Evergreen Gardens Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 BYOND Key: EvergreenGardens Total Ban Length: Permanent Banning staff member's Key: pumpkingslice Reason of Ban: Showing no signs of improvement Reason for Appeal: Well, the situation that got me banned went like this: I started the round playing as a Vox raider. I couldn't find the entrance to the station, and asked for help from my fellow Vox. I got no response. I kept trying, and ended up spacing myself.. I was too far to use LOOC, so I started asking for help using OOC. People got mad. So I apologized, and took their advice and asked the admins for help. The admins said there was nothing they could do, since it was an IC issue. So I continued to throw my belongings out, until I was naked and dying of depressurization. I was relieved when I figured out that I could come back as a maintenance drone, but I was still pretty upset. So I decided to just start screwing around. I pulled alarms, made a news channel called "Drone News", which only broadcasted "I am a drone". Then, trying to be funny, I welded Medbay's doors shut, and said "Intruders on both sides of door", referring to the two Vox. This was fixed within five seconds. Then, I got yelled at by the admins. They said they were going to job-ban me from synthetics for poor roleplaying. Which I totally understand. But then they decided to permaban me, since I showed no signs of improvement since last incident. This is totally untrue. The last time I was permabanned (about a month ago) was a wakeup call. I realized that I enjoyed RPing on the server, and after a successful appeal, I quit griefing. I actually started doing my jobs, and interacting with other characters. Ask Medbay about Crandlewick Flinchmauster. Ask the player of December Ishikawa about the new arrival to Xenobiology, Jon Everest. Also realize that this Perma / IP ban was also less than a day after the admins broke RP and sent talking worm heads after players deep in their RP, with one of them bursting out of a locker and saying "Here's Johnny!" before devouring Ashlie Palmer and Sukri.

You have a wide array of notes, from injecting random people with chemicals out of boredom, to mopping the halls with welder fuel and setting them on fire. These latest actions do not seem to be any different from that, which is why you've collected a second permaban. they decided to permaban me, since I showed no signs of improvement since last incident. This is totally untrue. The last time I was permabanned (about a month ago) was a wakeup call. I realized that I enjoyed RPing on the server, and after a successful appeal, I quit griefing. Ask the player of December Ishikawa about the new arrival to Xenobiology, Jon Everest.I don't see it as a wake-up call. You were permabanned for chucklefucking. Perhaps at this point, after getting successfully unbanned, you should take it as a hint that you shouldn't chucklefuck again - since you've seemingly failed to heed that against all logic, your permaban has been reinstated. Also realize that this Perma / IP ban was also less than a day after the admins broke RP and sent talking worm heads after players deep in their RP, with one of them bursting out of a locker and saying "Here's Johnny!" before devouring Ashlie Palmer and Sukri.Irrelevant. That entire thing was a joke event, and other people's mistakes still do not excuse your own. If other people mess up, they'll be punished appropriately (and there's a pretty big difference between messing around during a joke event, and setting rooms on fire during extended repeatedly). Lastly, perhaps you'd like to tell us about the alt account named "Ihatetheaurora" you made to try to circumvent the ban?
Evergreen Gardens Posted November 30, 2014 Author Posted November 30, 2014 I stopped all of the chucklefucking after I was permabanned, until this incident. Wouldn't you say that doing your job for a whole month, then doing small-time chucklefucking as a maintenance drone after dying is a vast improvement over doing nothing but poisoning people and lighting the whole station on fire? I already said, go ahead and ban me from being a synthetic. But I did improve, and I apologize for trying to circumvent the ban.

I would not consider that welding doors of a high traffic area, pulling alarms and creating a news channel as a drone constitutes "small-time" chucklefucking. Since I find it hard to believe you weren't aware you were clearly breaking the rules by doing all of this, I'm going to assume you simply cannot prevent yourself from doing these things. You were given plenty of warnings. You were given a last chance /after/ being permabanned. You just ruined that chance. You can apologize all you want, but you will find actions speak louder than words. At the moment, we have no guarantee you will actually fix your behavior, seeing as we gave you chance after chance to do so, and you blew every single last one of them. What makes this time so different?

