GlamourChariot Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 BYOND Key: GlamourChariot Character name: Shizuo Orihara Item name: Orihara's Balisong Why is your character carrying said item to work? He fancies himself a "cool guy", maintaining skills in far out of date areas such as hand to hand combat and use of bladed weaponry as a way to show off. Given his flare for the fancy, a balisong perfectly fits the bill as an item to display both his fighting prowess and thirst to represent how "badass" he is with unnecessary, though aesthetically pleasing, manoeuvres. Given his role as a bartender, having an item of interest to carry to work would enhance his ability to entertain those on break. Imagine having a drink fancifully served, only for the show to continue as you drink with the bartender flipping a stunt knife with a nearly unreal display of careless precision. The knife would, of course, be absolutely blunted and basically useless as a weapon. Weapons aren't allowed on station. Would prefer, if it did any damage when hitting someone, to deal brute damage so comically low that you'd be better off going bare handed. People wouldn't know this, though, and it could still be used for intimidation should it ever be necessary. This would promote RP by way of him only being capable of using it as a tool of fear rather than posing a real threat. Item function(s): Having the knife in your hand and clicking on it would flick it open, with stylish flavour text posted into chat and a faint clicking noise, much like how the Zippo Lighter works. Clicking on it again when it is open will close it, with flavour text and a noise. With but a flashy twirl of their fingers, [Name] flicks open the balisong. Without even looking, [Name] casually flicks the balisong closed. For the audible aspect I'd suggest reusing the noise for the telebaton. Item description: A small, black butterfly knife with comfortable handles and a mean looking blade. Perfect for dangerous towns where being stylish is just as important as being deadly. Item appearance: As described. Additional comments: Nada
Guest Menown Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 Here's what I'm gonna do. I'm going to make it a telebaton. That gives it a perfect action+sound already. But, I'm going to change the action's words and such, to make it less telebatony. I'll be changing the force as well, to dull it. Maybe even give it some of my punny attack verbs. The issue, however, is that there will be basically a knife, that has been illegal in a large portion of our world aboard the station. I could code a permit at the same time for this purpose, as it'll be a stun knife. I'll wait until I get Skull's opinion on the matter until further, and as such I'm giving this my +1.

Mh, this was a concern. I've tried twice so far to ask Skull about whether having a blunted knife that's useless in combat would be okay, both times he disappeared as I asked. Kinda just threw this up because at least if he saw it he could shoot it down himself.
Skull132 Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Next time, Glamour, chuck a forumPM at my face. Also, a blunted knife wouldn't be any more useful than a screwdriver, so that's how it's going to land in the code. Otherwise, will be pushed into production.
Skull132 Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 Item added, spawn code present. If issues arise, please contact myself over the forums.
