Bolbos Posted September 1 Posted September 1 Does anyone else think that Heavy Armor just feels too good? like it has virtually no weaknesses because it offers all-around good protection with no downsides when compared to other armor-types like Ballistic, Riot and Ablative all of which have weaknesses however they excel in protecting against whatever they specialize in and yet Heavy Armor has all-around protection while only protecting like 10 or 15 percent less (don't remember the exact numbers). And my biggest gripe with it personally, is that it just makes Corporate Armor pointless, what's the point of wearing Corporate Armor when you have access to Heavy Armor which is better in every way (both are meant to provide all-around protection) so it just makes Corporate Armor irrelevant. Anyways, this is just my opinion, there is probably a reason why it's like this so I'm kinda curious on hearing what you guys have to say about it. 1 Quote

Assuming you mean the plates sec officers start with: escalation. In theory, the heavier armour should not be issued without good reason, and the starting plate with rubber bullets or stun carbines should be a reasonable response to some milder threats. Quote
UltraNumeron Posted September 1 Posted September 1 Should be noted our armor formula is a bit funky and what appears as those few percent do alot more work than they appear to, making those specialized armors significantly better against their respective threat, and that there are only two heavy suits in the armory. Though I do kind of agree that the whole thing of specialized armor is a bit eh, compared to just good all-rounder armor being used, even if they are pretty balanced. Quote
OffRoad99 Posted September 1 Posted September 1 Regular armor is speedy and offers discreet protection. Heavy armor is SLOW but offers more protection. That's the trade-off. Quote

It's supposed to put a bit more pressure onto security, who have a variety of very situational gear and in theory access to infinite heals through medical. Quote

I don't just mean the plates sec officers start with, I meant all the armor-vests with the same protection values as the Corporate ones, I just used the Corporate one as an example cause they're the most common ones (not including voidsuits) That is a good point though. 22 hours ago, UltraNumeron said: Should be noted our armor formula is a bit funky and what appears as those few percent do alot more work than they appear to, making those specialized armors significantly better against their respective threat, and that there are only two heavy suits in the armory. Ah, I thought there wasn't that much difference between Heavy armor and ballistic armor. I do think all-rounder armor would work better if it was just decent protection instead, or if it gets a significant movement speed reduction. 22 hours ago, OffRoad99 said: Regular armor is speedy and offers discreet protection. Not sure but I personally haven't noticed a difference in walkspeed between both Regular and Heavy. 19 hours ago, Loorey said: It's intended that mercenaries / antagonists in general have a bit better gear (like the Heavy Armor set and 7.62 as a caliber), as they are (usually) at a very big disadvantage against security when it actually comes to fighting. Yeah that is a good point, I agree with that since security's arsenal is pretty varied when compared to antagonists that use ballistics most of the time. Looking back at it now, I don't think Heavy armor is actually as bad as I thought it was. Quote
