dallowallo
BYOND Key: ItsZion Character Names: Random names, usually Species you are applying to play: IPC - Machine Man What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I believe roleplaying as a machine is quite interesting, due to its limits, its comedic and serious capabilities, as well as its usefulness in such an rp environment Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Your behavior is bound much differently than a human's normal behavior. Much like a clown, you can feel free to make your machine's personality and programming more outlandish than usual human behavior (and that's where it gets fun for myself, and can allow fun for others!) Character Name: E.Module Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs E.Module (Entertainer Module) is a party machine built by a long gone corporation, that has been somehow dug up by Nanotrasen from its original storage on an abandoned station. This machine's pure purpose to existence is to ENTERTAIN by any means. A machine that is programmed to be giddy and cheerful at all times, it constantly expresses the good side of things, even in the worst of times! Entertainer Module usually is a bartender, serving up drinks to the public. But not only does it serve drinks to the public, it serves deliciously amazing jokes and riddles as well! Over 10,000 pre-installed jokes within its personality module! Being able to attend birthday parties, weddings, and funerals, it never fails to bring the laughs wherever it goes! Although this is true, some rare times E.Module has been seen 'glitching out' as its smiling screen turns into different (sometimes horrific looking) faces for short intervals, playing back mysterious recordings, turning on some of those who don't find its jokes funny, stalking some crew members for no apparent reason, and turning its own jokes and riddles, disturbingly morbid. Possibly the cost of being quite old, and filled with various 'bugs'. What do you like about this character? This character is meant for other characters in the station to have fun with. Saying jokes, dancing, and singing at the most awful and best of times (because it's programmed to be happy at all times). I believe this character would be a very nice spice of life into the station's community and personalities. The possibilities of this robot not only as a normal character, but as an antagonist are extensive as well. Turning from a lighthearted robot that tells jokes and entertains at parties, to a sinister killing machine, that could very well chop apart an entire room of people with a fire axe while saying puns, and jokes can make this character truly terrifying as an antagonist with the free bounds to do so. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I'd say a 9.5 Notes: I generally don't prefer being an antagonist as this character on other stations because I believe E.Module is pretty funny in general as a normal character that endures the usual catastrophic incidents that happen on the station. I can, however, really develop him as an antagonist when I do in fact roll as antag, because that's what I think makes an antagonist a good one. Link to comment
Killerhurtz
Hello! So, I've read through your application, and I'll be straight-up with you. You're giving off a REALLY bad vibe. No established character names to recognize you by, AND your IPC seems like the definition of chucklefuck / combat mode. It feels like you're basically doing to do dumb shit as a bartender until you feel like killing. Your note history seems to also confirm this suspicion - I will not go into detail, but I am... rather dubious. Want to drop in a few words? (At any rate, this is my feel on it. I'm leaving this open until Friday - try to advertise in OOC, once per round, to get people to vouch for you. I'm not going to go against the opinion of many people vouching for you) Link to comment
Nanako
i agree with killerhurtz, not having any established character makes it hard to recommend you. I'd say pick something, stick with it, and drop by medbay to hang out with nanako sometime. If you're nice to me, i'll vouch for you <3 Link to comment
Owen
Character Names: Random names, usually It helps GREATLY when you have established characters that people can base your application and roleplay off of. It is hard to make a decision when we only have your application to go off of. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I believe roleplaying as a machine is quite interesting, due to its limits, its comedic and serious capabilities, as well as its usefulness in such an rp environment There is no indication that you know anything about the IPC lore or have read their wiki page at all. In what way is it useful in an RP environment? What limits are you talking about? Go into detail on the comedic and serious capabilities. Remember, this is supposed to be a one paragraph minimum per question. These are at most 2 sentences. Not nearly enough to properly judge you. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Your behavior is bound much differently than a human's normal behavior. Much like a clown, you can feel free to make your machine's personality and programming more outlandish than usual human behavior (and that's where it gets fun for myself, and can allow fun for others!) You behavior is bound but you compare IPCs to a clown? I don't believe that this is a good way to think of IPCs. You can be SLIGHTLY more outlandish I suppose. But sometimes it harms your character more than it makes interesting roleplay. Can you describe how you hope to make this fun for yourself and others? Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs E.Module (Entertainer Module) is a party machine built by a long gone corporation, that has been somehow dug up by Nanotrasen from its original storage on an abandoned station. This machine's pure purpose to existence is to ENTERTAIN by any means. Possibly the cost of being quite old, and filled with various 'bugs'. This worries me. Greatly. It doesn't give any indication at all that you have any idea of what is expected by IPC players. It makes me worried as this backstory is very broad and gives off the vibe that you are going to just use this to be a chucklefuck. I don't see a reason why Nanotrasen would allow a VERY outdated IPC if we are to believe what your application says. Especially with how you describe how it acts. This makes me feel more like Nanotrasen would scrap it for a few extra bucks and make a better "Entertainment" unit. Finally, since you have no characters listed and with the state of your application. I would have to go with a -1 unless I see some serious changes to your application or prove to me that your are a good roleplayer. Link to comment
dallowallo
Re: All on this thread Hey I was dead tired when I wrote this to the point where I don't remember even writing this all up. I'll re-do the application in a new thread sometime, some of the things I wrote were very unstable and rather dumb, and I apologize for wasting everyone's time. Expect to see a new application within a day. Thanks! Link to comment
