Sometimes people forget about their prisoners when multitasking. A loud buzz, beep, or series of both could help.

I think maybe it would help to have a message over security channel, like,

Cell 2 Monitor [security] states, "Cell 2 timer has expired."

That way, you don't even have to be near the cell to know a prisoner's done their time.

It should make that really loud deep echoing buzzing sound that you always see in TV shows involving prisons.
