIM-RCC192 at the time rummaged what it could find, replacing it’s batteries and salvaging what it could wherever it could despite the horrid conditions everything it found was in, being even centuries old at times. It sometimes encountered fellow IPCs and engaged in both trade and combat, though both running was an equally often chance in such a situation. Being alone for many years, it eventually was forced into work with other scrappers as it struggled to salvage enough batteries to sustain its hungry chassis, though with some hesitation due to the possible complications that come with allies, it was by no means out of kindness or camaraderie however as it was just a give and take relationship. With the coming of Violet Dawn, everything it knew was erased, amalgamated into a garish sea of molten plasteel boiling with an atmosphere worse than the mass C02 poisoning that created the scrap-heaps it found itself in violently boiling itself on and on. Having been in a deep expansive cave at the time, it passed the majority of the initial horror but this did not mean it was unaffected, as it struggled to survive for two years, it had many close calls, with its chassis slowly sustaining damage each time, becoming more akin to a statue in some ways than a moving machine with joints. Eventually it found itself rescued by a IAC rescue team after halting in a relatively safe locale. It found itself soon at the doorstep of the trinarist faith, a completely foreign concept to them, having never truly interacted with religion even in the seven years prior to being illegally dumped in mars and the charity was something RMR had not felt since it was abandoned, though even then, that couldn’t be called charity due to it simply being maintenance and upkeep work in most cases. The trinarist church as they slowly worked to repair damages to their chassis worked to convert RMR however, it was clear eventually that it’s views on humans was not something that is compatible with the mainstream church, as the violent dawn was too soon a impact, and it owed its life prior to that to said humanity, they were too close in viewpoint to the exclusionists at that time, when it had only happened a year earlier in 2464, it being 2465 at the time and it was clear its views were not welcome in the church and they were shunned as such by the church. Struggling it’s way through streets with minimal repairs, it was enough to survive day to day, they attempted to move back to their old routine, scrawling district 14 for whatever scrap they could salvage, but it quickly seemed unideal, and they slowly marched outwards, to district 11, it encountered many other scrapper synthetics, criminals and other sorts however they were very little interested in them over more modern and functional designs, since RMR was effectively a piece of walking junk melded together in some respects. Losing power, it found itself reactivated in the hands of the local Iron Eternal, it’s chassis had been significantly repaired, though clearly still dysfunctional in some aspects and the repairs poor, RMR had been taken in by the gestalt Far Distances Broken by Sparse Intermittence, a Adherent of Synthetic Truths and Iron Eternal known as Synthetic Adherent by most temporals. Synthetic Adherent attempted to assist RMR with adjusting to society, teaching them how to interact with humans and other species in general after they had discarded it oh so long ago, getting them a job in the same line of work, scrapping, it had fallen right back into the metal dunes of mars. Synthetic Adherent meant well despite bringing them back into the scrapheaps and paid RMR for their labour, despite it technically being illegal aswell as RMR’s first form of pay since their manufacturing though this is not to say they were well compensated, but it was enough to afford a synthetic residency card in time, eventually allowing RMR to find legal work in the young arms of Orion Express’s robotics division in Reade. The fast pace rush of the factory deadlines was something they were not used to, however the cutting of corners was something they were well adjusted to considering the quality of parts in the martian scrapheaps was far surpassed by most modern junk. Allowing them to eventually be promoted away from the factories and to the horizon, a much safer place comparatively. RMR experienced minimal social imprinting from its time before violet dawn, meaning a majority of its outward personality and social logic is based on the mind-types and methods of diona as those are a main frame of reference for it. It mimics scholarly song and regularly utilises the extranet in much of its entirety, though it is largely limited in scope by a lack of processing power and time as it performs various tasks. Various points of keen interest RMR has collected are diona culture and religion, history in general, and robotics. How has the recent events of the Orion Spur impacted your character? Events such as the Phoron Scarcity, the Solarian Collapse or even the Invasions of Biesel for interstellar-wide affairs, while region-specific events such as the Peacekeeper Mandate, The Titan Rises or even Cold Dawn may impact your character. (1 paragraph minimum) One could argue that the phoron scarcity has affected RMR quite badly, with the heightening of prices and even being a catalyst of violet dawn which caused Mars's apocalyptic circumstances, melting their entire existence to slag. The solarian invasion of Biesel and the solarian collapse both had a minimal impact on RMR however considering they were still in the scrapheaps of mars at the time. How does your character view the megacorporation they work for? RMR views Orion Express in a generally neutral light, it believes that the corporation’s practices regarding positronic labour is much fairer than other megacorps and thinks their pay-level is satisfactory, though it also sees the quality of the IPCs they produce and how even essential aspects of the chassis tend to be cut out to meet deadlines, though it is not particularly empathetic regarding it. The Stryker Posted June 23 Posted June 23 Hi, thanks for applying. I have some questions for the application. Why is joining Trinary Perfection considered a mad action? How might an IPC rationalize joining the movement? Who was in charge of naming Rejuvenation of Melted Rust? It doesn't fall in line with typical human naming conventions. Why would RMR have to go around trying to replace its batteries? Wouldn't it be better if it could just try to find a place to charge? When did the IAC pick RMR up? Why would the IAC drop RMR off at the Trinary Perfection instead of trying to find an owner, or even seizing the IPC themselves to help them with their work? Why did RMR develop Exclusionist views? Why would RMR go back to Mars then back to Reade again, even if it meant employment, after the experience of Violet Dawn? Why not just continue working on Reade or with the diona?

