OffRoad99 Posted February 6 Posted February 6 BYOND key: OffRoad99 Discord Username: RunningWithRazors Character names: How long have you been playing on Aurora? Honestly I have no idea. According to my forum profile, I've been playing on Aurora since November 15, 2018, perhaps a month or two earlier than that. Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? None. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame? A Head of Staff is, first and foremost, a coordinator. It should promote RP whenever possible, without suffocating other roleplay avenues. It should smoothen the round for the members of their department and facilitate inter-department cooperation. Given the high importance entrusted to each Command role, this shouldn't be overlooked: while you have a department to oversee, you are also actively collaborating with the other Heads of Staff. Being negligent also risks affecting their performance, both ICLY and OOCly. As a leader, a Head of Staff should be also ready to assist the members of their department and lead in a way that gives them freedom and enough guidance to maintain cohesion and communication. A Head of Staff character should also lead by example: this is particularly important for new players, as their first impressions on the server may heavily be influenced by your performance. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them? Some of these answers may overlap with what I've typed above. I think the status of a whitelist player helps to uphold a certain RP standard, both in-round and out-of-round. A whitelisted player should be approachable and forthcoming, with an extra eye of care towards new players. You’re entrusted with a role and status that can shape the round, for better or worse, and ultimately you are there to improve the experience of others and foster a pleasant environment. The whitelist entails a certain level of trust in you by the staff team, and holding it means that other players may (and should) view you as an example to follow. Explain how the recent events in the Spur changed your character and how they came to be employed on the SCCV Horizon. Allison’s first steps in the private sector happened out of necessity: the death of her husband led her being honorably discharged from the Solarian Navy and her termination of her much-coveted status as a pilot. After a two-years hiatus of heavy psychological counsel, she was in need of a job. Her first ingress in the corporate world led her to NanoTrasen’s private security wing as a rank-and-file security officer. She graduated from the New Seoul Combat Training Centre with average scores and, in 2462, was assigned to the NSS Aurora. Her first year was quiet and unremarkable, with the most prominent traits highlighting her as an approachable and polite officer. Allison’s first steps on the SCCV Horizon happened long before its official first voyage. She was among the first to walk on its second deck during a guided tour. As one of the most prestigious SCC vessels, she quickly applied for a transfer following the decommissioning of the NSS Aurora. As she acclimated to new demands and benefits of her contract under Eagle Corp, her new employment led her to being rotated fairly frequently from the SCCV Horizon to other postings. This period of time also saw a brief revival of her flight career: she was in the skies of Mictlan, transporting PMCG troops during the bloody days of the Peacekeeping Mandate in 2463. Her steady return to the SSCV Horizon is a recent occurrence that took place around the final months of 2467. Shortly after her return, the SCCV Horizon embarked a long journey through the Crescent Expanse. And there it remained stranded for many weeks. The crew constantly struggled with resource shortages and isolation, but it also encountered allies and opportunities to interact with other factions, such as Purpose! The ship has recently returned from that ordeal and its crew is currently acclimating themselves with the latest geopolitical developments and instabilities, chief among them the tensions between Elyra and the rest of the Spur. To Allison however, all this is a tertiary concern. At the dawn of the Crescent Expanse arc, Allison was one of the two Security officers deployed to cover the Horizon-crewed expedition tasked with disabling a Bluespace tracking beacon in the depths of space. The expedition quickly discovered that pirates were already occupying the beacon. A vicious firefight ensued, during which she was struck six times in the chest by a large-caliber rifle. She felt blood flood her helmet, air and pressure leaking as the bullets tore holes through her voidsuit and into her skin. The vacuum embraced her as she collapsed into certain death. Or so it would have been, if it weren’t for the incredible skills of the paramedics Vera Lockheart and Nathaniel Schofield. The rest, she doesn’t remember. She underwent long surgeries to simply wrestle her out of Death’s grasp. Six bullets and the vacuum of space resulted in significant injuries, and it was determined that her heart and lungs were too damaged to be mended. As permitted by her SCC Contractor Insurance Package, replacement cybernetic organs were