Redfield5
For my upcoming forum RP, 'Boadicea,' I am centering it on the maiden voyage of the NCV Boadicea, a cruise liner, as it travels through the Outer Colonies from its port of call in Mendell City. As I do not really know this particular lore subject too well, I'd appreciate some assistance from the Loredmins. Quote Link to comment
Gollee
I have a piece of paper somewhere outlining the angles, distances and ascensions between the inner 12 stars... Might be useful for the start at least. This had better not go titanic. Quote Link to comment

Gollee
If you get a load of stars (real ones), I taught myself astrogation so I can draw a course too. Quote Link to comment
Guest Marlon Phoenix
I'm not sure if you're specifically asking for specific courses for the journey or if you're asking for basic information on the outer colonies in general. If you're asking for specifics then I have no idea because astronomy isn't one of my strengths; Gollee and Rusty are fanatics for this sort of thing so they'll be able to help you out! I do have a description of each sphere of human space described in a sticky in the lore canonization subforum, so I'll quote that for you and we can see where we want to go from there! I will say that most stars far off are giving names like AU 818989834 or ISN 03327723412. So the lore team now tends to just handwave that the stars are renamed and given actual names like "Youngstown" or "Stella Novarius" or something without strictly describing which star it is in IRL galaxy that was renamed once colonized. If you want to avoid doing actual astronomy homework I don't think anyone would bat an eye if you just... Make up stars and have their distances sound feasible. Outer Colonies are the fringe of Alliance control. Often the only signs of the Alliance government even existing out here are a post office, tax collector, and rare Alliance cruiser that bluespace in whenever pirates start causing trouble - every other raid. With the economic troubles that frequently hit the Alliance, this sector is also the one most struggling financially. Want to be a grumbling Alliance citizen but whine about the useless government all the time? This is a perfect spot! Think of it like the rural farmland surrounding the total fringes of a cityscape, with the small towns and racist locals. Quote Link to comment
Gollee
Pick a bunch of stars within 3000 light years of earth (I think that's the max) and I can plot a correct course between them. Quote Link to comment
Redfield5
-snip- What I'm looking for is a list of systems or locations in the Outer Colonies, places for the Boadicea to head over to. Quote Link to comment

You know the outer colonies/frontier are kinda in the middle of a war right now right? Quote Link to comment

However, you can't say that the tourism has completely collapsed in the Outer Systems. Quote Link to comment
Gollee
Elyra New Ankara - Perspolis Jedeed Isfahan - Medina Cairo United - Bursa Serene Riyadh - Edirne Randoms I picked out with exoplanets that I can work with: Kepler-62e KOI-3010.01 Kepler-452b Kepler-298d Kepler-283c How many stops are you wanting? @Dea Considering the area of human space is 3000 Light Years, and there are a million stars within 1000 light years; I doubt the entire frontier, which would be about.... 9,500 light years in length, would all be at war. Dea Tacita
I was specifically referring to the Unathi going all jihad on the independent colonies in the frontier. That along with pirates being everywhere and the navies of the few frontier powers significant enough to have navies being busy with said Unathi/pirates. This just doesn't seem like an intelligent time for a cruise Quote Link to comment

This just doesn't seem like an intelligent time for a cruise I'm not going to reveal anything, though I believe that we should discuss the possibility of a "semi-safe" region in the area; i.e. the vast majority of the voyage is taking place in secure space. They made a call a few days ago (maybe 4 or 5) for the Elyran citizens who were able to, to come back to Elyra until the risk from the Unathi is over. Also if I remember correctly, they were going to close them entirely after a certain point (possible that I didn't note it in that exact post). I am not trying to stop this from happening but it probably isn't the best time, at least for what Jackboot calls the "Eastern Frontier" Quote Link to comment
Guest
I'm guessing that using NT shipping routes to travel would be safe enough, considering NT's far less pressed against the pirates and able to protect its assets. The good thing about the fronteer is that it is large enough to contain loads of virgin garden worlds and curiosities, something tourists would love to see. Quote Link to comment

Yeah, they technically don't even need to be from any of the minor factions. Just some pretty planets xD Would also make sense to use some NT routes. Not really sure how redfield is going to do this but he can just say that the ship is going to travel one of those. Quote Link to comment

I'll make up some fancy sight-seeing opportunities, and I've also got the storyline's foundation pretty much set. Quote Link to comment
