Autoinjectors

Question

So yesterday we were in a cortical borer round, Safiya comes out of virology and tries to inject me with something. Some RP and a chase followed, as well as inept use of a syringe gun, before she finally held me down and injected me with a virus. Then walked away, oddly. I fought it off with spaceacillin so no harm done, but the intent was clear and hostile.

In attempt to protect myself next time, i made a little chloral hydrate 10u pill, and put it into an autoinjector. This is the only way i'm aware of so far, to fill them. I took the injector from a medkit, so it had 5u inaprovvaline already in it. attempting to put pills into them doesn't seem to work after they've been used up

When she showed her face in medbay again acting like nothing happened, me and penny chased her back to virology before i finally managed to sedate her outside. The injector tells me injected 5u, not 15. And she just ran back into virology and closed the shutters. I didn't see her again for a while, until some players actually joined the security department, and dragged her out to get scanned (she had a borer, of course) but radio chatter during that period suggested it didn't work, she wasn't going to sleep

So i'm not sure what happened here, did the autoinjector screw up or bug out? how are you supposed to use and refill these things? My experimenting with them has been unsuccessful so far, i need advice

There are empty autoinjectors in the exam room closet, and I think the chemistry closet and maybe secondary medical storage.

You fill those with syringes. Their max capacity is 5u. Haven't used chloral in a long time, but 5u should be enough to put someone out unless it was super heavily nerfed.

You can't fill an autoinjector from a medkit unless you first remove the 5u in there with a syringe.

That's how it used to work on old-code:

Autoinjectors are small and easy to use for everyone, they can only 'contain' five units of liquids.

You just stab one into someone's arm, without any delay or waiting, unlike with normal syringes.

Therefore, you can only use one once, before it breaks.

And you use a syringe to carefully empty it, and to fill it with whatever poison you want.

You can find lots of them in injector boxes, all around the medbay, on old-code these were full, not empty. These are useful for EMT's.

There's also a hypospray, only available to the CMO. It's a syringe loaded with tricord, that's delay-less just like injectors.
