Slc97 Head Whitelist Application

Recommended Posts

How long have you been playing on Aurora?:About 2 months now.

Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I played captain, CMO, HOS, and HOP on another server for about 2 or 3 years. I got very good at them and have experience with the positions. Also, I like to think that my character, Jack, has a lot of leadership qualities that gear towards head positions.

Why did you come to Aurora?: I used to play on Walter00's old full roleplay station but it shut down and I heard Aurora was good for roleplay. Since I prefer heavy roleplay I decided to come here. Have definitely been happy with that decision.

Have you read the BS12 wiki on the head roles you plan on playing?: Every single word multiple times.

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each.

Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay is about envelopment. It's all about fully becoming an entirely different purpose. I've been playing Jack Sayek for two years now at least and he's become so immersive that he's a part of me now. Roleplaying should never involve anything outside of the character in my mind. Roleplay has always been to me about the story and that's all it should ever be about. It should be about creating an immersive character that everyone can enjoy.

What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: Out of character, a Head of Staff should be an aspiration. You wanna get good enough and play long enough to figure out exactly the way to adapt your character to that role. In character a Head of Staff should be a well-versed character that knows their field fully and doesn't abuse the power of that position. They should always be more about the station and the people on it than themselves. It's more of a general welfare role that the player has to adapt to than something you can just jump into.

What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: I think the responsibilities of OOC whitelisted players to other players is to set an example. Be an example for what a roleplayer should be and on how to keep a nice and cordial server. My way to contribute this, share my 2 or 3 years of experience roleplaying with any one who needs it. I hate fighting anyway, so I wouldn't want to be starting fights in OOC, I would wanna keep the server cordial.

Please pick one of your characters for this section, and provide well articulated responses to the following questions.

Character name: Jack Sayek

Character age: 47

Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs): Jack is one of the hard on the outside but soft on the inside types. he doesn't usually let many people close because of how many people he's lost. When he was younger he lived on a colony where he lived with his wife and son as the colony's doctor. His colony was eventually attacked by unknown raiders the likes of which had never been seen before. Jack led a small militia group in the colony's defense, but the swift capabilities of the raiders were too powerful for the small militia. Jack was able to help hold off the raiders until an escape shuttle was arranged. Unfortunately, his efforts were met with misfortune as he found his wife and son slaughtered in his medical tent by the raiders. In hysterics, Jack was dragged to the escape shuttle as the colony was lost to the raiders. Eventually, the shuttle was picked up by a NanoTransen station where he began medical work and started dabbling in forensics.

Jack is supportive of NT due to their help in him getting his life back together after the colony. He eventually kicked a Tramadol addiction. He eventually was brought onto stations as a medical professional. He has never gotten close to a woman again after the loss of his wife. In his medical career he has often found himself reprising the role he served for his son. He treats the station like his son... only slightly verbally abusive.

What do you like about this character?: I like his complexity. I've been developing him over multiple servers for the last two or three years. He's gone small bits and pieces of myself in him that I'm proud of. I like that he is about the people and the job. One of my favorite things about Jack is the polar opposites of his actions and his intentions. He means to push most people away and stay as distant from them as possible, yet he would do whatever it took to protect people.

What do you dislike about this character?: I dislike the abrasive attitude that Jack often has and the fact that he really has little regard for his own life because he's already lost everything. Jack pushes people away and will only really get close to like one or two people because of his selfishly selfless nature.

What do you think makes this character fit to be a head of staff?: Essentially a head of staff should be there to help all of the station and the crew members of the station. Jack may be somewhat abrasive, but in the end he cares about everyone on the station. He wants everything and everyone to operate at its very best. Jack is the kind of person who will do whatever it takes. He has the experience, the credentials, all the qualifications, and the drive to do whatever is necessary for the good of the station.

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions.

How would you rate your own roleplaying?: Like I said, I've developed my character for 2 or 3 years. It's the only character I've used minus any ERT, Alien, AI, etc. characters, so I become fully immersed in my roleplaying. I would say I'm very good at it,

Jack is an interesting character. He's got a lot of layers that are genuinely interesting to unwrap and get to know. I have been on the receiving end of a bullet from the end of Jack's revolver before. He didn't just pull out his trusty side gun and blow my brains out, but rather had a well RPed discussion with my Nuke Op. At the end of said discussion I was dead. However, I really enjoyed the conversation the two had before hand.

Further on: I think that SLC would be great at RPing a tough but loving HoS. Although.. what HoS isn't tough loving? SLC makes sure that they RP out meaningful situations using emotes and sentences (wit gut grammah).

As a point of criticism: Try not to make your character too messed up. Everyone wants their character to be different, but focus more on the love and less on the tough. I need to work on this aspect myself.

Overall gut RP +1

I don't want to sound rude, but you mention "the war" in this character's backstory several times, can you clarify during what "the war" Sayek served?

only slightly verbally abusive

That just sounds like an another PTSD ex-marine security officer that fought in "the war".

He eventually was brought onto stations as a medical professional.

So, is he going to be a CMO? You didn't mention that he will, I think.

I changed the backstory to a raiding like it originally was when I made the character years ago. I had changed it to a war because I wanted some more vagueness. In reality, he was never a soldier as much as he was just a guy that got thrown into a fight he could never win.
