Can you give me a summary of this character's background? Where is he from, what's his status at home? I've heard a few different stories about the character and want to make sure I get it straight from the source. :)

Ames De La Fontaine, he is from Vonlandia a planet shrouded by bluespace and rich in plasma (It's slightly larger than earth) . The planet exists in a pseudo medieval era that is ruled as a monarchy, the whole planet itself lives in great harmony and peace as one nation ruled by King Vallant Fonce Amour who happens to be Ame's Father... which makes him a prince.

Ames came to NSS aurora (Also known as Exodus now) to become a hero and be known for his righteous good deeds! A path many brave Vonlandians take to transcend to one of the three levels. Unlike other Vonlandians Ames is easily succumbed to his desires and gets thrown off task which makes it hard to be a hero... One of his desires being his elegant beauty which urged him into becoming a model and deluding him from his objective, but like many other Oath takers of Vonland who chose to be heroes he has the uncanny will to do rash things and put his life before others and aid/help in any way he can, be it disobeying orders or giving his tank of oxygen to anyone in need.

Also on why he has pink hair... people of Vonland are metahumans (Excuse me for making more own lore... ignore the metahuman part if you want or just downright disregard this whole story... :geek: ) their hair color spans from pink, white, purple, and eye color being green, blue, brown.

I've only encountered Ames a few times. The ye olde english doesn't bother me as much as consistently space lubing the only two airlocks of the escape shuttle. Every. Goddamn. Time.

Upon reading the text, Bokaza pulls a huge tome out of a non-existant, multi-dimensional pocket between his sides and right wing. As he sets the book down, you can clearly see a title in capital letters 'CODEX AURORUM'. Due to lack of arms and fingers, he uses a combination of his cute tiny wings and his tiny steel claws to change pages. He stops to read a line quietly, then says:

Nope. Blue isn't a natural pigment in humans. Actual blue hair only happens due to silver poisoning. Even then, pink and purple is hardly possible. If we go by the way of genetic modification, it begs the question why someone would do something so heretical. Why not simply have it a cultural norm or simply popular, to dye your hair in these colors. There is literally nothing stopping from dying your hair to pink, white or purple except other than people labeling you a weirdo. Hell, it's not even that weird anymore.

Space Pilgrim trope. A bit overused lately, but whatever makes your character be a bit bigger snowflake than he actually is.

A medieval society? In 2458? Despite my shitty Warhammer reference, this isn't the 41st millenium. There was actually no time for a dark age of technology to happen. Worst case scenario, people you created are luddites, but still, a regression of this scale, on a planet probably hostile to human life, is unlikely.

A planet full of plasma represents several issues. If it was full of plasma and inhabited, most of the population wouldn't be living in peace and prosperity, they would be mining plasma either for NT or their beloved king.

A prince? Does NT know any of this? Why? Why not? Can I make a freedom fighter from your nation just to continiously attempt assasinations on your character?

You've actually inspired me to finally finish my humanity lore update I'm long overdue on.

Please do. You want to stop people making up shitty, snowflake backstories? Make it easier for them to find the information to help them create standard backstories.

Yeah, that backstory is pretty goddamn shite. VERY snowflakey. The idea of him talking in ye olde englishe just for the hell of it is more entertaining.

For the hair color thing... Bluespace

The original idea was genemodding but through a way I don't want to mention because you pretty much know I make bizzare... ideas...

He's not a pilgrim, he's just trying to prove himself a hero.

Most people on the planet is naturally good and they fall under one government, they're up to standard with current tech it's just that the style of their equipment is fantasy medieval like (Pure aesthetic) but they do possess their own unique artifacts...

On the plasma, they do mine it for the king but it's one nation no one is going to fight for it on the planet.

If you want to make a freedom fighter... go ahead, but being everyone on the planet is kind of cool with the king I see that highly unlikely.

Vonland isn't a very known planet... so NT doesn't know.

Wait, isn't metaphysical the guy that played that Seon chick who kept picking fights, and was banned until he could prove he could play more serious characters?

yes

So, their hair exists in a separate dimension, so it's blue? Genemodding actually makes more sense.

I'm sure he's making progress on Aurora.

This entire line of answers shows you have a very limited understanding of how human societies have functioned throughout the ages. Everyone is cool with kings and queens now because the roles themselves carry very little value. Ambitious men have always sought to destabilize the throne for no reason other than to sit on them.

What is humanity lore?

The history of humanity from present day 2016 to present day 2457. It's suppose to explain how the current state of affairs; Nations, empires, species, cultures, religions, etc. came to be.