What makes this time so different? I've actually seen very little of the drones, and never played a synthetic. I really wasn't thinking about finding out the rules at the time. And how many times do I have to tell you? I DID fix my behavior. Between the first permaban and now, I did improve. I took my jobs seriously. I stopped chucklefucking. This was an isolated incident, and isn't a good representation of my current playing style. And if that's not good enough, then I'm done.

Except it should follow common sense that maintenance drones don't exist to fuck around, given that you are given very specific laws, just like cyborgs (one of which is "don't interfere"), and that you had /no business/ welding medbay doors. Between failing to acknowledge or understand how what you did is bad, and creating an account named "Ihatetheaurora" shortly after the ban and trying to reconnect, this paints you as an immature individual who doesn't have the patience to play on a heavy-RP server. Going to wait for someone else to weigh on this, but my first reflex is to keep the ban in place. You don't really get a permaban lifted, and then start messing up with what got you permabanned in the first place.

Frances Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 So what does the rest of the month paint me as? We're willing to overlook minor slip-ups, depending on how much time has elapsed since the last incident. One month since a permaban is not a lot of time. Neither was this a minor slip-up. Returning with an alt account also does not put you in a good light.
Evergreen Gardens Posted November 30, 2014 Author Posted November 30, 2014 (edited) Okay. I'll be honest. I was planning to do something devious. In the ballpark of playing as a supervillain who was a disgruntled former employee. Also, to prove I take RP seriously, here's the character sheet I've been working on for Jon Everest: Full Name: Jonathan Charles Everest Species: Human Occupation: Xenobiologist Age: 25 [Fluff removed] _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Now if you'll excuse me, I'd like to get back to watching the desecration of my lifeless body on Hippiestation. In the ballpark of playing as a supervillain who was a disgruntled former employee. While I certainly appreciate you being forthcoming with your less than honorable intentions, I must take note once again that making plans to come back on the server after having been banned to grief/self-antag does not help your case. Also, posting character sheets won't help you. The question here isn't about your writing or roleplaying abilities - it's about your ability to follow and understand the rules. Other people fucking up does not excuse you fucking up. You doing something else decently does not excuse you fucking up. You doing your job 95% of the time does not excuse you fucking up majorly the other 5%. At this point, you should just admit that you've made a mistake, and deal with it.

I already admitted that I made a mistake. I'm sorry. And I was willing to accept the job-ban.
Guest Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 Hi there. As the banning staff member I'd just like to say that I fully support your ban not being lifted. Why? So what does the rest of the month paint me as? We're willing to overlook minor slip-ups, depending on how much time has elapsed since the last incident. One month since a permaban is not a lot of time. Neither was this a minor slip-up. You may or may not have been aware of the minor slip ups you did that round, however I was observing carefully. You had multiple cases of IC in OOC which I informally asked you to stop over OOC. I also observed you going around as a drone and saying something along the lines of "You are an intruder" to the crew. That may have not been what you said, but regardless you were saying things to the crew you really shouldn't have been saying. Those were your minor slip ups. Then the job-ban happened. Now when you accumulate that with your minor slip ups, which might I add are ban-able offenses themselves, it goes to show that you clearly have not shown any improvement since your unban. Before even applying the perma ban I made sure to double check your notes and you have quite the amount of notes in the span of a month after your unban. In my eyes, at this point it just is not worth unbanning you as you simply can not be trusted to not break another rule.

Evergreen Gardens Posted November 30, 2014 Author Posted November 30, 2014 Can you please PM me the list of notes from the month I was allowed back on the station?
Guest Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 Can you please PM me the list of notes from the month I was allowed back on the station? Notes have been PM'd to you as requested.
Evergreen Gardens Posted December 1, 2014 Author Posted December 1, 2014 So there's nothing I can do to reverse the ban?
Frances Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 So there's nothing I can do to reverse the ban? Nope. You sorta got permabanned, fucked up, and got permabanned again. That's a lot harder to left, especially since we lifted your previous ban under the belief no more incidents would happen, which you've managed to disprove. Wait a few months. (It would also be nice to have some sort of guarantee you won't be creating any new accounts with attempt to bypass, because at the moment, your little stunt with an extra ckey means we have to keep an IP ban which bans your brother from playing too.)
