Arbiter_Ambrose Posted October 7 Posted October 7 (edited) BYOND Ckey: Arbiter Ambrose Discord username: master_ambrose Character names: Engineer G1-HIBS6-SYW12, Assistant Tinv, Machinist Annissim Zima, Xenobiologist Hesychios Spyrou, Scientist Distant Memories of Night Wishes Iced Species you are applying to play: Vaurca ------------------------------ General Whitelist Requirements What colour do you plan on making your first alien character?: (IPCs exempt) 20,20,55 of the Vytel Unbound Have you read the lore pages for the species you wish to be whitelisted for?: Yes, I have read all of the Vaurca Lore pages relevant to this whitelist and some more, though some may be skimmed just a little I am confident in my ability to answer any questions pertaining to the lore aspect of vaurca. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this species?: I believe Vaurca is a very interesting species that is interconnected in ways they could be compared to dionae which is another species I quite enjoy, them being Eusocial and their everloyal tendencies to their Hive and Queen are a dynamic that other species do not possess in the same way, and they are a what I presume atleast nice and welcoming community and I really want to engage in vaurca lore more than I have with my assistant Tinv. What makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a human?: Vaurcae can easily be compared to ants or termites with their eusocial nature and they display this further by using that nature to display their feelings such as chittering and clacking their mandibles for an example, and unlike humans they primarily convey feelings in a much more abstract way through hivenet directly conveying it to their fellow Vaurca in a much more visceral or definitive way than simple words would convey. Vaurcae also have much decided for them both from the hive and their overlord state, and these can effect them drastically both biologically and mentally and can dictate if they are a Za, Ka, and if they serve icecream at a rollercoaster or work as a Eridani merc. ------------------------------ Character Application Character Name: Ka’Akaix’Lliz C’thur Write a backstory for your character. This may include their origin, education, personality and how they arrived to the SCCV Horizon. (2 paragraphs minimum) Lliz was laid in late 2465 to the Vytel brood as apart of a project aiming to utilise the history of peacekeeping and diplomacy of the brood in human psychology as another avenue of influence, and so Lliz entered virtual reality and began what could be considered it’s learning years, their Imagotis providing the proper instructions for the future. Lliz was taught over the course of twelve dilated years what duties it would be, how to minimise it’s insectoid nature offputting humans, what is expected of a typical Vytel broodmember and what is required of a psychologist allowing them to grow into a at least in theory excellent psychologist. Lliz was somewhat morose to leave virtual reality as it would miss subrealms such as the Bazaar of Curiosity which they enjoyed looking into and the many reality gardens, though eager to put to work it’s now extensive knowledge and they matured, leaving virtual reality to put their learning to the test. Fortunately for Lliz, the interview in order to gain citizenship was not an issue for them given their extensive training and brood’s general attitudes, much less fortunately however was the project’s circumstances which given the population of humans in Diulszi and the federation in general being quite poor it did not garner much success though the project was not a failure in totality so the vaurcae born from it, such as Lliz would be able to be repurposed in a different way which satisfied Lliz from the unfortunate feelings that came with the project’s failure bouncing onto them and their fellow kin. Lliz looked to the Ve’katak Phalanx for that repurposing promptly being assigned to a psychologist position at a SCC facility in need during 2467 which so happened to be the horizon roughly prior to it’s venture into uncharted space. How has the recent events of the Orion Spur impacted your character? Events such as the Phoron Scarcity, the Solarian Collapse or even the Invasions of Biesel for interstellar-wide affairs, while region-specific events such as the Peacekeeper Mandate, The Titan Rises or even Cold Dawn may impact your character. (1 paragraph minimum) While there is a lack of things that have impacted Lliz directly, the ever-looming Phoron Scarity that is above not just the vaurcese war-machines and the continued expansion of the hives but the entire spur’s technology would be an exception to this, Lliz holds a hopeful outlook and tries not to concern itself with the matter if possible. The Caretaker assignments to the hivecells has minimally impacted Lliz, due to it being from Vytel, a brood known for their more pro-federation outlooks and not being particularly a focus of concern due to there being much worse performing hivecells in the area. The Court Of Queens Arc has not been of great effect to Lliz until recently given it was only recently a part of the Phalanx but what Lliz sees like many do theft of the bulwark Caste even if it was not alive for it has shed it’s opinions of the Zo’ra in a negative light. How does your character view the megacorporation they work for? (1 paragraph minimum) Lliz is rather new to the phalanx, however they have built up a few opinions on it and the aspect that they have joined it as, primarily being that it is thankful for it’s ability to contribute a source of work for many warriors and unbound in need of one, the matter of human hivenet integration however is a murky one for Lliz given their age and they are standoffish of the concept even with it being rather primitive as of now though it is hopeful to receive much due to the mental troubles that the integration gives humans and other non-vaurcae. The Megacorporations of the spur in general however are something Lliz has near to no experience with excluding perhaps zeng-hu which provided much data that Lliz learned from and as such Lliz views them in quite a positive light given they also collaborate strongly with the C’thur hive. Connorjg1 Posted October 12 Posted October 12 Hi! Thanks for your application. Just a couple questions: How does Lliz view the Zo'ra and K'lax? You touched on it briefly but how does Lliz view humanity and the other species of the spur? What does Lliz think of the position of Vaurca in the Spur? Does their training as a psychologist impact it? 1
Arbiter_Ambrose Posted October 13 Author Posted October 13 Of course, thank you for the questions! 2 hours ago, Connorjg1 said: How does Lliz view the Zo'ra and K'lax? Lliz views the Zo'ra in a primarily negative light despite their historically positive relations as a hive until recent events, this can be correlated with many things that the Zo'ra hive has done as of late such as their theft of the type E class, the prevalence of criminal queenless which Lliz views as not only a waste to contribute further to the queenless Hivecells but also a disservice to the society they have embedded in. In regards to K'lax, their view is somewhat more positive despite certain accusations that are rather prevalent such as C'thur stealing their Hiveship, though Lliz would not say they are found of the K'lax given the Xathul Xon and the civil war, the voiding aspect of it being one of the most distasteful aspect of it. 4 hours ago, Connorjg1 said: You touched on it briefly but how does Lliz view humanity and the other species of the spur? Lliz has only interacted with skrell and (sparingly in comparison) humans as of prior to arriving on the Horizon, and thus mostly views the other species in a curious and what will hopefully be a positive intrigue if they have a client of a non-human/skrell variety. Regarding humanity Lliz views them as a very disorganised species riddled with a lack of focus, and somewhat views themselves as a means to give that focus and organisation somewhat looking down on humanity, Skrell however are a species Lliz has a somewhat higher internal respect for considering the similarities of skrell and vaurcae's group mindsets aswell as their species being similarly long-storied in history. 13 hours ago, Connorjg1 said: What does Lliz think of the position of Vaurca in the Spur? Does their training as a psychologist impact it? Lliz is rather optimistic, vaurcae have grown footholds in their new environment and although they were not born in the past prior to this they are well aware of the turmoil went through to come here. Lliz is above all else strongly confident in C'thur's ability as a hive compared to the others however. One could say that Lliz is somewhat more considerate of the erratic behaviours of humanity and the edgepoints their client-states are on in some respects due to their training in psychology.