I honestly don't like your planet. It's interesting for a setting that would allow for its existence, which isn't this one. The lore team works (somewhat) hard to hammer down what lore we already have, into a coherent whole that makes at least some sense.

Gahh, fuck it. If you can't understand why your insistence of this thing existing bothers me, there is really no need for me to continue rambling like an autistic owl on metamphetamines.

Fuck this shit, I'll just go back to writing space empires for myself to enjoy.

I really love how honest they are in not giving two shits about the established lore. It's a meme-dream come true, but horrifically spun out of context into something that's truly terrifying to behold.

My planet is nice....

The issue is, you cannot have a semi-normal character. They all have to be special in their own way. The NSS Aurora (Exodus) is just a station of regular people. No princes of some magical bluespace kingdom that is somehow unknown to Nanotrasen but they still hire them.

Another, thing. Isn't there a rule where you cannot play anyone of importance, (Kings, Princes, Nanotrasen Board)? Pretty sure that is something you cannot do.

When I allowed people to make their own planets without filling up the lore canonization subforum, I gave the policy that your background can be canon until it makes enough people go "WTF?" to be brought to my attention and included guidelines for every sphere of human space. Since that change, I haven't had any incidents, and this will be the first time I've had to explicitly rule on someone's backstory.

There's nothing wrong with having one or a few extraordinary aspects to someone's backstory or life. In our universe things can get rather whimsical, and I can let nearly anything pass if it shows it's consistent with the setting.

But Metaphysical, this lore you are making exceeds what is exceptional and has reached a point of being ridiculous.

Humans cannot live on a planet surrounded by Bluespace. I'm not sure what it would mean to have something surrounded by bluespace because it's another dimension. Being rich in plasma is fine; Elyra is rich in plasma. However, being rich in plasma immediately makes you a target for Nanotrasen. So your Prince would not be unknown, and your planet would also not be unknown. It would be undermined at every corner by Nanotrasen as they attempt to force their way into the system for corporate profit. You cannot have your cake and eat it too.

In addition, monarchies (and by extension any government) cannot be universally accepted or "considered good". There are always detractors, and on a planetary scale a lot of things slip through the cracks.

Being a member of the nobility isn't inherently something against you if played well, since I'm sure the 14th son of King Fartsa Lot doesn't expect to get on the throne so he goes out to get a day job at Space McDonalds, or the lofty titles are nothing more than ceremonial little titles, or the kingdom itself is so shitty that it's not even worth grooming the heir over. But if you want your character to be so important that he's direct in line to the throne... Why do they have a day job? The Queen of England was a car mechanic before she got on the throne and it was for patriotic reasons during a war. Why would a Prince work on the Aurora, in a foreign country, for a corporation that would very much like to see his plasma rich planet strip-mined?

You cannot have unnatural hair colors for your character because of genes or bluespace. Hair cannot be made to exist in a separate dimension so that it is a different color for reasons I hope I am not asked to elaborate on. Just dye his hair. Hair dye is not that expensive.

Metahumans are not a playable race on the station. Superhumans in our setting take the form of hulks, wizards, changelings, vampires, and cultists. You are not allowed to be any of these except hulk as a non-antag, and you are not allowed to be a hulk all the time.

You cannot expect to be treated any differently from the crew by playing an important character. Your character can be emperor of your faction, but if he boards the station as a chef then he is to be treated like all other crew. You cannot use your background to force your character to be treated differently. The only way you can be subject to special consideration is by joining as a "Visitor" and ensuring admins are aware that you are boarding as someone that isn't part of the crew and whom is a VIP.

You are going to have to make some serious changes to the background to this character and have serious considerations on fitting your writing to the setting of the Aurora to ensure it's consistent with our guidelines.

This is an official ruling. Please work on this.

If what you've wrote for your character here remains in force by yourself, and I keep hearing complaints about it, I will ask administration to step in.

I thought you didn't give two shits about lore.

???????? im the loremaster

not 1138

That being said, if I make his background more fitting can I make him a VIP character?

yes, only as a visitor.

if the admins don't mind because VIP's with the ability to possibly impact the round need their knowledge and/or consent. We learned this after I made a VIP impact the round without letting admins know and Dea wagged a finger.

This all just seems like a god-tier troll that got 5 pages worth of responses and forced the loremaster to make a ruling on something so inconsequential, rather than the community having enough sense to just ignore it, or report it, if he started being a turd about it.

That... is rude, and this is a honest character I am making.

I play with him in game, you can see him in the flesh (or the pixel)
