firstact Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 BYOND Key: Firstact Character Names: Blake Rosenthal How long have you been playing on Aurora: two and a half weeks, fairly regularly Species you are applying to play: Tajaran What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Diona exempt): Ivory (RGB 205, 205, 192) Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I have plenty of experience roleplaying as Tajaran on other heavy rp servers, and I would greatly enjoy being able to play unique characters of a differing race. The variety of having aliens mixed in with humans on aurora does also tend to help spice up others roleplay, and provides opportunities for roleplay in itself. The Tajarans also have a backstory that can provide many different opportunities, and is greatly different due to not being as technologically advanced as humans. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Tajarans have only recently risen from the revolutionary war, and are still under the effects of it, which provides a great backstory as it is a recent event, not a past history such as many humanity-related events. Many Tajarans also hold a code of honour, have starkly contrased ethnicities, and are extremely diverse. Tajaran culture heavily focuses on music and theatre to convey messages and entertainment. Literature is largely looked down upon except by a minority of current generation Tajara. While any Tajaran can likely do any profession, the different ethnicities have as a whole, become adapted to certain work roles. This contrasts hugely to humanity, where any ethnicity, or gender, can largely do anything, as there is not much of a difference in physical features. Why does this species in particular hold your interest? The Tajaran species provides many opportunities for characters and ample roleplay. They also usually do not know every thing there is about humanity or their control, as a whole they are still foreign and allow for individual discoveries, largely because Tajara's are not a large, or space faring, race. Character Name: Na'Khar Sa'Kuate Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Na'Khar was born into a middle-class M'Sai family in Bayan, a year after the uprising. He was raised with two brothers, and recieved an average education. When finished with education, Na'Khar took up a job as an apprentice electrician alongside his father, shortly surpassing him he made it his profession until the age of 22 ahdomian years. Unsatisfied with work, Na'Khar traveled to Jormitorr in search of work, where he found a job and was shipped to the outer rim human colony, Chara, an independent system. He was under the employment of colonial police, although the term was short served. Throughout one and a half years relative to Ahdomai, countless protests began to spark, unsatisfied with the governing body of the system, over time these protests began to become increasingly more violent until a full-scale riot broke out. Na'Khar was near the front of a defensive shield line when arsonists began throwing small scale explosives. This broke the shield wall and the fighting began, in the midst of the panic Na'Khar was charged by a rioter with an old sword. In the ensuing fight, Na'Khar blocked a hurled molotov with his shield, causing the attacker to swing and dismember his arm from just below the shoulder. He was recovered when backup arrived and spent the next few months recuperating, the employment company laid him off with a small reimbursment and a bionic Tajaran-specific industrial model arm. Shortly after recovering, Na'Khar took the fastest route back to Ahdomai and began working as an electrician once more. After a year of saving up money, Na'Khar traveled to Nalyar and began taking classes in medicine. By the time he was 27, he had graduated with a major graduates in general surgery and an undergraduates in virology. A Nanotrasen recruiter in Nalyar took notice of Na'Khars degree, and he has since been working for Nanotrasen on multiple stations for three years now, and among that time married his wife, Vetiv Tessik. What do you like about this character? Na'Khar is mostly nonchalant, and an easy going person, but can be quick to anger like many M'Sai. However he is no hero, and will not try to be one. He is devoted to serving patients, and surgery is his one passion in life that isn't drinking. Na'Khar is also dedicated to honouring the intent of previous agreements, and is generally happy when spending time with those who he knows, but has a hard time meeting new people. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I've been roleplaying for a very long time, and on ss13 for three years. So I'd give myself a 7/10 if i had to rate it on a scale. I'm not the best roleplayer ever who puts so much dedication into every little sentence, but I do purposefully get immersed and limit myself to currently being my character, and I try to reflect that, although the transition to playing human has kind of thrown me off slightly. Notes: Na'Khar is a veteran character of mine, as is his step-brother D'Jar. I've been roleplaying Na'Khar though for two years. Edit: Fixed a few typos.
Ryfer Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 I've spent a couple of months with Firrrstact and the character Na'Khar, who was pretty much my main source for character interaction for a long time; having been on a less active server for some time. I've seen him roleplay quite a bit and can fairly say it's above average, for sure. He's wonderful about staying in character and knows how to roleplay a tajaran, being one to often give advice on general things before due to how much he knew the lore; having found it important for the species he played. I only saw Na'Khar for around two months of the years he's been around but I can tell that he's a character without many odd, snowflakey flaws, just fairly normal overall.
