Shadow's (My Tajaran Agent) Backstory - Possible?

Long story short, I've had my Syndicate agent Shadow with a semi-snowflakey backstory. Now that we have more fleshed out lore, I think it's time I finalize it properly. You see, she's a Tajaran, raised by Unathi.

Wait, don't leave yet, lemme explain.

She was born in the northern reaches of Adohmai, in a very sheltered village of hunters and trappers. Her father was working deals with Unathi raiders. At one point, her father saves one of the Unathi captain's life, and the captain ends up owing a life debt to this Tajaran trapper. Before that debt could be paid, a resistance hired by NT comes to arrest the father, and he flees, taking Shadow with him. The father is fatally shot, but manages to carry Shadow to where he knows the unathi pirates are.

Here, he passes on his life debt from himself to his daughter. The Unathi, furious at having a Tajaran child dumped on him, reluctantly agrees because of his honor. The crew consisted mostly of Unathi, but there were human/Tajaran members in the lower ranks, giving Shadow the chance to learn both Siik'Maas and gutter. The raises Shadow until she is old enough to fend for herself, and when she reaches a certain age, he claims that he has paid off the debt to her father and drops her off in some dumpy corner of the galaxy. From there, Shadow vowed vengeance on the people that initially destroyed her life, the people who killed her father.

So I'm thinking, we got Unathi pirate raiders now. Can it be legitimately said that this renegade Captain who took her in, is part of the Izweki Hegemony?

Don't really see why not, few months ago the Izweski Hegemony offered pardons to any Unathi pirates who would join the Hegemony and form their fleet, your captain could easily be part of those Unathi.

Pretty sure antags get a free pass on accusations of snowflakeyness considering they are ruthless agents and monsters gunning for some research station, and the story sounds believable regardless.

This is not only impossible, but I'm filing a ban request for it being considered in the first place.

haha just kidding could you imagine

Unathi are big on honor; even the raiders, of whom the Hegemon consider to be mostly disgusting degenerates because a lot of them have abandoned actual honorable ways like not raiding innocent people, would have some sort of honor system for themselves. I'm not going to say that it's impossible and lore-breaking for someone to be raised by xeno parents.

This seems respectable enough. The unathi captain didn't want to raise this catbeast, but he was obligated to. Unathi are huge on obligations, and I'm glad you played that out. Also dumping Shadow off like a dingleberry is completely valid because he probably never really got over the fact this meowing runt is his child and making all the other raiders point at him and snicker.

I'd be completely fine with the captain having renounced his raider ways and joined the Hegemony Navy. He might not be very popular - especially having raised a tajaran child - but he'd still be employed by it. He'd also be expected to abandon his savage raider ways and follow the rules of honor, mostly in, again, not slaughtering or robbing innocent people.

Basically, as long as everyone understands that this situation makes them very weird and very unpopular with most of their vanilla comrades, I'm fine with it.

Well, she wasn't raised by just the captain - it was the entire crew, in a sense.

They mostly gave her work that the Unathi were too proud to do. Like...clean their armor and weapons. And when she was old enough, they began having her raid along with them. Like bait unsuspecting people with her child-like demeanor, and bring them into an ambush, or scout ahead of the group because of her natural hunter skills of staying quiet and seeing better in the dark.

So she was a maid then... a Tajaran maid... polishing the big Unathi weapons... I wonder, would it be too much of a stretch to call her... Lusty?

What? No...Why would you think-

Actually, don't answer that.

I don't want to know the answer to that.
