IPC becoming organic

So recently one of my characters got hit by a staff of change turning her from IPC to Tajaran. I thought it would be a cool idea if this could be made cannon so I created a Tajaran with the identity of my IPC (with a slightly altered name).

Obviously wizard rounds are non-cannon so with that thought in mind maybe my IPC who was looking for a way to become organic for a long time could meet a knowledgeable geneticist to grow her the new body and insert her brain into it using some way or another. (MMI into skull and then clone?)

Anyway this caused quite a stir and a few people were not happy about the sudden change from IPC to Tajaran which I can understand as the race would be misrepresented the same way if a human suddenly decided to become Tajaran.

My question is, can an IPC become organic again using some method or another in a lore friendly way?

For my character, human would be the original organic goal as her MMI originally came from one and with that in mind I assume if a MMI originally came form a Tajaran they could be a Tajaran organic again. However, she met a Tajaran and became very close, it would be only fitting that she would want to be a Tajaran herself and 'join' their race.

This isn't possible. I really don't feel I need to explain why we don't possess the same level of technology as wizards.

Surely you could create a protohuman stick a new brain in and clone? Or is the act of making an MMI voiding all organic ties the brain already had to the body?

It isnt possible mechanically to put an mmi or posi into a protohuman. The brain dies. Its not possible with established mechanics. This is also bordering into transhumanism and a talk with Jackfractual outlines the reason why this isn't possible.

Yeah, this isn't so much that it doesn't make sense, just that the implications of this technology being available would tip us over the border into straight-up transhumanism.

SS13 has always skated away from that kind of thing, preferring to more heavily reference star trek than, for example, Transhuman Space or Eclipse Phase.

We've gotten a whole lot closer to that lately, with the whole IPC/Shells dilly, but it's a pretty significant tonal shift if we go right over the edge.

Okay, I understand, that makes sense.

However back to my character, is there anyway I can pursue the same timeline be it a freak accident or whatever to end up with the same conclusion without the implications of a species whitelist strip? I mean I much prefer playing her as Tajaran than IPC but she would still have to remain the same 'person'.

Well, Retconning is a thing and nobody would blame you.

If the character in question didn't have such a large history I'd happily change her entire background. She has been through a lot of changes and to void all her past over one thing that is not possible seems like a waste. I'm not a big fan of reverting major changes in my characters but in this case it is called for.

When I was speaking to Tenenza which is what originally sparked this thread one of their responses was this:

"Secondary Admin PM from-Tenenza: It's been a while since I've seen anyone get a species whitelist strip, but I'd say you're flying rather close if Sue's responce is an indicator. I'd like to advice you try and backtrack a bit. You don't necessarily need to retcon, you could just say that the body didn't hold up well to extended neurological anti-rejection drugs. I dunno. You've got options."

I just find it a bit concerning that I might have faced a species whitelist strip just for doing something a little bit outlandish. As far as I was aware at the time this whole concept was a grey area.

This idea is awfully "special". You would be much better off retconning your character to the point that the miraculous feat of medical engineering/visitor from another land's gift/magical transformation/bluespace anomaly never happened.

Other themes may prove equally special, but can occasionally be done rather well. It could be a good idea to avoid such things or use them in moderation in order to make sure your work does not suffer. As you said, this character has "been through a lot of changes " already.

I don't think this thread is going to go in favor of the change. At this moment, approval of a sort of IPC to Organic Maneuver seems like wishful thinking to at least a few members of the community. Whatever the reason for this sudden change in your character, the transformation does not quite fit in with the universe or the community.

In the nicest way possible. Loow, you said everything I've been thinking. It's all amazingly snowflake to me. Just the fact that Kix has managed to afford all of these changes between body parts, is astounding, given the fact that such things are supposed to be expensive.

I'd say you're better off retconning, or something.

Am I missing something or... Kix had a posi brain, how is it possible to turn a posi brain in a normal brain with memories, etc...? It shouldn't work, logical wise.