grafted. A drug-induced coma was deemed necessary for the entirety of the recovery, which lasted for an entire month. Full cardiac and respiratory life support were her lifeline for the first two weeks while her new organs were accepted into her body. The next two months were more cohesive. She was awoken from her coma. She recognized faces and expressed her gratitude. Over time she was able to return to old habits that were once taken for granted: eating, listening to music, reading. She could think, even with the never-ending streams of medications fed intravenously leaving her drowsy and sluggish. She felt gratitude for the people who saved her and came to talk to her. She also felt the gnawing sensation of failure and the aching of the many scars that marred her complexion. Her faith in God was reinvigorated and she thanked him with every fiber of her being. Her health was ruined, she felt weak. Half-dead. A feeling that she still quietly harbors to this day: her chest no longer moves when she inhales, her heart-beat is absent. Then it was the turn of the materialistic worries: she quickly and immediately assessed that cosmetic surgery was the first thing she would've paid for. Then comes specialist care, cybernetics maintenance, medical supervision, prescriptions, none of which come cheap. Then it was the matter of straightening the incident out with her supervisor, to explain everything to the few friends she had left back home and to inform her parents. She remained a regular presence in the Medbay Recovery Ward and continued her physiotherapy. As healing progressed, the focus shifted to regaining strength, mobility, and coordination. This includes tailored therapeutic exercises, balance training, and functional retraining. Next came the required physical and psychological evaluations needed to get back to work. She met them with grim resolve and a hunger of credits, all courtesy of the Internship she had to endure in Eridani. She barely passed. Now she’s recently returned to duty. She’s in her freshly issued replacement uniform and hides behind her usual, optimistic half-smile. The life-threatening experience pushes her to be more cautious. Coupled with her burning need of money, she dusted off her bachelor’s degree in Aviation and began considering a career-jump into a leadership-oriented role inside the SCC, which hopefully will take her out of direct field duties and most importantly, give her a considerable boost to her finances. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? Head of Security, for certain. At some point I kinda intend to play all of them, with rare exceptions. In the future I will likely create a Corporate Liaison of Hephaestus Industries. Have you familiarized yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? Yes. Allison also meets all the prerequisites. Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking: Allison Wilson, Head of Security Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Yes, I understand that. Have you linked your BYOND account to the Forums? Yes. Extra notes: My online presence on the Aurora Discord servers is close to zero, I hope that won't be a problem. 2

The_Ill_Fated Posted February 9 Posted February 9 Did a round as Consular with them as the Hos on shift. They came off as reasonable, made multiple efforts to allow gimmicks to develop in interesting directions, and overall did a good job! +1 1
JoeTheBro Posted February 9 Posted February 9 Played alongside them in command as my CE while they were playing their HOS. They had good communication with the rest of command for the whole round, and didn't steamroll any gimmicks from what I saw. Also I know Wilson as a long long time character and they've consistently been good at RP and being fair as a security officer, good fit for command. +1 1
StewardsCap Posted February 10 Posted February 10 Good Head of Security, knows how to escalate and works well with others. Not much experience with them personally but I think there a fine person, I like Courtier even if I rarely met them +1 1
veeqies Posted February 10 Posted February 10 Played a merc round with Wilson, had a bunch of good interactions with them; maintained communications and has kept command aware of what was going on throughout the round, allowed for the mercs to have RP without killing the gimmick. I'm sure they'll look great in more command positions as times goes on, definitely a +1 from me 1
Rookie Eyes Posted February 11 Posted February 11 +1 Across a few rounds now I've played my warden with Wilson as HoS - I think they've got a good grasp of communicating with their department and keep a cool head when it comes to addressing antags. 1
FabianK3 Posted February 12 Posted February 12 Observed a couple of rounds of them playing and I think they are more then suited for the role. They know their department in-and-out, attempt to include everyone in it and don't hesitate to teach new comers personally. Even during a couple of more then chaotic antag rounds they kept their head above water, gave the antags a lot of room to let the gimmick unfold while still maintaining their composure as commander. I think OffRoad will be a great addition to the WL. +1 1
