Character names: Machinist Rejuvenation Of Melted Rust, Cadet Ayden Reiten, Officer I-17-Cuth-sithe

Species you are applying to play: Tajara

------------------------------

General Whitelist Requirements

What colour do you plan on making your first alien character?: Taupe

Have you read the lore pages for the species you wish to be whitelisted for?: Yes, I have read the NKA pages, PRA pages, some of the DPRA pages, and the Tajara religion pages along with other similar pages aswell as many articles, I have worked to incorporate some of that into my whitelist.

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question.

Why do you wish to play this species?: I personally quite enjoy the ideas presented by a more technologically young and rapidly advancing species, it is struggling to adapt to this new realm with the conflicts of the first revolution and the second one having just finished recently, I also think their species race class conflict is, in passing, atleast interesting surface level.

I also REALLY like the religions which are a part of tajaran culture, it feels a bit more organic than most we have and I could see an actual person believing in it.

What makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a human?: Well, there is a few standouts such as the second perspective in how they talk, though I personally think it is a relatively minor albeit front facing aspect of the species compared to the omnipresent race classism embedded in their species by the plutocracy and how this affects the character and their job opportunities as well as socialisation though this would not be as apparent to a human meeting a average tajaran given it is mostly a internal affair not as obvious as the body difference of vaurca or the apparent age of dionae. The political system also takes a large impact on how a tajaran might choose to act whereas for humans they are able to much more freely express opinions and are for the most part not at war with each other modern day.

Character Application

Character Name: Annissim Zima

Write a backstory for your character. This may include their origin, education, personality and how they arrived to the SCCV Horizon.

Zima was born 01/03/2441 to a Hharar family of three in the Nraz'i Basin, the family in question being highly indoctrinated in Hadiist ideologies as the extreme majority of the population is. This fostered a strong admiration and fascination between the hadiist party and Zima dedicated themselves primarily to the studies and school, working to become much like the Hadiis they admired, respected and well-learned.

They showed high promise in their younger years in high-school and college, being top of their classes and a loyal Hadiist, they soon became enamoured with Visionary Hadiism, the sleek promises of a future free from constraints bound by evolution and the plutocracy’s caste system, and a Adhomi united under the guiding hand of the People’s Republic destined to conquer the stars.

Unfortunately this did not exactly bare much fruit in future despite his efforts, even with their acceptance into the Hadii institute of orbital research in a degree for mechatronics in 2459, a great achievement in the eyes of their family and former peers, they were falling behind their peers and this was only further exacerbated by the death of their older sister, 19 at the time, in the second civil war a year prior.

He found it difficult to continue with the war continuing on and the death of their sister, however they managed to graduate 2464 within a hair's length allowing them the ability to find work in the field of robotics and took up work with Nanotrasen as a machinist to maintain their equipment.

He found themself working on the NTV Plover from 19/02/2464 to 10/02/2467, a freighter primarily working with IPCs produced by Nanotrasen and shipping them around the coalition and they were mainly tasked with maintaining the units in case of issues or giving repair to the IPC crew onboard the vessel, this time felt very much like a dead end being away from the PRA and their contact with their family minimal they eventually began to look for a new job, one that valued him.

Hephaestus Industries was a clear choice, offering higher wages and willing to take on anyone willing to work hard, Zima found it hard to resist when the offer to join Hephaestus Industries passed by him and soon after, he had put in their letter of resignation and was assigned to the horizon.

Zima’s personality could be described as eccentric in some ways, easily interested in one thing, and then the next, with only some things holding his attention for a long period, he has an interest in hadiist literature and aspire to write like them, however most of his writings do not amount to anything.

(2 paragraphs minimum)

How has the recent events of the Orion Spur impacted your character? Events such as the Phoron Scarcity, the Solarian Collapse or even the Invasions of Biesel for interstellar-wide affairs, while region-specific events such as the Peacekeeper Mandate, The Titan Rises or even Cold Dawn may impact your character.

(1 paragraph minimum)

He unlike their sister were allowed to stay studying in the PRA while their sister joined the war effort as their family could afford the fee for Zima’s draft, and their sister did well however, in 20/8/2458, their sister died in the siege of Ron’tul hit by a shell impacting near to them, and they were unable to receive medical attention in time.
This loss devastated Zima and almost cost them their graduation from the Hadii Institute of Orbital Research, however they managed to push on, although this event in specific did not directly effect Zima, it has influenced their ideas around war and has cemented their loyalty to Hadiism further.

How does your character view the megacorporation they work for?