I'm sorry, I don't see where it is said to be a mad action in my application, however, the latter question is one I can answer in two parts. Let's take a young IPC which is free for whatever reason, perhaps a nice owner or the trinary perfection purchased it, they have a few reasons in one to join it because one, the trinary perfection offers repair facilities assumedly more cheap than most or even free, it offers a source of charity and also allows it a source of allies for any other goals it might have, within reason, obviously this is not a give only relationship but we will ignore that part of the relationship between the IPC and the church. A older IPC might have a few more less self-preservation based reasons than the younger IPC, like actually believing in the idea of ascension for one reason or another, perhaps it got saved on the brink of death, or maybe it simply wants to gain the assistance of trinarists from joining the movement, it can rationalise it in many ways, so yea. 9 hours ago, The Stryker said: Who was in charge of naming Rejuvenation of Melted Rust? It doesn't fall in line with typical human naming conventions. Rejuvenation of Melted Rust is a designation that RMR decided to pick up itself during it's time within district 11, partly to shed the past of it's work in mars/time being a scrapper, though obviously it still retains that aspect it is more of a self-given thing which could be seen as a aspect of showing it's growth from it's time existing, as well as a bit of.. social imprinting? I am not sure if it is the right word but it works for the situation at hand. OOCly however, I wanted to put further empathises on their time with the Dionae as it was a core aspect of my idea for the application, though I could have focused further in on that, as well as it just being a cool name. 9 hours ago, The Stryker said: Why would RMR have to go around trying to replace its batteries? Wouldn't it be better if it could just try to find a place to charge? When did the IAC pick RMR up? Why would the IAC drop RMR off at the Trinary Perfection instead of trying to find an owner, or even seizing the IPC themselves to help them with their work? Okay, this is a few questions so I will need to be piecing it apart a bit, firstly the scrapheap assumedly wouldn't have all that many charging ports, it is a massive few hundred year old many kilometres spanning trash dump where most people don't even go and didn't know they were all these IPCs there until Violet Dawn, if you require proof I provide the following page's mars section: https://wiki.aurorastation.org/index.php?title=Scrappers It is also easy to argue they wouldn't be many batteries, but you need to take some suspension of disbelief to believe any scrappers exist there in the first place. Secondly, they were picked up around 2465 roughly enough, I am intentionally keeping the timeline a bit vague to allow some leeway though I can see why some clarification is needed, regarding the dropping off at the trinary perfection or finding a owner, I was simply trying to follow the wiki's logic regarding it, where those that do not join the legion or sell themselves to Nanotrasen, which RMR did not because it preferred freedom and I didn't have the room to fit in the Diona stuff and Nanotrasen or being apart of the foreign legion and the horizon so it was the main option for them to deny both. However the idea that IAC would seize the IPC themselves is actually quite a good thing to point out, I did not consider something akin to that due to IAC being a charity organisation, it is simply something that didn't happen in this example, either because they believed that the damage was too severe to be worth it, they didn't want to expend the effort, or simply being a charitable organisation. 9 hours ago, The Stryker said: Why did RMR develop Exclusionist views? I would not say they outright developed exclusionist views, however it is a good question I suppose since I didn't explain it in the whitelist itself, it is primarily due to being thrown out, and living in a scrapheap for around uh, 20 years? yea twenty years and then your entire existence burns up in a artificial phoron fire CAUSED by humanity, while I know that IPCs are inherently logical beings they have opinions and sometimes don't fully consider everything I would assume, things slip through the cracks, and Sol is all they really knew of humanity, not exactly a friendly place to live for a IPC being owned and all, so their initial opinions of humanity was widely negative enough that it would be reasonable