Ckey/BYOND Username: CakeIsOssim

Position Being Applied For: Rival Corporation Lore Developer

Past Experiences/Knowledge: I've never actually submitted any lore for Aurora. However, I do consider myself an avid writer. I enjoy writing, and it's something that usually fills my spare time.

Examples of Past Work: I don't really have any public examples of any of my writing.

Preferred Mode of Communication: Skype, Discord, Forum PM

Additional Comments:

I personally believe that he rival corporations of NT should be included more in our server than just passive references here and there. Give people something they can really build upon. Do they serve their purpose now? Perhaps, but I think they can and should be more than that. What good is potential wasted? The rival corporations interest me, and I believe that I could improve them greatly.

I'd like to have someone in charge of developing lore for other megacorps, as the lore for them is kind of lacking atm and almost neevr updated. +1

Interview question. Totally official. 100%.

You're the CEO of Zeng-Hu Pharmaceuticals.

How much do you love Skrell?

This question alone decides your application. Not joking.

No pressure, but getting this question wrong shows you haven't even put a minimal amount of effort into learning about the companies.

If you can spread that across a 2,000 page essay at least twice a month if asked, then we have a starting point to work off of. Next, you're a Sol worker who just lost all of his money due to mathematical error in some system. What company do you blame? Keep in mind, you still have a fifty/fifty, two multiple choices, and a mobile shout-out available.

You blame the stupid fucking catbeasts, of course Idris Inc., but that's a little out of place considering how much they claim to keep funds secure.

I'd like to buy a vowel.

The vowel is O. You used a company other than Idris to send the funds to buy this vowel. This resulted in an error that has cancelled the transaction. You are now barred from using the letter "O" in future answers.

In 50 words or more, who has more of a reason to hate NanoTrasen? Your answer can be a company, a group, a race, or a pyrofox. Keep in mind, there is a correct answer and all others are incorrect.

I was never one for rules.

I'll be honest, I have no definitive answer. I can, however, bring forth three separate factions that I believe have the most beef with NanoTrasen.

The Providence Foundation - Somewhat obscure, but not enough to be completely stepped all over by NanoTrasen without some serious backlash. One challenges results brought about by NT research, and the other responds with lawsuits.

The Tajara - For allowing most of their home planet's resources to fall under the control of NT.

The Syndicate - Really, the obvious answer. But if I was going to be terribly honest with you, I wouldn't say it's the right one.

A man who wants to be the keeper of the company lore doesn't at least give the Oest Gees of the megacorps a mention? Not even mentioning Hephaestus Industries? Nothing on Einstein Engines?

You get some points for looking up the obscure Foundation, but take a hit for passing on the chance to expound on the tension caused by NT's sudden jump from biomedicine to making warp-drives just about obsolete.

Mentioning the complex nature of their relationship with the Syndicate shows that you've got the capability to think up or accept some fun angles, but that's not the big money you're after. And touching on the Tajara somehow made your score lower. I don't know how that's even possible, but you've done it. You went a mile wide with very little depth.

You did however make the 50 word minimum, and that's worth at least a partial mark.

Please take this more seriously.

Next question. Which of the following three do you ship together in a relationship (platonic, carnal, or other):

Miranda Trasen

Joseph Dorn

Lioquix Jrugl-Wliesh

No, I'm sorry, I can't do this.

I went into this expecting something completely different, and now that I have an idea of what it would be like in the future, I don't think I'm particularly fond of it, and I doubt I'm the kind of person that you would like to see on the lore team. This application reflects my own failure to look into this any further than just studying lore, and perhaps I even failed to do that much.

It's not that I don't understand what's going on here: I understand it completely, and that's where the issue lies. It's not what I'm looking for. I've lost my interest in becoming a part of the lore team because I just don't think I would particularly fit in very well if this is how day to day things are handled. I prefer something a bit more uniform. I can't be much more up front about it than that. I rescind the application.

You can't fool me with your mind games. This is clearly a game of chicken in which my inner desperation to have people around with ideas and passion will result in a sudden outburst of approval for the application regardless of my simultaneously silly and relevant lore questions. Jokes on you, I only panicked for roughly twenty minutes before realizing this was a clever ruse.

obviously both, she would date the other once she finished absorbing the first

I was hoping for a comment on the fact that all three of them are relevant to the politics of Tau Ceti, the system our game takes place in. The CEO of NT and the President of the Republic. Skrell guy's just a Representative, so it wouldn't have been to big a deal to miss him. Would have just stroked my ego to know someone read it or at least searched the name of the Representative.

Anything else would have been icing.

If we're really going to keep this meme train rolling, I suppose I can discuss the installation of my psychic dominators tomorrow. I'll edit this post when I wake up.

If you want it to be non-memes, that's fine. This may be shocking, but that questionnaire isn't even standard protocol for loredev applications.

Yet.

Serious questions:

How would you change the currently-established non-NT corporations?

What sort of dynamics would you instate between companies?

How would you make such companies relevant without assistance from a code developer?

What type of NEW companies would you instate?

Rrreaaally, I don't think I'll change as much as I'll add. I'm using the word 'overhaul' to explain an expansion of information on the corporations; stations/facilities, past projects, and general history. The dynamics between companies would likely be both cooperations and, of course, rivalry. The rival corporations are already relevant. The deal here is making them less vague so they serve more of a purpose in the lore. I think this can be easily accomplished without the assistance of a coder.

New companies is a project for a much later date. The current ones come first, and if we can get around to possibly adding a new one, I wager it would be some kind of freighting company, or something idk.