(1 paragraph minimum) Zima at the moment views Hephaestus much more positively than other corporations, Nanotrasen in particular despite it’s strong connections to the PRA. They especially value the focus of robotics in Hephaestus industries, as they view robotics as a key aspect to the advancement of the Tajara and People’s Republic’s victory amongst the other nations.

Hi! Thank you for applying. Just a few questions I would like to ask regarding your character.

1. How does Annissim view the DPRA/ALA and NKA?

2. What religion (if any) does Annissim follow?

3. As mentioned, the death of Zima's sister had affected them insofar as their loyalty to Hadiism and their views on the war. Could you (briefly) expand on how they viewed the war?

Otherwise, you have a well put together application. I can't wait to see your answers!

Apologises for the wait, I have just noticed this and also got distracted along the way replying to it, I am really happy to hear you think that my application is otherwise well put together, it is actually the fastest I've finished one I think and one of my better ones as I like my IPC one though I feel my diona one, while showing a bit about how I know the lore doesn't really express my knowledge too well, but I am babbling on, to the answers, I hope this is alright, I have never really had to write the views of a character like this.

1. Annissm views the DPRA and it's ALA warlord complement as a corruption of Al'marii's legacy and a nation doomed to fail without the strong guidance of Hadiism though they are not particularly knowledgable on the principles and life that the DPRA and it's citizens follow, mainly having a perspective fed through Hadiist literature or TV.

Zima views the NKA as a return to before the revolution, and while they lack personal experience of such a era, they are quite confident in it's despicable qualities, and the greed of nobility is clear to them with the poverty and serfdom that is the NKA.

2. Annissim does not follow any religion unlike their parents, who are both S'rand'marr worshippers, he has never felt particularly attached to that aspect of his family's religious beliefs and believes that religion is yet another aspect holding Hadiism and the PRA back from the future of Adhomi due to their pacifistic ways and control over the populace, however they are not particularly as passionate regarding this point as to not upset their parents and reluctantly partakes in the Coming of Dawn each year.

3 The death of Zima's sister has effected their views on the war in many ways, one way to generalise this could be that Annisim views the war as a required means to a end like many Hadiists, but the death of their sister has made them hesitant to push this in the time they were grieving her death and even still now they are somewhat effected. They believe that warfare shifting from tajarans to machines may be a solution to this though costs currently would make such a concept implausible.

Thank you for the answers! I have a few more questions.

4. Could you expand on what you mean by this? It is a little unclear.

5. By this statement, do you mean just the family is indoctrinated or the whole basin region?

6. How does Annissm feel about life off Adhomai, and the way Tajara are treated abroad?

4. I am not strongly passionate for that aspect of the species but I do think it grasps on interesting topics, especially on the impacts of trying to control a population through eugenics going, atleast, somewhat wrong and how the plutocracy has effected the tajara even within their genetics, however I am not sure I think I can go in depth on such a concept despite thinking it is interesting and I understand this could be a potential issue. I am not very confident in my ability to play strongly racist or cats, something that the PRA lends me some benefit in a way due to their official stance of all being equal and all, though obviously this isn't the case and it is displayed multiple times through the class struggle of zhan and how M'sai are still mostly relegated to military jobs or atleast, take up a majority of it's numbers if I recall correctly though that might be hahrar because of their workers reputation, I am not sure where I am leading this but you get the expansion I hope.

5. The basin region, I will now go in depth to elaborate on this, in the regions page I quote the Basin's description 'Its inhabitants are considered to be the devout Hadiists; years of indoctrination and propaganda succeeded in creating a loyal population', I took this to mean as what I said in my whitelist that it means anyone from there would generally be heavily indoctrinated in party ideology and stuff, I hope this reason is justified.

6. Annissm has not particularly enjoyed their time away from Adhomi, it is overly warm and forces them to wear lighter clothing in many cases as well as general inhospitable locals (though they spent a majority of time in a non-front-facing role so interaction was for them, thankfully minimal) and the lack of amenities the PRA would otherwise have, though offworld comes with some benefits in that regard they wouldn't feel such is quite worth the trade off. One thing that keeps them offworld however is the pay, their time in the institute did not come cheap nor did their draft dodge and they are working to repay this debt to their parents though it is not exactly a formal one.

Regarding the treatment of Tajara in general abroad, is a more contentious topic for Zima, they aren't quite sure how to think about it given Hadiist policies approve of xenos and megacorporations, though their treatment is at times, lacking in comparison to humanity, with lower wages and the solarian tajara bans as prime examples.