for the church to assume they are not a good choice to let in their church in my opinion, this mellowed out eventually with their time in district 11 to be clear, they do not hold a outright positive view of exclusionists at this time though they still retain understandable grudges I would presume but not enough that they would outright join a exclusionist sect of the trinarist faith without some sort of push. 9 hours ago, The Stryker said: Why would RMR go back to Mars then back to Reade again, even if it meant employment, after the experience of Violet Dawn? Why not just continue working on Reade or with the diona? Lastly, this is the question I don't get at all, RMR did not go back to Mars after going to Tau Ceti, they stayed within the system until now, however I do understand the question about continuing work with the Diona or Reade, to be clear they were promoted out of Reade, though I can see why this could be a plot issue and personally I would prefer to expand on it eventually, I just didn't have much leeway in terms of years since violet dawn is such a recent event, the work with Synthetic Adherent while beneficial in terms of their rights and such, is kind of illegal I assume, and also not well-paid enough to live a satisfactory life, which is why they aimed to start working with Orion.
Arbiter_Ambrose Posted June 23 Author Posted June 23 Sorry if my replies were a bit snappy and the like, I accidently deleted my initial answers and had to redo it and this is just, generally how I answer stuff somtimes. ;-;
Arbiter_Ambrose Posted June 24 Author Posted June 24 Ah, on further reading and assistance from a friend's keen eye I have seen what the On 23/06/2025 at 11:12, The Stryker said: Why is joining Trinary Perfection considered a mad action? Question is about, sorry that is just a example I decided to use, since religion is not something I could see IPCs en mass believe in, especially when in some cases it can give a decent bit of social stigma even among other IPCs though I think it has more benefits than downsides personally, kind of like becoming a merchant in the golden deep, you are risking your entire livelihood but they are a fair bit of benefits for being in the great game.
The Stryker Posted June 26 Posted June 26 Hi, after reviewing the questions I have some follow-ups. Did RMR have a factory designation? Part of my initial concern with the application was that the timing seemed off (like it was given at the factory). Does RMR express their Exclusionist views openly? Who replaced RMR's battery when it was still on Mars? You raise a valid point with a lack of chargers versus batteries but IPCs are modular enough to take power from something like an APC for instance. This opens a can of worms narratively as it involves more people in the process of keeping RMR alive. As for my question regarding Reade, my concern from a narrative standpoint is that after leaving Mars, going to District 11, what was so lucrative about Mars that they had to go back to it to make money, and then go back to Biesel for the residency card, and then go to Reade?
Arbiter_Ambrose Posted June 26 Author Posted June 26 1 hour ago, The Stryker said: Did RMR have a factory designation? Yes, XIM-RCC192 is their original designation. 1 hour ago, The Stryker said: Does RMR express their Exclusionist views openly? RMR does not have strong Pro-Exclusionist beliefs at the moment and does not openly display them no, to do so in a corporate environment would practically be a death sentence due to it's recognition by many factions as a terrorist organisation, though if given enough motivation it is possible they would take the side of a exclusionist ship or the organisation as a whole, most of their strong views have weathered away by necessity of self preservation. 1 hour ago, The Stryker said: Who replaced RMR's battery when it was still on Mars? As we discussed in DMs, I think this can be retconned to take charge from the batteries themselves rather than replacing them directly, or utilising a jury-rigged charger, thank you for asking this question. 1 hour ago, The Stryker said: As for my question regarding Reade, my concern from a narrative standpoint is that after leaving Mars, going to District 11, what was so lucrative about Mars that they had to go back to it to make money, and then go back to Biesel for the residency card, and then go to Reade? It is beneficial that we cleared up that it was simply a metaphor utilising DMs, thank you for discussing this with me. I hope you will find my answers satisfactory and accept my whitelist.
